Okay anons, I've a question. I heard that you can basically just enable all DLC for the Crusader Kings II on Steam. While that sounds good on paper, since I don't have that much money to give to the jews, what are the chances of Steam catching on and subsequently punishing that?
I just started the game to play memedate in heaven for the first time and the loading screen hint I got was "the Ottomans are the strongest nation in the game, play them if you are a beginner."
Will paradox games ever go uphill in quality again?
>>173405387
as high as the chances of you dying from a car accident in the next year.
pretty fucking low
>>173405456
yes it is true they just keep on buffing them.
>>173405469
no.
Is it true that Sectors in Stellaris were supposed to be very important and huge territories that would diverge from the heartlands, really simulating an empire but they abandoned the idea and left an half-assed sectors mechanics instead because it was too much complicated for them?
>>173405561
>yes it is true they just keep on buffing them.
They reduced their coring cost national idea from 33 to 20% and also made it so the minimum you can get core reduction time down to is 6 month. Both nerfs.
>>173405586
yes. also people bitched about micro management.

Also, it's way easier to keep them divided and adding them to your swarm once you revoke. It definitely beats having a 10 italian province papal state meddling with your wars.

exporting, stockpiling and trading certain resources is extremely limited
land trade appears to be impossible (convoys are required even with landlocked countries)
you can no longer exchange provinces (maybe with cheating)
you cannot take individual territories, only regions
no "support defence" button, you either micromanage or hope that the ai will reinforce a losing unit

>>173409439
>high dev gives institutions
Silly me for forgetting
The consideration with slavs is to farm IA with them. At what date do the Ottomans become basically unstoppable without the holy allaince?
>>173409537
You are doing it wrong.
Import some Scots and make them commanders.
Make only light infantry.
That's how you win.
>>173409594
you generally want to stop them as soon as possible, before they start unifying their neighbours and their forcelimit makes them unstoppable. if you don't, other than waiting for some hundreds of years until they fall behind in tech, your options are limited.
Does adding province to the >H>R>E still increase IA, or did they patch that out, as the menu to do it says nothing?
Should i use mods for HOI3 and if so, which ones?

Tried to go back to Vicky after 5 months away from grand strategy entirely as an original secondary power (Turkey with about the same territory shown in pic related) with the intention of just caring about internal politics, pop caring and industrial buildup, but it just reminded me how fucking atrucious the economy is with worldwide shortages of a specific good happening at least once a month, plus the AI nations being the fucktards they always are. Ended the game in 1901.

>>173412234
The cap is a simplified way of saying "this country doesn't have large enough population to have more than this amount of sailors". It's not vic2, so of course they won't make a population system for it, but you can at least try to understand how it would make sense to have a cap.

sailors and manpower both represent not the amount of able-bodied men in the country, but the amount of able-bodied men -that the state can recruit-, which can be a very different thing. getting people to sign up for rum, sodomy and the lash ain't easy.

Okay. How is forming Inca? Is it hard?
I see there's this achievement: Form Inca, embrace all Institutions and own all of South America as core provinces.
Is this very hard or is it just a walk in the park-campaign that takes a bit of time?

Trial and error, plus its similiar to their other games. It's a mix of CK2 and EU3, but a bit more straightforward.
Ignore forcelimits, economy dictates army size, don't give rebellious governors the command of armies, hold triumphs for potentially rebellious commanders, if they keep being a problem just imprison/execute them. Internal politics is pretty much just a balancing act of being somewhat popular while you don't hand over any real power (armies and governorship) to your discontent adversaries.

It's kind of rng but not really. Start with Cusco. You get a god tier ruler to start with that also starts as an unbeatable general, and his son has god tier stats too.
You are basically a god among mortals and everyone just rolls over but if you die early and don't get a good general (enough maneuver to counter the mountains) you should basically restart.

The initial alliances can fuck you over. You get a mission to annex Wanka and want to blitz them on the second month. They can either ally nobody or like half the continent. Then alternate attacking the people below you and above you. Take the manpower reform first.
I've just played HoI4 for the first time recently and I realize what I don't like about it. There's no personality to the game. It feels bloodless despite the fact that it took place during one of the bloodiest eras in human history.
There's never any sense of anything happening underneath the war. There's no in depth pop system like Vicky2. Even industry and trade seem simplistic in comparison, despite how central both should be. There's no economy at all to speak of. As far as I'm aware, there's no partisans or rebels, although someone should correct me if I'm wrong. Diplomacy seems extremely weak as well.
Civilians in general seem to be pretty much a non-entity in the game, which is surprising given their role in the war as both part of the war effort through industry, fighting as irregulars, and being targets for attacks.
The thing that exemplifies all of this the most is the utter impotence of the nuclear bomb. It seems to do nothing to civilian populations and as far as I can tell, has absolutely no impact on diplomacy.
As a more complex risk, HoI4 is a nice distraction. As a WW2 simulator however, it is severely lacking in many areas.

