loli jam is a giant shitpost and attack on agdg and everyone involved is shit.

No such thing as official but I agree it's not an agdg jam. There was no consensus and nobody is making games for it because they know it's not a real jam.

>>173641132
It would be really nice if the jams were actually a week long and were advertised more thank 24 hours before starting.
>>
>>173641670
>everything is decided by discord
That's why it's better. They can actually come to decisions as a result of banning pedophiles and shitposters who are obviously trying to derail things. That can't happen here and the result is a dead meme jam that nobody wants to touch and has been making the thread smell like roten tuna fish gogem shit for the past month or more.

There is much jealous here about discord and it's ability to put one foot in front of the other without eating shit.
>>

Yes, discord is better.
So why are you here?

>>
>>173642054
I'm asking why we talk about discord's jams here
>>
>>173641908
1 week is too long in my opinion, I never liked the agdg jams because they are just way too fucking long and just become background noise instead of a quick burst of devness like they are supposed to be.

Why can't we just all get along and become one dev family again?
>>
>>173642148
Because it's amateur game development
>>
>>173641979
The internet allows you to do more than one thing at once. Why would you ask such a stupid question? Is it because you're mad?
>>
>>173642148
Because it's the only real agdg jam currently happening and we want to talk about gamejams.
>>

What's a good organization method for tiles in a 2D map for a TBS? More specifically, some tiles will have no function, some will have unique functions, etc. So I can't just give them a flag to determine how to render them, they need more going on. Should they all inherit from a base class? Or should I do this via composition or whatever the cool thing people do today is.
>>

Check the license for the individual font, they aren't all the same.

Also some font licenses don't like it when you actually distribute the font (e.g. in a video game) and only allow you to use the font in images and whatnot, check for that.

----[ Recap ]----
Game:Kick-in'
Dev:Kickin' Dev
Tools:Gamemaker studio
Web:kickindev.tumblr.com
Progress:
+Enemy now reacts to successfully blocking a player attack
+Player now reacts to successfully blocking an enemy attack...if it's aimed at the face.
+Speaking of which, player now has a more fitting animation that indicates when they're guarding their face.
+Enemy now has a second attack!
+New enemy hurtbox types added. Timings of many enemy and player attacks adjusted.
+More behind-the-scenes groundwork laid for enemy AI.
+Player now has a 10 frame delay after throwing a punch before they can throw another punch from the same side of their body.

-That last patch note was something that was working before but broke so I had to fix it.
-image_speed keeps finding ways back into my animation code and it's annoying.
-People keep expecting the game to be lewd but I honestly don't know if my current artist is willing to make a porn game or not.

I'm almost never able to dev on weekends, so weekend jams are the worst for me. Sure the weekend jams usually have a Friday and/or Monday, but that's not nearly as fun as spending one whole week on the game.

So trying to make a looping animation in Blender and realized its not looping properly, and instead has a slight pause.

Upon further investigation, this seems to have something to do with F-curves? Going into the menu shows a clusterfuck of lines I cant imagine anyone should have to comprehend.

Is there some easy way to make my animations loop properly without trying to figure out whatever rocket science is going on with these lines? Will this even matter outside of Blender?

Not sure this is the best board for this, but:
I want to rip sprites from an existing 2d game (Downwell). What is the best way to do it? I'm thinking of using webmcam.
>>
>>173649482
oh shit nigga what are you doing
>>
>>173649646
I'm guessing a better way would be to actually rip them from the source code, but I wouldn't know how to do that.
Unfortunately there are no spritesheets of that game available.
>>
>>173649863
Does webmcam capture perfect pngs with no compression artifacts? Your way might not be as dumb as it sounds if so. It would just be taking screenshots every frame. Probably good enough to see all the frames of animation.
For downwell in particular, the sprites are low res enough that you could manually redraw the sprites from reference. You ARE just using them for reference, right?
>>
>>173650124
>You ARE just using them for reference, right?
Sure, not dumb enough to use copyrighted material. I just want to see a frame by frame sequence of the dust that forms when you jump/land on the ground.
>>
>>173650573
Record it and replay in slow motion. Sometimes it's better than spritesheets because you can actually see the timing of the frames
>>
>>173644675
wtf you have to do things to make a game?

