Anyone got a demon whose skill setup is carrying you hard?

I've kept a Koppa Tengu that became a Karasu and then a Kuruma because it's got Life Drain + Makatora, so it basically shits out free MP. Plus Fog Breath + Tarukaja + -kunda + Rakunda + Tornado. It's really fucking useful.

Holy shit, this is the best story of the series. People who say it sucks probably just got pissed when the game pushes the friendship route. It even works thematically because Dagda wants you to see beyond the need for others and become strong enough to live on one's own, to enjoy the company of others, like goddess waifu, while still being able to be independent. He was right about literally every single thing in the story.

From what I've experienced, one of my "friends" was really hype for P5, even though not having played one before & saying how its been a long time since a Persona game came out. I've tried to get him into an SMT game, but he hasn't finished 4 & has said to me that SMT & Persona are the same.

I just think he's just one of those bandwagons that follow fandoms & leave when another game sparks interest

There's no actual benefit to this. It would be a lonely world where progress is ground to a halt since people who aren't about to have bonds and learn from groups would have a much harder time making any kind of technological progress. Dagda is kind of pulling your leg about how little freedom demons have though. Demons aren't all locked to one form. They can change forms, changing their nature. And there's hordes of forms, so they can probably fine one that is whatever they want to be. We see demons changing forms plenty in the games. This is you misunderstanding the point of the plot again. Dagda's world is not about preventing cosmic events. It actually implies the opposite. Now there's no pantheon to keep out shit demons, so humans themselves will be directly involved in these events all the time. The relation between humans and demons is not inherently parasitic. Its a metaphor for the flow of ideas. Dagda's world is about a form of humanity too self interested to work in collective ideas. Gods also bring benefits. One that won't exist in his world.

From there to YHWH, it's a cakewalk. Terrible balancing in the game means your experience has great potential to be completely skewed from the intended one.

Use freeshop and get them all. Cleo is probably the best demon in the game thanks to her resists and her signature skill alluring banter, which can debuff to -3 defense even if they are at +3. Mephisto isn't nearly as good but he's still cool to have. Messiah one, dungeon sucks but the final boss battle is fairly challenging

The first several of those points relate to player agency. When you have more possible builds and viable options, it's more fun. Weighing the pros and cons of each option leads to more diversity in your demon stock and is a great part of what makes the fusion system so fucking fun. The less viable options you have, the more homogenous your experience, and the less impact you have on the game. A great part of the appeal of SMT especially is the weight of your choice, so getting rid of this is a huge detractor.
No almighty spam means you don't need to learn how the enemy works, you basically have the same battle plan for any given boss/fiend because you don't need to learn their triggers, you just have to develop a single plan for all battles. Another way the game reduces your input on the way things unfold.
My problem with smirk isn't that salvation doesn't bail you out all the time, it's just stupid that when you DO need it's effect, it's unavailable. This means it's essentially mediaharan unless your demon that has it is immune to status and has a reliable method of obtaining smirk. It's just annoying that you can't count on it to quickly heal sick/poison, which are more obnoxious than dangerous.
I don't care that I can't carry 20 beads of life, I care that when I find another one after that, the chest just closes so I have to remember to stop checking it when I'm mapping out the dungeon and I can't use it as a marker to tell if I've already been there or not.
The point about hama and mudo is again related to the homogenization of the gameplay

Another annoyance is that map data doesn't carry over between cycles. Nitpick yes but seriously why the fuck doesn't it?

Mag build is considered the best in IVA I believe, but do what you like. Even on hard mode, the game isn't particularly hard (assuming you're decent at it) aside from a few (mainly in late game).

I played the SFC versions too, DMANUFACTURE is still working on MTII fpr the Famicom (maybe)' but I am excited for that day.

Basically, don't be afraid to use guides and save states. MTI is fucking brutal without them. The guides on GameFAQs are ancient and partially inaccurate (based on the FC versions iirc, the SFC port changed some dungeons), so they're just helpful nudging most of the time. Well if you're gonna be that way no game with proper Alignments really ever leans Chaos either. Only Nocturne and even then TDE was an afterthought added in a re-release and clearly separated from the main story which heavily favors the reset button kind of Neutral.

SMT 2's Law ending is by far the most positive ending for that game.
