all I did was go on a 4 winstreak with the ringed knight spear (and ringed knight sword on the last win so as to switch things up) and after I died and tried to return, I was met with an endless amount of "summoning timed out"

So, you probably don't ask yourself this, "why does that guy in the last thread gank spears of the church but doesn't actually fight them, just watches?" Well I'll tell you why I do that, because there are too many spears and not enough hosts, so I don't get summoned to spears nearly enough. So, I rig the game against the host by making the spear stronger, thus making them more likely to win and get an ornament and all the more closer to them not using the spears covenant, thus making it more likely I'll get summoned in their place.

Lower your cast speed. There's a small window at the start of each spell you can roll out of, but increasing your cast speed makes it go by too quick. In webm related I'm doing it with 10 dex. You have to roll pretty early, so it only works as a preemptive fakeout and not as a panic button. It's also significantly easier to do on inclines than on flat land, but I figure all of the arena maps are full of enough bullshit to slip around on anyway. Though chances are you're really just better off using the sage ring.

Swamps are very cool though imo

I do wish less of them were poisonous, but still kept that "festering" look. Poison is just annoying pretty much, and makes me feel like I can't just walk around and see the landscape. It's okay to make them an oppressive environment, but just don't poison me the whole time. You can even poison me a little, but the poisonous sludge in all the poison swamps covers just too vast an area.

I actually greatly enjoy every poisonous/diseased area's aesthetics in all the Souls games, except Earthen Peak. I really liked how the swampy area in TRC didn't poison you but still had a ruinous, afflicted look to it. It was a little too flat and empty, but I was pleased to not see Poison buildup when I stepped into the swamp.

Gael isn't that tough until phase 3.

His cape follow-up is made to fuck with badly timed rolls, but he leaves himself open a lot during phase 2. You can also make him flinch once he pulls out his crossbow by giving him a good smack.

go farm the poison staff from the corvian caster

put on the heaviest stuff you can along with the best shield you got with 100%phys and highest dark, i used the curse ward GS

+8/9 the staff and +8/9 a bleeding bandit knife

ur set

easiset way to get poison on him is use the walls so he wont move around so much, if you go towards him then double back left after startign you go up a hill into a dead end, its great for getting the poison on him at the start

then just play super safe and bleed him out after every combo

p2 you will have to reapply poison, i suggest running to one of the ruins and then just chilling there so hes up against it with less room for you to poison him

Started this run as a sorcerer, but switched to mainly using Great Chaos Fire Orb or whatever since that lava pool it leaves is so nice.

My build is six flavors of fucked and I kinda wanna try a pyro/miracle build or something, but I just unlocked Soul Spear and turned in four books worth of shit to Karla.

You're meant to either beat the shit out of the zombie that spews black goo or run past it at that level since it's very, very tanky and hits very hard.

Dogs are probably one of the most dangerous enemies in the game no matter how much you've played because they will find a way to teleport six feet in the air, land on you, and bite you.

Just keep trying. Dodge through attacks (towards the enemy) and don't get greedy with swings of your weapon.

The first one you buy off of a merchant before encountering any enemies, the dagger us immediately afterwards and only requires running past a half dozen mooks plus one fat guy.
