So I've supported vs Timbersaws quite a few games now. I just went ham at level 1 by abusing creep aggro + starting with nuke and Timbers just get shafted out of lane every time. Sometimes they recover, but not usually.

What can Timber really do at level 1 against aggressive supports that know how to not draw creep aggro while they beat the shit out of you?

Early on a good Ice Wall is essentially a get out of jail free card because unless they have a blink there's no way they're getting through it. Cold Snap is a 1000 range teleport interrupt and the usual shenanigans you can do with cold snap.
Quas gives you free regen so you can always win harass wars against enemy supports, you only need one point of Exhort so you can get Ice Wall, all Exhort does is increase the already irrelevant damage, while all the slow comes from Quas.
Going Quas/Wex also lets you EMP and Tornado.

Invoker really didn't need to get power crept to where he is. He'd still be strong if he didn't get Invoke level 1, needed 4 levels in Quas and Exort to get double spirits, had his old Invoke cooldowns and Agh's, his old int gain, and didn't have his level 25 talents. Invoker died for me as soon as 6.86 hit and Peruvians were running around as super-Clinkz all the time and winning games with nothing but cold snap, ghost walk, and alacrity.

There, I fixed it. Shrines are bullshit not for their healing, although partially that, but because they can be TP'd to.
It makes taking out tier 1 towers far less impactful and removes the ability to spltpush tier 2s without fear or reprisals.

Shrines make early game aggression very risky, they also make level 1 harass far less impactful. Splitpushing has been dead for several patches now it's just completely dead, there's too many ways for the enemy team to just collect free gold if you try to splitpush without bkb tp out.
And just them being teleportable to removes any pretense of map control from actually taking out towers. Until you bring down those tier 3s you have to act as if they still have all their tier 1 towers.

It's just further casualizing the game by adding yet another comeback mechanic and safety net Dota never needed in the first place.

Shrines are great. Here's one way you can use them.

1. smoke
2. have one dude push t2
3. wait for the teleports
4. stun and kill them, then 5-man the t3

Just because you can't adjust and learn new strategies dosen't make something inherently bad. Would you rather try to solo offlane with or without a reliable heal to keep you in lane, allowing your support to ward/deward, gank and otherwise be a nuisance for your opponents.

Oh fuck right off. He scales very well. Not as good as actual carries but he's very similar to Riki in terms of scaling. Treant falls off hard, Monkey King is an extremely powerful roamer that transitions well into a core.
His real problem is his long cooldowns and if he whiffs his ult a lot of his power goes out the window, but the fact he has a very hard to miss stun and his ult is a ranged cast means he generally can land an ult. Especially if he's comboing.

Punishing. If you fuck up, you die. That's how it's always been, you lose a teamfight? You lose towers. You die without buyback? You lose rax. You let the enemy team take all your towers? Well boy I hope you like walking or have enough money for some Boots of Travel, and if your lanes are pushed in you better cough up another 2k so you can TP to heroes.
You try to trade early and get your ass kicked? You get to use all your regen while the enemy freefarms, or if you're out of regen, you get to walk back to base/ferry a salve.

The past 2 years have been anti DotA as fuck, for better and for worse, but mostly worse. Comeback gold and experience has spiraled out of control. I like comeback gold, but it's absolutely ridiculous how much gold you can get for killing a support nowadays, and has been for a long time. Even if they have a fourth of your net worth, as long as the rest of their team has a lot of items you can get 400-500 gold for killing a support with a force staff and boots.

Shrines are just yet another anti DotA mechanic further making splitpushing a non mechanic while trivializing map control until you bring down tier 3s.

I like shrines and I hate shrines. One the one hand they make 5 man deathball strats much harder, but they already nerfed that repeatedly, it wasn't really a thing anymore by the time Shrines hit the scene, so while they may have been conceived with that idea in mind by the time they were implemented they failed to have any real impact on it.
