Is he? I sort of assumed it would be really hard keeping your turret up. We based our comp around bastion, with a rein and mercy. Couldn't really decide on what the fourth should be. I felt like Orisa was decent because then you get double shields, but probably at the cost of more damage.

Hard mode is pretty hard but mostly because if the Rein is a total idiot you're gonna wipe no matter what.

We were doing fine and dandy until Rein forgot to charge the bombs three times and we moved the payload at 8% health with no one checking the back

Which one is it?

If you struggle with Uprising on PC then let me tell you a funny story.

Just like with Junkeinsteins Revenge, Uprising is on the exact same difficulty on consoles as on PC. Blizzard doesn't care how much slower is to kill things with a controller. For extra fun, Torbs turret damage is still nerfed on consoles even in this mode.

Every difficulty on consoles is much harder than on PC.

soldier provides additional healing as well as more firepower for quickly focus-firing basically anything down fast along bastion

Bastion orisa manditory. Bastion shits damage, and orisa can cover him perfectly, and her ult is good for clutch. After that its either lucio for booping away bombs, or mercy for res and damage boost. 4 slot is really up to you, dva or rine for countering tank bastions is good, but roadhog can hook bastions out of turret form too. The ai is very scripted, so displacing the bots is a good way to buy time

she's not a horrible pick like Mei.

never has to reload so she can keep a constant stream of decent damage up, she can use her boost to knock back detonators, her defense matrix can absorb Bastion turret and tank mode fire and her ult is a decent get out of jail free card. it can also be used to quickly deal with the Bastions in the final segment that can be hard to take out if your team lacks range.

i think outside of the S-tier characters like Rein and Bastion, a lot of other character's effectiveness boils down to how good you are with them and how extensive your knowledge is of their kit. Dva is one of my most played, so once i learned the mechanics of the PvE mode i was able to figure out pretty quickly where she shines in the mode.

This is for pro games, so winston and tracer are both jumping on the back line at once. Zenyatta is dead instantly (not that he's being picked on maps you'd expect a dive). Unless you coordinate well with your team mates these lists aren't super important.

The more we see Winston, the more we see Reaper. Reaper is a fantastic counter to Winston. I do think we'll see more Reaper as the meta shifts around. With that said, we're trying some stuff internally on Reaper right now. I don't know if it will see the light of day or not, but it's internal only right now, and it's very minor. Just a little bit of quality of life issues that we're trying to pick up with him. I think Reaper is not in a terrible spot.

Defense heroes aren't nearly as essential as you may think.

Supports go without saying to keep the team alive, tanks take the brute of it and steer enemies off from the team, and finally offense will just be a common pick because people want to kill reliably and it helps pick holes in the team. Any defense can be subbed for the other 3 in the core and arguably have better results.

Sure they can be when the cards are in their favour but thats the problem, they'll specialize in specific areas but wont have that general all round use like the others.

I enjoy a lot of junkrat and he can shine in certain areas, but in most other instances I could just do Pharah whos more rounded in all other areas. As it is thats just the problem with meta, generalists who do good in all situations will be flocked and specialists will be a surprise pick at best and used situationally. Defense is very "specialist" and needs some tweaks to fill in the slots better.

Mei is the much better at actual defense situations. And ironically that's because of how long it takes for her to kill enemies. She can just capture anyone who enters her field of control and play with them before finishing them off.

Aside from that, she's also just kind of hard to kill. Even in masters, I just need to use my walls and ice block sparingly and I can sustain a 1v6 for far longer than any other hero.