What's an acceptable number of tris for a character, in a scene with at most 40 of them?
>>
>>173652153
wtf i hate gamedev now
>>
>>173652597
Depends, mate.

How complicated are the backgrounds?
How big of a focus is on the characters?
Where is the focus on the characters (overhead? straight on? behind them? etc)
How far away is the camera from the characters?
How important is it that your game can run on toasters?

If you answer these questions I won't personally give you an answer. Just something for you to chew on.
>>
>>173652597
613 is usually my breaking point.
>>
>i want to make a game in this genre

Is this bad design philosophy?
>>
>>173652942
Well, it limits the possibility that you'll make something like Minecraft that will blow the world away.

If you really like a genre though, and you want to make a solid entry / an entry that pushes the genre... it's not too bad of a start.
>>
>>173652942
If you have nothing of value to add to it, then yes. Another Platformer/Dark Souls/Kart Racer/etc. isn't going to make waves or wow anyone. One of those with new and interesting mechanics might though.
>>
>>173653230
>One of those with new and interesting mechanics might though.

>>
>>173652942
Any design philosophy that results in a fun game is a good one. That's all you really need to worry about.
>>
>>173653331
Usually because the devs believe the twist is enough to compensate for otherwise poor level design or general quality.

Nothing fancy at all going on. Found some local nerd programmers who already have a working FPS build with placeholder models, so I get to do some assets that will be immediately put into a build rather than waiting on flaky programmers at every step.

Keepin' it to a simply cartoon, exagerated industrial look for the models and textures. Hopefully the whole game gets bathed in neon light sources.

I'm kinda pissed that a local gamejam happened on a weekday. Who the fuck organizes that?

>>173655471
To answer your question, fuck no renpy shit are not games. Make shitty rpgmaker games at least since those are actual (albeit usually shitty and lazy) games.
However, the "Unity 3D physics calculations everyone's working on" are mostly smoke and mirror, the engine does all the heavy lifting and most people here just drag and drop some assets, then design gameplay rules and that's it. Only the easy stuff is left to them while the real meat is handled by the engine.
That said, you sound quite clueless for someone with a CS degree. Did they lower the standards again?

1. Slow down on menu screens. You and players will spend .05 seconds in a menu but we don't know where everything is.
2. Tiling on the grass is painfully obvious.
3. The "ville" menu is very tasteful. It's certainly good enough for a prototype. With the nice pixel artwork, this one screen looks really good.
4. The next screen, with the two columns, is worse. With 4 total shades of gray, the minimalist style you had is destroyed. I would look for a way to still just use only black and white. Maybe dashed lines or 1- pixel lines for the rows of the table?
5. Can't really comment on the tetris inventory without seeing how actual items look. It looks like a prototype.
6. Overall unify your style, make it more like the one good screen. Black and white and the actual pixel art.

Bokudev, let me ask you something. What's your expectation for this game? It's cute, has a fun asthetic, maybe it's fun. I dunno.. But at the end of the day it's a puzzle game. I can't imagine it being a "hit", no matter how polished it is. Do you care either way?

I didn't see the need for it. Saving some polys and animation bones for pretty much the same effect (it's not a representation of a real octopus anyway).

Yeah, will try to make a new rig for it to get better tentacles. Could possibly work okay with just the two front tentacles smoothed out.
I thought the head squeeze was okay - Going for a sort of cartoony look (with colorful blocks like these), and it will be rendered on small phone screens.

To make tumblrtale money or flappybird money or angry birds money or minecraft money, no amount of gameplay or graphics or anything is needed. It's pure marketing and nothing else. Notch shilled really hard for a very long time in very obscure venues to get the ball rolling, but the secret to his success is that he invented a new business method (early access) which exploits human patos perfectly (it's literally the same equilibrium as today's garbage MMOs).

