Probably not. It'd be an ending, it'd be cheesy, but I don't think it would be better storywise and would be less fitting for Undertale. It would also cause a lot of different kind of feels.
We would also miss the chance to get talked to by Flowey afterwards which I always thought was kinda important. It's not that he would decide to change his ways, but he does realize why it would be important and valuable to.

well, this was never explored in the game, so all we can do is theorize. my theories:
1. you can get 2 floweys
2. you get flowey from the flower that got slightly more dust
3. you need more than half of asriel's dust on one flower or it doesn't work at all

Yeah, that's pretty much why a lot of people feel so much sympathy for him. He caused a lot of suffering, but he admits it, he doesn't try to weasel his way out of it and he owns up to it as much as he could.

Whether he deserves to be cared for afterwards is really up to how you view his progression vs what he's done, but I respect the maturity he shows in his final decisions.

You'd have to reach out to Chara's soul the same way Frisk reaches out to the Humans and Lost Souls and encourage them to split from Asriel's soul. Unless you have a receptacle though, chances are Asriel's soul will promply shatter. This is why there are a bunch of savefics that revolve around Chara giving up their soul entirely and moving on.

I'd give Asriel only their soul. They'd be able to feel emotions again which is a good start.
A monster with a human's is too strong to be possessed without Humans fearing it.
Also a 10 year old kid shouldn't have that power anyway.

As for Chara's soul I'd try and find a way to give it to them, they seemed pretty keen on getting a human soul and this would be a peaceful alternative compared to the Genocide route.

I don't think it could be split apart, to be honest. Flowey was designed to be a vessel of souls, that's how he can survive souls going in and out, I think a regular fusion would just meld the souls together permanently. It doesn't fit in too well with the rest of Undertale, but I think you could make it into a solid story. There are some parallels with the existential implications of timeline shenanigans. Sans even says "the other sans-es" at one point.

What is your opinion on Chara? Are they a bad seed? Or are they simply influenced by the player like everyone else?

Or is Chara the one influencing Frisk? Like a pacifist Chara's leading the protagonist to make up for their sins and Genocide Chara is leading the player to destroy the world.
Toby did say that naming chara your own name is the most ideal way to play the game. And Flowey does continue to address you by "chara" when referring specifically to the player.

If you think about it Asriel choose the cowards way out. Instead of facing his guilt he gave up and let himself turn back into Flowey where he wouldn't have to care anymore and because of resets he doesn't have to face the consequences of his actions like the other 'bad' characters who have to live with the shame and guilt of what they've done along with the actual consequences. I don't understand why people applaud Asriel so much. He pretty much choose to just kill himself like Asgore and Alphys do in their bad endings

There are two facets to his decision at the end: External and Internal. External is the whole going to be Flowey again thing, while Internal is his guilt and fear about seeing his family again.

While you can debate how much these facets influence the decision, I don't think it's fair to say he "gives up" to be Flowey when no solution to the problem is apparent in the game itself that doesn't involve stealing (at least) one soul. Remove that obstacle, and then you can talk to him about guilt and giving up. For the most part I agree with him that showing himself to his parents for a few minutes is a cruel thrust of the dagger, especially if they understand what he's going to.

Prior to their death, they were an angry child who couldn't let go of their hatred which was only reinforced by having such a loving family be imprisoned underground.
After death but before Frisk they were a formless consciousness unable to feel anything.
In Pacifist they feel the love of the Monsters through Frisk and their personality changes to reflect it, are they completely nice? No, but they're better.
Post-TP, I don't see them "moving on", mainly because I don't think they'd want to after spending so long "dead", they'd probably stick with Frisk.
In Neutral Frisk and Chara balance each other out. The neutral routes are the Player's routes.
In Genocide they feel the LOVE from killing Monsters through Frisk and encourage their killing spree. They become a power hungry psychopath who destroys TP endings to increase their LOVE.

Also I think Toby wanted you to name them that because it makes some of the tricks impact the player more.

To be fair, I think that was more to keep the surprise twist intact. Otherwise the "The true name" announcement doesn't make a whole lot of sense.

I don't really like to involve a player in anything, because while it works to explain the game's meta bits, it also basically breaks in half any attempt to do a story set in that world.

