Competitive is just gives you more control over your games composition, unless you get autist Azmodan or Abathur first pickers in whichcase you lose miserably.

Mechanically this game is simple, but with more emphasis on fighting, maximizing hero potential value, and teamwork than other MOBAs, the macro play is what becomes the most important skill you can learn to master.

If you come from a game like DotA, you will do fine once you get over the farming and laning habits you once had and learn this game's lane/map play, which can sometimes be counter-intuitive.

I came from Dota. The best advice I can give you is to master positioning and know where you need to be 20 seconds before you need to be there. If you want to have some real fun, do what I did and get really fucking good at support heroes. Brightwing is a really fun one to play and is extremely underappreciated at times. She can be literally anywhere at any time with her phase shift ability.

Also, take like 5 minutes to go through every single hero and look at their abilities. Especially their passive (D) abilities. Knowing what the enemy has for passive abilities can sometimes save your ass or signal that cc'ing certain heroes (like sonya) is a good battle tactic.

Don't try to follow too many online builds as many are outdated as fuck. Check out Grubby's twitch if you want to see some decently high tier play.

That's pretty much it. At level 4, I switch between the 10% health talent, or the movement speed talent. Aside from that, I'm the exact same. Turret talent at 1, turret talent at 7, 13 is either AP or shields, though I mostly just use the shields because I don't trust in others' ability to not take poke damage, and then I personally always take Gravity Well at 16. Once people get that I took the increased slow, they tend to maneuver around the rifts MUCH moreso than they did before 16, so you kind of dictate their pathing from that point on, and it helps. Also great for following up with CC or slows, I find a lot of situations where it's better to just leave my Rift up if it's on a beefy target or in a space that's denying entry to one of my teammates rather than pop it for damage first chance i get to hurt somebody, this way it gives everyone else much more time to do damage on that beefy target or you know, just stalls the shit out of them. Feels like most of Probius' damage comes from Overcharge anyway.

Tried playing TLV on Battlefield of the Eternity the other day with Baelog build and it was horseshit (Masters HL). Team was completely tilted the rest of the game after one of my vikings died in the first minute, and the game just snowballed in the enemies favor after the first immortal. He's the Warrior hero from D1 who stabbed himself in the forehead with Diablo's soulstone, thus getting possessed by Diablo and becoming skullface while wandering Sanctuary freeding Big D's brothers before he decided to shuck that body like an old snake skin and return to his normal form. As for what he does, in D1 he doesn't really have any set skills, and in D2 he just wanders around, summoning minor demons and setting fire to places, so maybe his kit would be based on being some kind of zoning tank. Maybe he lays down nasty fire fields around himself to make fighting around him a huge pain for the enemy team, making it hard for them to engage when he's around. Maybe his ult would just be Become Diablo

I started noticing something, every ranged assassin that relies on basic attacks feels terribly underpowered atm. Valla damage is relies on high stacks of hatred and dies extremely easily, raynor's ults are pretty underwhelming and while tychus does a nice damage his range is ridiculously small. I won't even mention tracer because her health pool is comparable to murky.

Compare them to Butcher, Illidan, Jaina and even some specialists and they seem extremely pathetic.