Considering making EVERY level's camera follow boku
like webm related since getting really tired of camera complaints. Gonna add the ability to change the FOV variable on the camera on input to zoom in/out as well soon.

I love the static/rotate the camera around a level style but the complaints are getting way to high and annoying when its always "Fix your camera controls" "fix your camera", and then I ask whats wrong with them but the answer is always its not an issue of what inputs do what its the complaint they have issues with clarity and want the camera to follow boku.

I worry the /captain toad spirit of the game is killed off a bit more when its not a diorama like camera that you rotate around the level and less of off the character but oh well.

Honored to see my content being used to shitpost. To get started and get a basic ramp shader, supply a light vector into your material (for example from a parameter collection), then do the dot product - and use this value as texcoord as the other guy described or just put an if statement. There should be tutorials floating around if you need more guidance. Mine supports self-shadowing and uses voodoo hacking with post-process material in addition to the material I described earlier (some inspiration taken from Jun Shimoda's cell shading materials freely available on UE forums). In the end, the final look will depend on how well-made your assets are.

Depends on your prices, quality of art and demand for what fetish you cater towards. A majority of artists can make between $10~$100 a drawing. Better artists regularly make over that per drawing, and can get some pretty huge Patreons rolling. If you can animate, expect $500+ commissions and Patreons over $5000 a month.

Once you clear a minimum bar of quality, being a good programmer is inversely correlated with game dev success.
>>
>>173665937
you ride a unicycle through the whole game
you can get off it or be knocked off it but if that happens you can't move
when you're off the unicycle you can hit things with it
various other mechanics are derived from using the unicycle or attaching things to it
the easiest difficulty has a bicycle instead, the hardest difficulty has a pogo stick, or maybe those are powerups or something

it's not too hard, you just pick the first remotely appropriate thing that comes to mind and then branch off from there
if that is hard for you, you can just practice; a few weeks of practice, or a couple months at most, and you'll be able to crank out ideas like that inside of three minutes
>>
>>173665835
If you are using Unity, you can set it so the entire workspace besides the game view is tinted when testing in play mode.

While you're testing any changes you make are not saved upon exiting, so I tint it red to remind myself of that.

It can be frustrating to position something just right from the players perspective in game, then have it all undone because of something so simple.

I'm really not in any place to give tips, senpai.

But I will say that it is worth really thinking out just how much you need your inventory to do for you.

Maybe you can get away with just having a bunch of int Apple, int Rock, int Greatsword. for an inventory if you have a manageable number of items in your game.

or you could write a Item class, which stores an Items name, its values, a string for a description. Then you could create a List or dictionary for those items.

The one I followed is in six of seven parts on youtube when you search Unity Inventory Tutorial, and has you create a .json file and a dictionary. I've probably followed it at least four or five times by now, and just this last time did enough pieces fall into place that I'm able to write most of the behaviors I'm looking for.

I'm far from finished with mine, but having a clear, concise idea of the number of items and the way the should interact, possibly written down on paper for reference would probably be a good place to start.

Think about what a vice is. It's a misdirected effort, a waste, turning useful potential into nothing. You say "sexual impurity and demoralization". Why are those bad things? Because they are detrimental to society's ability to propagate itself.

Video games, like porn, isolates you from society. They mimic a real activity, without the useful results.

Here's the thing: a wealthy society can afford a certain amount of vice. Currently the west is the wealthiest society EVER, so we have huge portions of society stay home fapping and gaming, and barely notice the effects.

I personally don't know where to draw the line, but games and porn are different only in degree, not in kind. In a poorer leaner society, both would be stigmatized out of existence.

