Again, my point is that the only truly different aspect about Gaiden and Shadows of Valentia by extension is how magic works and the villages. Everything else is simply a variation on a mechanic, just like how future games would take a mechanic from an older game and tweak it. All games in the series do this. We try to pick every little difference between games, then there is no traditional Fire Emblem experience aside from FE1.

But the way the story is told, how it related to the traditional setting of Archanea-Jugdral and it's history, how the gameplay flows is all traditional.

Pair Up, Dual Attack and Dual Guard, Reclassing, My Castle, the various newer types of skills such as rallys (from Awakening) and seal X, proper AOE skills, avatar, how is any of this even remotely traditional FE? Gaiden on the other hand laid the foundation of what many future FE games would adapt for their own sake after FE1 came up with the gameplay style.