>>173421569
the joke is that someone would unironically play the UK in vic2
>>173421350
No. All the people in the Inca area follow their own faith.
You get events regarding the authority of the ruler and you generally want to build authority.
When you reach 100 authority you can pass a reform, giving you quite a big bonus, like 10% morale or 10% manpower recovery or a free colonist.
When you pass a reform you lose 2 stability and 3 noble rebels spawn.
When you pass all the reforms and border a European nation you can reform your religion. Basically westernise.
You keep all the bonuses you got from before.
When you westernise you get I think 70% of the tech that the person you westernise off of, so if they are tech 13 you get bumped up to tech 10 regardless of where you were before.
You also get any institutions they have and automatically embrace them.
When you westernise you lose your massive mana cap and when the month ticks you lose any mana over 999 that you have so you should spend it all.
If you weren't an idiot you were spending it on developing your dank ass gold provinces so it shouldn't matter.
I'm going to bed now so no more spoon feeding.

You also get a separate decision to convert to Christianity if 1 of your provinces is Christian.
And if you border a western nation for about 25 years and haven't reformed you started getting really shit maluses and it's basically game over.Seriously, open the triggered modifiers list and look at the collapse of the empire thing.
So what's the best way to stop my daimyos from waring with each other? Is there a way to declare war on my subjects without taking a huge stability hit, or am I supposed to wait until I have +3 stability before squashing the fools?

The Pharaoh fucked up.
The inevitable conquest of Seleucid lands caused demand for loyal and great men, and their sons, to govern the new provinces, and to lead armies that could stand against the unending hordes of mostly Persians. Great men that are currently unemployed and thus grow to resent the Pharaoh.
He had a great plan; make everybody not on duty an admiral on a remote island.
The Pharaoh perished at 45 and his son took the crown at 16.
He remained unmarried past his father's age. There wasn't enough pussy to go around because EVERYONE had a boat and spent all their time on Rhodos.
The problem solved itself with his father's generation's granddaughters. The 50 years old virgin married a Greek girl one month past her 16'th birthday.

Well, the reason I know about Quebec isn't because I know about NA, it's because I know the trade network. Good advice for a blobby EU4 game (there's no other type of game, really) is to learn the trade network - if you are ever stuck on what to do it will show you which way you need to expand.
Short term? You want Quebec
Medium term? You want the nodes that feed Quebec
Long term? You want the node that Quebec feeds. That's London.
Also, about not being able to core? Just take their coin and end rivalries for prestige n shit.

Oh shit, that's neat. And yes. See those provinces with a little square icon? Those are estuaries or inland-centres of trade - they give you massive leverage over the trade node itself. I've been calling it Quebec but it looks like it is called Dacona on your map?
Taking Chesapeake Bay is your medium term. Especially because you should probably be grabbing as much coastline as possible to stop Norway, England, Scotland and Brittany from getting a foothold. You're then controlling the node that feeds your home node (St Lawrence) and stopping colonisers at the same time.
Is there anything more beautiful than this?

Removed literally everything that made prolonged war for germans(and minors) hard(aka supplies and strategic resources mean jack shit) and only semi limiting thing is manpower. Also no diplomacy, no intelligence, trade is as relevant as in CK2, no actual control of your army unless you micromanage it but then you lose out of various bonuses and OOB.

Money is really short, I'm barely scraping by. Maybe economy is the way to go then. I already have two colonists and global settler increase is part of my national ideas. Development cost is also part of my national ideas, so is tech cost and core-creating cost.

it steals a portion of the trade going through the node
But unless you can't direct trade to your center of trade it's usually more profitable to steer trade instead. You can use it to piss off other nations or your income is good enough to get more out of reducing your enemies trade over increasing your own.

Get 60-70% trade power in a node, if you can get 60-70% in a node downstream try to move your trade capital there and push from your old home node.
You can try and collect in nodes other than your home nodes that you can't steer towards you. Make sure the profit you get from it is bigger than the penalty you get to steering to your home node. Other than that just make sure you dominate your home node so ducats don't get pushed out. I've played asian games where I am sitting on extra merchants that I could only use to steer from shitty 1 ducat nodes.