You'd have tile types as a class. Examples could be snow type, dirt road type, etc. Up to you how to structure that, can be a base class and each different kind of tile is a sub-class, or just a single class with fine-grained properties (a tile type class with properties like move speed multiplier, defense multiplier, etc and a snow type could simply be set to 0.5 move speed multiplier, and dirt road would have 2.0 move speed multiplier). The type of game you are making should help inform which method is best.

Your map would be an array of these tile types

The way you are using the word makes it seem that anything that isn't benefiting yourself is a vice. A "vice" is a wicked or immoral activity. Playing a video game can be a vice in the same way that you can do too much gardening or building model airplanes. Porn is an actual vice in the sense that it is toxic for your moral and mental health.

I'm looking at it with the perspective that morals are a codification of a society's values. Moral health is not something that exists in the material world. It's a human invention. So I want to get past the binary reaction "It's immoral" and find out WHY it's immoral.

As far as I can tell, an immoral thing has enough of a cost to society that people decided it needed to be a rule. So, porn certainly has a cost. It isolates you and reduces your desire to fuck and to breed. if too many people stop breeding, society would die! So

Games aren't quite that intense. They do isolate you. There is a cost if you game too much, just like porn. In the worst case you get people who would rather game than interact with people outside. So, maybe not a vice.

my commonsense of it is that it depends on the person, some people become addicts, some people are fucking socialites about it (furries)... ultimately i think pornography has a zero effect on society where any minimal social costs you can find are made up for by equally minimal benefits - aside from the major benefit which no one ever tallies that people like it

What do you think Hoppoo is doing right now with his money?

How come he never helped donate to AGDG by trying to make a forum similar to AGDG but bigger and better and with greater moderation?
>>
>>173677845
What's the deal with the red/yellow/blue aesthetic?
>>
>>173677910
>let's make agdg2 but remove all things that make agdg great
>>
>>173677884
Really? How would color even help it at all?
>>
>>173677910
Hopoo is currently trying to find a job in todays market because he realized that after all the fees and taxes he got hit with, 10 million isn't enough to support a person these days.
>>
>>173677993
the shitposting makes agdg great?
>>
>>173677985
Different bullets will eventually do different things. For now, they all just do damage. Eventually red will be damage, yellow will be CC, and blue will be like, friendly? Like you heal it up and shit.
>>
>>173677910
AGDG's lifeblood is randos coming in, and the toxic culture of 4chan.

We've tried splitting off before. It's not the resources, and it's certainly not the moderation. Chats (IRC/discord) work fine because they're more or less tethered to 4chan. The boards always die pitiful deaths.
>>
>>173678067
Oh. I thought it was going to be something like elemental RPS.

red does extra damage to yellow
red does normal damage to red
red does less damage to blue

or whatnot
>>
>>173678067
I just mean.. Is there a reason for those colors specifically? They don't exactly mesh well. Makes it look child-like. If that's what you're going for, then I guess it works.
>>
>>173678070
Hoppoo has enough money to advertise effectively and keep lifeblood going

It would just have to be a slow but steady transition probably taking many months to a year to have full effect

RYB are the most iconic colors.
not the dev though. its easiest to make quick x-> y decisions with contrasting colors such as those
>>
>>173678136
That will also be kind of included? Though think of them more as "emotions". Red is aggressive and straightforward, yellow is move elusive and dance-around-the-issue kind of personality, and blue is the calm and "I accept this". Each will have positive and negatives, and some personalities could be more effective when you fight a certain kind of enemy. Like if you fight someone that's "All red", so something compoetely mindless and aggressive, yellow would be effective, and blue would be ineffective. That sort of thing. I still haven't written everything out yet, just going off a haunch right now

I now two guys who earned a couple millions about two decades ago. One hit the jackpot with one of the first social media websites (similar to geocities back in the day) and sold it for a few mil, the other with some firmware used in car brake control systems. Both are still living comfortably. Not filthy rich, but really comfy. You invest into property then rent it out and it just werks.

Fees for what exactly?
It depends on who the income is filed by, probably his LLC so he just pays minuscule business rates while keeping whatever he needs in his personal accounts.

