First playthrough of DS3 here, and two questions:

1. I've been finding a lot of items that tell me that I can learn miracles, but I have no NPC in Firelink Shrine that teaches them. Did I miss something? I'm currently at Abyss Watchers.

2. I feel like I do pretty shitty damage. I'm using a Butcher Knife +3 and I have a Fire Battle Axe +2. Neither feels great. I have enough titanite shards to upgrade something from 0 to +4, any suggestions for weapons?

So has anyone gotten "stuck" by a mad phantom invasion glitch on the spears of the church fight before? I'm having fun with the glitch but I noticed it stops the boss from summoning sometimes making the host stuck. I wondering what happens when I leave, does the host remain stuck or does the boss appear after that? I don't want to be a dick just have fun the glitch.

The most common soft caps for str and dex are 40, but you can also go 66 str so when you 2 hand you have 99 str, becausw of the multiplier. For me, the most fun strength weapon that early on is the Great Club, just because of how great the R2 is.

Best place to farm evangelist? I've been going into Cliff Underside and just kill the one near the bridge then cross to the giant tower and drop to the fire demon area to kill the other two and go back.
Someone said I should go crystal sage bonfire towards cathedral and kill that one since it's faster.
Alternatively, does anyone have a spare spiked mace and evangelist hat?

When I was farming them I just picked the bonfire near the bridge and birch tree then continually killed that one overlooking the area before the bonfire. If you get her attention and then stand under her for a second you can usually make her jump down which makes for an easy backstab.

Its pretty good for PvE since the charged R2 will kill and ragdoll most things if you can sneak up on them, and it should be pretty good in PvP because its an UGH and has poise. The R2 is good at catching people unaware just because of how much range it has, but if that fails, you can just warcry and get a new R2 that is actually weaker but may still catch people.
It isnt the best hammer, but it is a Great Club

You want 60-66 STR. It scales up to 99 with diminishing returns only between 41-50ish then it ramps up again. Also one of the best STR weapons requires 60 STR.

It's probably best to wait for a few weeks. DS3 had the DLC drop and another couple of patches on top, so none of the most popular CE tables are working correctly right now. And to make matters worse, the brony subhuman that hosts the CE website thought it'd be a good idea to delete something like ten years of tables from the forums to avoid personal liability so the scene has kind of fractured and fragmented.

DS3 will get an up to date and definitive table. People are already working on it, but if they put it out now it'd probably just be made invalid by the next huge balance patch. Just keep an eye on /dsg/ and jump on a reply if you see someone mention anything about a new table.

If you really want to use CE, refer to this for now. It has a few links in the first section that should point you in the right directions.

You're welcome, cutie pie. I hope you don't get blown up again! CE really does improve the game in so many ways. All I use it for is to set up a themed invader. Takes fifteen minutes to edit in all of the items. Upgrade weapons, upgrade estus flasks, unlock bonfires, invade anywhere in the game with cracked red eyes. As soon as I get bored I just delete the character and make a new one.

I know I'm late for the party here, since I just bought DS3 now that the final DLC has come out, but holy shit, is there anything more satisfying than low level gank spanking? I swear as long as you manage the npc enemies, and are good at pvp, you'll blow them the fuck out 8/10 times. The only times I hate it when I invade gank squads of 3-4 people, all with end game gear, who have already cleared out the whole level. There's really nothing you can do there. FROM should have made it so you could have 2 or 3 red/purple phantoms invade at the same time. Also blue sentinels/blades of the darkmoon are a joke. They literally cannot put up a decent fight to save their lives.

I've been hearing horror stories of high level pvp though. Is it really that shit? I've been PVPing at levels 25-35. Any tips of what the best pyro+STR weapon would be?

What's so good about the mace? RHH seems better in nearly all respects as a perseverance weapon, just a little heavier and uses 2 more FP.

Why is Valorheart so shit?
The concept is great, low damage weapon that's super stamina heavy but can trade with small to medium weapons by timing block frames. Then you use it and realize that half the moveset will miss while locked on, if the other guy does anything other than just stand still.
You can see an incoming Katana running attack and want to trade through it with block frames? Too bad, the katana slides around the side of you and your narrow R1 misses.
Wanna manually aim a narrow vertical slash to make sure your R1 connects? Too bad, if you time the attack late enough to block the katana then the other guy can actually roll out of your hit, because of timing differences due to latency.
Think you can use it against greatsword and heavier weapon meta? Nope. Even if you time the block frames correctly and don't miss with your shitty hitbox and hit the other guy before they can roll out, you swing into the improved HA and then lose the followup.
Why are all the fun weapons shit reeee.

The Dark Souls teams are fucking super shit with bandaid and reactionary patches

Bloodborne never had ANY weapons nerfed apart from the outright broken shit like Arcane Rifle Spear that literally did 4k damage a second and was legit broken broken.

Apart from that, everything was "Miyazaki's vision". Dark Souls 2 and 3 had so many changes and balance patches because it's all literally unbalanced and whatever and they give 0 shits about 90% of the weapons until reddit complains and they overnerf something.

People screamed to nerf Arcane wheel in Bloodborne weeks and weeks, before that, blood gemmed chikage, and Fromsoft didn't do shit, and rightfully so, because FUN is what's important.

When they nerfed and killed FUGS immediately before PCucks even got the game, I knew we were in for a rough ride with this game.

They'd rather spend time nerfing weapons that are fun and good, than just making all the shit weapons better. Saints Bident is STILL fucking turd, as is the Broken Straight Sword (should've had a unique hollow spammy weapon art to make it interesting)

So I noticed I get concords now when I escort hosts to boss fogs, kicking out invaders.

was it always like this? usually my host gets himself killed or I kill the invader so this is my first few times walking hosts to the fogwall because the invader is fucking off in some obscure corner.

Sharp on Dexfaith builds it now deals legit damage while being the 2nd longest spear. It's in a good place now, I'd say most of the weapon class is weaker than Saints.
Souls has more balance problems because it has far more weapons. It has far more weapons because it's the 3rd game in a series which was already carrying over items from DeS and now they just have too much baggage going on. Starting afresh would be a good idea.

Just stay back and wait for his hands to stop moving for a second. Then charge in and attack his gaudy bracelets till they break. He'll keep trying to gas you though, so be careful not to get too close...especially if hes moving up the map.
