It's really not better. There's 2 meta defining decks, one focused on killing you turn 6 by just strictly going face and another that just durdles for turns 1-4 and then has 3+ 5/5 minions on board and plays 1 mana 5/5 chargers. You either play Pirate Aggro and counter the Rogue Quest or play Rogue and win against any slow control deck or play a slow control deck or win against Pirates.
Add to that the occasional Exodia Mage that does nothing but stall all game and have 3+ Ice Blocks to cheat death with, then win without you being able to do anything about it because they just kill you with infinite damage.

Nowadays it's nothing but Midrange Dragon with Forte, Seabrand and, sometimes, Eyfa as finishers.

It's not, D rank. An aggro deck wouldn't use cards like Griffon Knight or Siegfried to control the board. An aggro deck wouldn't play 2pp 3 damage cards or board clear like Breath of the Salamander. An aggro deck would prioritize almost always face damage over board control. An aggro deck would prefer to go first, not second. An aggro deck aims to finish the game around turn 6 and easily runs out of steam after that, while Face Dragon finishes the game at turn 7-8 and can keep going for more turns if necessary.

i've been experimenting with a saha build that uses only 1 aegis and i'll probably cut it completely. using arriet on lucifer or israfil has been a stronger win condition in these games and israfil is incredible, especially on t7, against shadow and kys blood whereas aegis is a dead draw.

The whole ramp mechanic is what dragon centers on. Daria has better chance since spellboost mechanic cheats the cost by lowering it whereas dragon relies on faster mana gain so they can use their fatties.

That's why Daria is oppressive since they can play multiple cards. Dragon at best can do big burst.

On a longer run Dragon is more favorable if you can grind your opponent out, whereas Daria needs to finish shit asap since they burn out fast.

I tried a version with Gawain. Gawain is shit in this type of deck. The only way you can set up Walfrid is if you just keep shitting out tempo to exhaust their removal. If you play Gawain you'll almost never be able to set up turn 7 Walfrid anyways. It just always ends up being a situation where I wish I had Floral, Jeno, or Monika instead.