Can someone tell me why /agdg/ is so obsessed with making money?
Is there anyone left who makes games solely because gamedev is FUN?
>>
>>173679590
>Why do you think game developers keep making games after they've made their millions? Unless you hit Notch billions, making a successful game isn't enough to keep you secure for the rest of your life.

A typical salary is 50k a year

50*10 = 500, so 10 years earns 500k
20 years is one million

you will work for 20 years, and in that time you will earn 1 million dollars, which you will be mostly spending as you earn it to support yourself

so 1 million will support someone for 20 years

2 million will support someone for 40 years

3 million will support someone for 60 years

5 million will support someone for 100 years
>>
>>173679590
>So your bank doesn't charge you any fees at all?
IF you've got money in a bank that charges you more the more money you have in it, you are humongous retard that needs to be shot
banks lend your money to other people for interest and roll in fucking dosh from it
if your account costs you more than few dozen bucks a month, you're getting fucking ripped off

oh yeah, and someone earning 50k a year is already in the higher side of tax bracket, the biggest jump is like 30k -> 50k, from 50k+ its not much % increase, just another 10% or so.

Also, this will usually require that you rent in the city (expensive) or spend 3 hours a day commuting

whereas if you have all your money already made then you can go and buy in the middle of nowhere because you can choose to lvie where you want as no longer have to live close to work

also, instead of buying what has minimal captial investment, you buy what is the most economical long term, so for example you buy solar panels and a feed-in system, so that you reach break even in a decade and come out financially ahead after that period

you buy your meat in bulk and freeze it

you have time to start a vegetable garden in a proper greenhouse, and you then only pay the cost of fertilizer you don't even need insecticide if it is in a proper greenhouse, giving you higher quality and lower cost vegetables, you have the money and the time for it as you no longer have to work for income

I've participated in 3 so far.
1 based in the uni I went to.
1 inter-varsity based.
1 in city centre as part of a game dev community.

The inter-varsity one was by the best. It mixed people from each uni so it was't uni vs. uni. People were more enthusiastic to get shit done. Could have been just our group but seemed like everyone's project was good.

Community one was filled with egotistical washed up devs and was stupidly cliquey. People who were professional devs had a name to uphold and were there as if they had something to prove.

Single uni one was pretty bad. Fairly ok turnout but the skill level wasn't there for every group. Also poorly organised and bad theme probably ruined it more-so than the people.

I probably wouldn't do another one.

I was struggling for months trying to figure out how I was going to get a sokoban style undo button but I finally came up with an elegant solution where you hold an input on a puzzle cube, which allows boku to pull a puzzle cube backwards so getting the cube stuck in places and having to redo a level is no longer an issue.

you should spread your investments out over the years in case you are buying in during a high period

and you periodically have to sell to lock in the gains

I've "made" +40% for half a year but then didn't sell and now its like +10% for 2 years straight...

>>173680717
yeah but banks interest rates are generally below inflation, so you loose wealth

term deposits are below inflation as well, you have to buy bonds or invest in land or the stock market to match or even beat inflation

plus i suspect that official inflation figures are under reported, so if they say it is 6% I think it is more like 8%

>>173680613
so in other words, someone working a fulltime job for 45k a year right now isn't alive? Because I visited them last week and they were alive and they definitely did exist. He even has a yaris and a hilux, a ps4, a xbone, a switch, 2 pcs, a 4k tv, a small solar setup, and paid someone to bring a bulldozer and dig him a dam recently.

But suposeadly he doesnt exist and there is no way that you could just withdraw only 45k a year from your account and just live on planet earth like he is right now. I mean you seem to think that it isn't possible but i mean I could go take a video and prove you wrong.

so you have 450k? you can do everything this guy does, eat all the food he eats, buy the shit he buys, for 10 years. Because that is what he is doing, with the same money. why can you not do what he is doing? Are you dumber than him? He isn't that smart.

