Nightmare Halo is only for people who try to get 5* for their GW charas, however you'll need a crapton of mats from usual halo to make your GW weapons and get a GW character in the first place, namely 950 low orbs and 950 whorls of an element you want to create your weapon. Those numbers are for a full upgrade, but you still need 250 low orbs and quite a lot of light mats to create a GW weapon with awakened charge attack and an element of your choice, which is as far as you go if you don't want to commit to making, say, Quatre, but want a GW dagger.

tl;dr you'll need to farm lots of angel halo eventually and whorls are more common compared to scales anyway

I was just thinking the dragon trial gives 3 scales for 12 stamina, so 6 scales for 24 stamina which is one host per 24 stam.
And I think Angel Halo is like 10 whorls per run, so 100 stam for one host with whorls.
I'll start farming Halo though for the low orbs and whorls for the GW stuff.

Are the Extreme trials good for farming since they drop low orbs and scales? (and maybe whorls too? not sure)

They are good if you are sure you need specific scales, you need 50 white scales to make a basic GW weapon, for example, but in general they are too expensive to farm outside of half cost special, They drop fragments you need to forge primarch weapons though.

I'd just play Fire first if I were you. Your Fire character can already form a really dope team, and leeching Colo gives better drop rate than Chev. Percy+Yuel is already the best possible Fire team. The Celestial Beasts event is coming, you can grab a Zhuque blade, so that's very convenient.
Build Light as a side project, when you have BP to spares. Your Light team is really good too, but Chev is just a bitch and never drop anything.