Started playing eu3 in vanilla, each expansion was a straight improvement until dw where it was just a sidestep into a different game.
Streamlined and much more like eu4 vanilla with a few nice features.
Worse combat, worse advisor management, worse building mechanics due to how the new buildings added more hard values like +thousands manpower instead of % which heavily detracted from the value of specific provinces.

Yeah it was good that they added provinces, just some memeing.
I actually wanted more switzerland provinces while I played that game, but it would've made that game play worse due to tech being based on #provinces.
I think I'd probably want provinces split up even more in some areas in eu4 for more involved war movement, but that would have severe effects on value since manufactories give +1 goods, and developing cost is based on existing development. Maybe Something like giving province several "areas" you can place your army in without giving it more buildings and developing opportunities.

Now it might be time for exploration.
Colonize towards natives and annex them.
What are your goals?
Have you developed Renaissance in a province yet?
You won't need to develop for all institutions.
But probably Feudalism, Renaissance, Colonialism, printing press. Maybe not Colonialism depending on how euroes colonize towards you. Maybe not some of the others if you have a native that reforms their religion from a euro.
You develop 1 single province until it gets the institution, and then you let it spread.
The amount of the institution you get is based on the amount of development the province gets after you develop that step, the sweet spot is around 16 development provinces.
Manufactory, Global Trade and Enlightement will just spread fine towards you as long as you build the buildings and get the CoTs.

RotA seems to be more well-made overall but I don't like how there are no empty provinces. As annoying as it is sometimes, I like the migrating/rampaging barbarians, colonizing and raiding their provinces for slaves.
>>173446905
What's that?
>>173447609
Theres a CB to force the people to migrate over a province and you keep their old one. I dont know the requirements to get it I just know its there. Used it all the time when I played vanilla.

That's the exact RP logic I used when devouring Ireland as Scotland in order to beat Wales.
The trouble with the Ottomans is that they don't have any strong neighbours except maybe Mameluks (at a push) so you weakening them isn't the same as weakening someone like France or Spain. That said, hopefully your second war against them is much easier.
Did you rape their manpower and loot their provinces?

Ah okay.
Just expanding across the americas should be enough then.
I didn't reach 500 as yeren(manchu horde), but half of my stated development had 50% autonomy due to tribes.
You'll be able to make much more just staying in america. You'll make much much more by also going for north sea, english channel, sevilla, ivory coast etc though
Administrative fairly early on can be a good idea, but I believe in explo now.

I honestly don't know off the top of my head because it's not a continent I've started on. Off the top of my head I would say "wait for them to get in a European war and then declare on them". Don't worry about the Carribean just yet but definitely steal that Spanish stuff if the opportunity presents itself.
>>173451264
>if you want their resources you might as well just sphere them
What are communist revolts, which happen all the time in South America, also it does because the puppeting mechanics are lackluster as fuck in first place. As I said, (kill yourself).

That's the thing though, the installer doesn't install CPRplus because it says that I don't have the DLC (Which I do, but pirated). Unless there's a way to fool it, it won't install it.

Raise autonomy in the provinces, there should be a button in the province with a chain and a + that would slow it down considerably if not stop it.

Truce ended. Hadim is on my doorstep 24k strong. Can't tech 5 till November. God protect me.
How do I make it as a pirate in After the End?
I started from Tortuga then managed to nab the Duchy of Haiti. I now have two options:
1. Get holy warred by the Caribbean Emperor who has double the troops.
2. Join the Caribbean Empire but forget being a based pirate because they can take away my title because I'm not a rastafari.
>>173454698
>Any negatives to that?
You only raise autonomy if you can't beat the rebels. As they're only 10k and your army is 70k you'll have no problem beating them.
>>173454698
It lowers manpower and taxes in the province but unrest already does that.
>>173454698
>Any negatives to that?
raising autonomy lowers the gains you get for that province, for example a province with 20% autonomy will give you only 80% in tax, manpower and production. conversely higher autonomy provinces are cheaper to get in a peace deal
>>173454902
His manpower is at 33k, fighting all those rebels will make it impossible to expand for years. Taking a small cash hit is nothing.
>>173452724
>>there's one free one south Indian portraits that can fuck up the install

>>173455093

So, what the hell's going on? I got my CK2 from PB. Should I have to really REALLY create an account on that russian website to get the DLCs?