Depends on your project, there's a lot of music you can buy for little money because small artists want to make a profit off of their stuff that they put on soundcloud or whatever. There's also a lot of websites that let you search for specific music typess, like "epic trailer musc" only.

What kind of music do you do?

I have paid my house and car off already, and am currently living on 900-1200 a month, that covers my 2017 gm spark mechanics fees, fuel consumption, my groceries, my bills (which are retardedly high, I'm paying like $3.6 per KL of water, and 26c per kwh for power, $370 a quarter for council rates), and also misc purchases, like last month I bought a nutri bullet, this month I bought a new belt and some swim wear.

So I am living on 15k a year

cooling is cheaper than heating

plus you are more likely to die from cold than from heat, very easy to freeze to death or become sick or frostbitten from too cold, plus it makes injuries slower to heal and more severe / painful

too hot? You don't die just come inside out of the sun, drink plenty of water, turn a fan on.

even if it is 120f you won't die

better live in a hot place than a cool place, that said i miss the cold everything feels fresher when it is cool

Yes, yes. The land. The land the government owns, not you. The land you pay the right to live on but ultimately does not belong to you. They can take it from you at any time they want and there is absolutely nothing you can do to stop it.

You are merely renting the place you live in. It is not yours.

pity ireland uses the euro instead of the pound, although the pound isn't that much higher anymore

so our unemployment benefit translates to 176.85 a week in euros, but the minimum wage is 12.52 in euros

So underemployment benefit is when you have a job but it doesn't pay enough, and unemployment benefit is to support you when you don't have any job at all.

In australia, if you are a full-time student then you qualify for full unemployment benefits (its called austudy), plus half your rent (so long as your landlord is not a relative or friend), and if you haven't graduated yet then up to four years of your college course fees are paid for you on a low interest government loan that you don't have to pay back any annual minimum amount unless you earn more than 30k a year.

Also I qualified for rural-to-city scholarships and got 5k for the first 2 years.

So I didn't have to pay a cent, got a 4 year degree with deans commendation, got paid $250 a week, got 5k a year, and don't have to pay back the course fees until I get a full time job.

That said the economy is so shit that I apply to 20 places a month and don't even get interview invites and have been unemployed for 1 year since voluntarily quitting my last job (50k/year shit IT job with crappy manager). That put me on 13 weeks unable to get unemployment benefit, the 13 weeks are up and I get $250 a week again, and I paid off my car and house while working.

The government is only required to pay what the land is worth on the market at the time of acquisition and you are guaranteed that the cost is always going to be a fraction of what you paid for it. If they offer you $10k for your $1m plot of land, then you better accept it because if you don't then they'll just hit you with a compulsory acquisition order and you'll get nothing.

When searching around for multiple mesh nonsense and weird shading at those seams the most reasonable results I saw either had you use shader code to fuck with the normals at the edges.

Or, if we call the seam where you split the mesh the 'waist' then in blender, for the legs mesh you want to include the ring of vertices above the waist, and for the upper body you want to include the ring of verts below the waist, you then flip the normals of that additional ring of faces.

Fine

Funds are not needed or possible in the way as originally implied. To fund a game, you need to pay the living costs of the members, and that's just not feasible with patreon.

If you're going to make a game with a bunch of anons, you NEED (see: NEED) each one of them to pay for their own living, therefore the game development itself does not require funds. We're already doing all of this for free, nobody is getting paid for it. Nobody ever gets paid for it unless they're already an established studio or a developer who is making passive money from past games, in which case they don't need or want to recruit a ragtag team of nodevs from /agdg/.

Oh boy here we go.

I do feel bad for the guy. There are an awful lot of people who think that the only thing holding them back is money, and not realizing what it really takes to independently complete a game project, even one of (seemingly) small scope.