As for Chara, some kind of trauma (likely violent) got mixed with self-righteousness (how DARE filthy humans imprison the nice monsters) into a pretty volatile combo. They either purposely or unconsciously manipulated the otherwise too timid Asriel into the plan and while killing more than six might have not occurred to them originally, the power of their combined form gets them 'drunk' on negativity and until Asriel stops them, they really did plan on indiscriminate 'justice' over the village.

Once they wake up within Frisk, their last memories are of death, betrayal, hatred and violence, and while they may or may not directly influence Frisk, they're certainly more inclined towards violent, rather than peaceful solutions. Frisk is somewhat the opposite, but they can break into violence if pushed to the edge. I don't think they'd let go of their hatred, but pacifist ending would prove there are better ways and they'd 'calm down', for lack of a better term, while genocide reaffirms them. Even then though, they're only happy with total control, which is why they ask for the soul to start things anew.

tl;dr, traumatized child who couldn't let go of their hatred, post-death they're neutral-to-negative influence, pacifist end calms them, genocide gives them power they should never have. All mostly headcanon, of course.

At the very start when Frisk falls and the two become one, I think of Chara as not really being full on evil demon, but they're in a state where they can easily become that. Chara hated humanity, wasn't that good of a person, and was the one that wanted Asriel to use his full power to wipe out the humans, only for him to go against them and get them both killed in the process. They have a reason or motive to pass their hatred of humanity onto monsters as well, and their willingness to fight would be strengthened since they witnessed firsthand how mercy failed. But Frisk is like their reverse, being a compassionate and flirtatious merciful pacifist. The two became one as "The Human", resulting in a completely Neutral entity. The Human would at first go down a Neutral path, not fully commiting to Frisk or Chara's ideals and impulses.

But in their next route, Chara can take a backseat and let Frisk decide, or Frisk can allow Chara to be the brains of the operation. If Chara is the one in control, they will do what they think is the right thing. FIGHT. No Mercy. Keep attacking till the very end... until the enemy is defeated. Pretty soon, they'll start to really enjoy it, along with the rise of stats that they get as a result. All the while, Frisk is obediantely following Chara's desires like the puppet they are. They probably felt immense guilt and wanted to stop, but DETERMINATION kept them going. The death of their mother was one thing, but killing Papyrus was the first major turning point. Frisk would completely 'shut off' at this point, and Chara's influence on the body would grow further. Reflections in water would look like a mysterious mixture of the two, the expression on their face is what Chara is feeling, etc. This is where Chara really starts to become a demonic entity out to gain power and destroy the world, but in the end 'Frisk' is still the one physically acting and doing the deeds, for the most part. It isn't until Sans is finally defeated that another major turning point occurs. During the fight with Sans is when Frisk's morality would have been triggered and they'd finally speak up again with the desire to end this madness. But... they got "dunked on", and Frisk shut up even more than more, becoming even more silent and obediant until the skeleton was dusted. After that, Chara pretty much gains control and Frisk takes the backseat as Chara kills their father and then their brother, their "best friend", who B e t r a y e d T h e m, all those years ago. And then Chara is 100% in control, to the point that Frisk's body and clothes are an exact duplicate of Chara's, and Chara themself is too far gone. They have truly become "The Demon That Comes When You Call It's Name", drunk on power and succumbed to their "Megalovania" to "ERASE the World". Maybe Frisk has been too corrupted themself and are such an obediant "partner" that they choose "ERASE" without a second thought. Maybe deep down, their true selves knew it wasn't right and said no. But either way, Chara still destroyed everything. But Frisk wouldn't want to let go entirely. They'd want to go back... to the world they destroyed. Okay. Sure. They can have it... if they give Chara their SOUL. And that's when the world is completely restored like nothing happened... but the Human still remembers what they did. And Frisk's SOUL isn't theirs anymore. It belongs to CHARA, the Fallen Human. Frisk is now a Soulless Pacifist, not a TRUE Pacifist anymore. And they will never be the same again. No matter how hard they try, they will never get their true happy ending. Because noone is above consequences.

It does it at good spots though, basically taking advantage of player's assumptions with video games. You're used to cleaning your inventory of useless junk at stores in old RPGs, so you're given an opportunity to try the same only to be told to fuck off. It's not like the player is ever forced into these situations, the game just reacts to player doing whatever. That's mainly why the game is considered more elegant rather than hamfisted with its message, it's not forced down your throat.

