The more I win, the goofier and worse the teammates get.

Having an actual god in Dota wouldn't make sense, he'd need to be a champion of Dagon or something. The most powerful creatures in Dota that you can play as are Fundamentals, which were created by a Deity but aren't Deities themselves. There is Zeus, but he's a Demigod and all.

You play as Elder Titan too, but he was part of a creator race, individually he's not apparently that strong.
Actually this has me wondering, what exactly is the power hierarchy in Dotaland? Are Ancients Gods or just Godlike beings? Did they create the Gods even if it was indirectly, or were the Gods other beings that came into being? Are they stronger than Gods? Zeus doesn't know what the Ancients really are so it seems they're either a tier above Gods or a force so old they came before Gods.

I like to think that Dota isn't "dying" because of it being hard to learn (because it has always been during its entire existence), but because recent changes are disappointing and making a significant part of the playerbase lose interest in the game.

I will agree with you that the in-game tutorials and help are awful, but I don't think explaining things like smoke of deceit or even stacking really helps new players. Personally I learned of stacking very quickly after starting the game but I didn't really understand it until later on (when I really started to appreciate time efficiency), which may sound idiotic, but I suspect it's similar to the experience of most new players.

Something they really never should have removed was the shopkeeper's quiz. That's actually how I memorized all the recipes. Instead, they should have expanded upon it.

Not really. The decline was pretty obvious because of 7.00 because it gave people reason to quit the game because of so many changes. You can say Valve basically pulled a Dota 3 while only losing only less than 10% of their player base and its not really a bad thing as you will see in coming months when numbers start to stabalize again. Also because of performance problems at the start of 7.00 also made many people quit and since theres a huge overlap of players playing both csgo and dota those people just started playing csgo.

The thing that really pisses me off about tower range and spawn boxes is that those are "static" ranges (meaning they do not move on the map, they're always the same every game for each tower/camp). In the past, Valve indicated those ranges with subtle visual cues on the map, and that was a really elegant and clever way to do it. Now they don't even bother with that and dump visual clutter on the player because who cares it's not like they have serious competition.

I also don't see it mentioned nearly often enough that stacking and rune spawns occur on alternating minutes. This further dumbed down the game because players don't even have to choose between the two anymore (or be clever and find a way to do both)

The way I see it, there are three big problems with shrines: they punish aggression since they create zones in which a single team will get an Alchemist ult's hp regen for a short duration, they make lane pressure far less punishing and they make really hard for a team to lose map control because they're a tp spot. At the same time that's exactly what they bring to the game.

Honestly I don't think they add anything good to the game and I think they should just be removed. I don't necessarily have a problem with new buildings that have special effects, but shrines were fucking stupid from the start.

Don't queue Cap's mode solo. If you do you'll get matched up with bad stacks who have no idea how drafting works and play their own game within the 3-4 players. No communication ingame or in the draft so you'll be playing Storm into an AM or something, or you'll be solo supporting while the other 4 play core and wrestle farm from each other.

I've played it around 6 times I think. First four were solid, lots of communication (mic+roles), drafts made sense, etc.
Lately it's just, 2 stacks or randoms who really should be playing AP, ~350gpm over 20 games playing core, nonsense drafts, radio silence while their stack play their own game over teamspeak, etc.

Axe is an excellent lane bully who can also farm incredibly fast and build what his team needs or just go super tanky.

I've found with just the 75 damage talent and a maelstrom he can kill heroes during a solo call who aren't super durable.

But yes stealing kills with Culling Blade is an issue, feels badman to NOT do it though.