Let's be honest. We're not all sitting at home staring at our computers all day trying to independently find some measure of success because we're hard-working, focused, and good at managing our time. People like that go out and get real jobs. Or they'll just make things that people like in their spare time and end up successful without needing to beg for crowdfunding money. Don't lie to yourself and think that if people just gave you money upfront then you'd be able to go and do great things. I know some of you think this. I've thought this myself.

They're very different. Because of the way 8ch works, the small cabal that has made the first boards have effective full control of the entire site (or at least 99% of the userbase) because anyone who tries to make any new board automatically gets attacked via a mix of various approaches (false flags, spam, defamation especially). The original board owners only have to put up a sticky asking for the attack and the entire userbase is siccing the competitor's board.
Now, that wouldn't matter if they didn't do it but could. The fact is they do it as soon as anything that remotely looks like a competitor pops up. Combined with the fact that the board owners are mostly disgusting redditards who often try to shut down their own community (for example, the owner of /v/ repeatedly tried to shut down ss13 because he was butthurt about one of the people who was in that community due to cancercord drama, and the /pol/ mods would ban anyone who didn't have the right opinion no matter how much time they spent writing their argument), 8ch has grown to be more cancerous than 4chan has become, which is quite the feat.
It's also why it's dwindled to less than 5% of the community it once had and people have come back to 4chan.

There is a similarity between both sites, though: their owners fucked their users over and sold out to two sides of the same coin: known exploiters who sell the userbase's information and insert malware ads for profit while using the most devious tactics possible to convince the userbase this is either not happening (8ch) or it's for their own good (4chan).

Overall, the need for a new chan has been proven with moot's final betrayal, and further incentivized by the takeover. But already none of the current 4chan userbase knows anything about 4chan as they're almost all redditards and tumblrites.

You're forgetting that people get into debt on top of earning that money (house and mortgage for instance). You also forgot that that 50k may be 40k effective while that 5m may be 2.5m effective, but that doesn't change all that much.
However you don't take into account that that person making 50k a year is not going on vacations anytime soon.

I used to go to that site but they really are cancerous. They would run ads that would never pass a CPS review while bitch and moan about how SJWs framed them by posting CP. If you ever dare try pointing out some problems with the site they would insult you until you gave up. The best and worst thing to say about the site is that it's everyone that was permanently banned from 4ch.

I think that for a time 8 did some good things but I think something like stagnation or something set in and alot of it's users are just hostile to everything.

Did that site ever even get relisted by Google?
>>
>>173690021
Good goy, good goy!
>>
>>173689880
>board owners only have to put up a sticky asking for the attack
Which happens literally never

The mods in 4chan aren't anything to look up to either. You're more likely to be banned for stupid shit (such as saying "nigger" when the mods are in a bad mood) in here than in there, and you'll never receive global bans in 8 unless you break one of the like 2 global rules. Board owners can't even give permanent bans in their own board.

That said I'd rather use a quiet site with based admins than deal with either of these sites and their kike owners, but it doesn't seem likely to happen. One of the alternate chans planned to forbid 4chan board names (like /v/ etc) which I think would be a good idea, because newfags latch onto the old boardnames and absolutely refuse to use anything else no matter how shit the board is.

I suppose it's a cash now vs. cash in increments. Although as I understand it KS doesn't exactly give a lump sum either.

I think, it's better if you are a larger small company as you don't see many of those with Patreons.

I guess barring things like different deduction rates and policies Patreon is the better choice. The only drawback is that your monthly sum can vary based on how many supporters you have, which can vary abit.

Protip: There is likely little overlap between people who spend money on Patreon and people who spend money on Kickstarter.

Protip: Different types projects work better on the two platforms.

Protip: Stop worrying about what makes the most sense (from the money spender's perspective). They are not perfectly logical creatures.

t. never made a penny on either platform lol
>>
>>173691128
It's not even a matter of motivation, why the fuck would a dev finish a game if he's getting dosh for "developing" it rather than actually finishing it?
Once he's done with the game the Patreon will dry out, all game patreons are scams that were never meant to be finished games.