BUT, if Frisk is the one to take the wheel after that first Neutral route, then things would go much differently.

They would never FIGHT at all. Every battle would be resolved peacefully and with Mercy. They'd talk to the monsters, befriending them, dating them, and resolving all of their problems. The entire Underground would know how the Human arrived and became their very best friend. Even Flowey, Asriel Dreemur, would realize that the decision they made way back when was the right one. The world isn't Kill or Be Killed. And the one that's truly "saved" and helped by all of this is Chara. Chara is able to witness firsthand how Frisk singlehandedly proved them wrong. Mercy isn't useless. Fighting isn't the way. Because of Frisk, Chara grows more hopeful, their violent tendencies and rage is now completely calm and pacified. And in the end, it wasn't just Frisk. It was the combined efforts of both Frisk AND Chara that their Hopes and Dreams SAVED the World, and monsterkind was finally free. TruePacifist!Chara was taught a better way, and gained hope, becoming a valuable ally for Frisk. On the flipside, SoullessPacifist!Frisk was taught the opposite, and lost their hope, becoming nothing more than a slave to Chara, who they helped fall and become the worst version of themself.

What we know about Sans so far is that

He was a quantam phycisist with connections to Dr. W.D. Gaster. One of Gaster's experiments went wrong, and Gaster was shattered across time and space, with Sans possibly being the only one to remember him. The creation that Gaster fell in may be in Sans' hidden workshop, lying in disrepair under a blanket. The loss of Gaster and possibly a bunch of other people and stuff in his life as a result of that accident really affected Sans and his outlook on life. He tried and tried to find a way to fix things and to 'go back', but to no avail. Eventually, he got readings of an anomaly in the time-space continuum. Timelines jumping left and right, stopping and starting, until eventually everything ends. This soon became more than Sans could take and he finally just gave up altogether. He'll never "see them again". There's no point in trying to "go back", or even to see the surface or do anything of importance, if everyone is going to be ripped from the timeline and reset back to the start with no memory of the progress they made.

So, Sans the Skeleton became a lazy jokester that everyone knows, now known for his permanent smile, laziness, puns, pranks, and bad jokes. Barely going through life with the least possibe amount of effort and not really 'caring' about much of anything.

But then, his new friend, the old lady behind the tall locked door, asks him to promise something. Protect and watch over a Human that passes through the door. He hates making promises, but alright. He'll keep an eye socket out for them. And then... The Human arrives. And while the possibilities on what exactly occur are numerous and widely varied, one thing is for certain. The Human has D e t e r m i n a t i o n. To keep living, to change fate, to never give up. Sans is aware of this, and what the human is capable of. If it wasn't for the promise, they'd be D e a d W h e r e T h e y S t a n d.

Well, then everyone would know that MEGALOVANIA IS NOT SANS' THEME. IT'S JUST THE GENOCIDE FINAL BOSS THEME, which would make it CHARA'S theme, if it's a character theme at all. On the flipside, Hopes and Dreams/SAVE the World is the same thing for True Pacifist & Frisk. It is NOT Asriel's theme.

I really don't think you thought that one through. If it's Frisk's trial and error that gives Sans hope, then apparently it's okay if it takes Frisk like 200 times, when it's pretty heavily implied that the resetting altogether is what bothers him immensely. For better or worse, he needs permanence, not constantly shifting everything around.

You know what I think should have happened?

Sans' fight would be unchanged, but the battle theme would be either "Song That Might Play When You Fight Sans" or an alternate Genocide-route specific remix or alternative or whatever. But Asgore and Flowey should have both gotten real boss fights. Or, at least Flowey.

I mean, come on, wouldn't it have been cool if Chara and Flowey had an epic battle that pretty much had Flowey realize just how bad of a person Chara was and is? How manipulative and selfish and cruel Chara was in life, and Asriel never realized it because he was so blinded by "Chara is my best friend, Chara is so cool, Chara is the only one that understands, I should be more like Chara" hero worship, and now, looking back on everything, he finally realizes just how bad Chara is, which gives him the motivation to fight back, and it would be even more epic than the Sans' fight. Like, fighting Sans is like fighting your opposite, but fighting Flowey would be like fighting your apprentice who is now on your same level.
