Okay, just spent the last hour and a half or so grinding that stair with the Haralds to get enough levels to put myself at 60 Dex with Hunter's + Milkring. Now to wait and see just how worthless the Sharp buff is going to be.

Still have three respecs available and only SoC to beat before NG+2, so I can just revert to a quality build if I need to.

It's so you can use a basic weapon effectively if your build is putting a lot of points into a magic stat. It was passable before 1.32, but then they nerfed it by increasing the physical scaling of elemental infused weapons and reducing the elemental scaling, which makes no sense because casters aren't investing in a lot of STR/DEX for a reason.

Nig, I feel the opposite way, it's more like that 1v1 spear is fucked: no sippies, normal hp and resists.
I've been wrecking spears for 4 hours and lost only once to that horizontal spear barrage (it does surprisingly high damage if you fail to dodge).
Dunno about much it scales with 1v2 v3 and so on, but when I got summoned in 1v3 scenario some attacks that normally stagger me didn't. Maybe it's actually better case for a spear to be in 1v2 or more.

Yeah I recorded some before and after sampling all the Infusion options on a Long Sword, and it looked like all of the elemental ones are worse.

Base damage goes from 88/88 to 76/76 on Crystal and Simple, and the scaling bonus got worse as a result, since it's probably based on base damage.

90% of those weapons are awful for casters. They always was awful. No one use dark murakumo, zwei, AGS etc. They're useless even if you buff them. Other ones are slightly worse than their quality/str analogue. Not big deal. Buff/nerf changes nothing.

Been using this bad boy for Spear shenanigans. I like to get into character as the boss as well, only using the WA once the second guardian spawns and going into the Prayer emote after beating them. WOG is really good for gank spanking, even with this suboptimal stat spread I do like 500 damage to them. I also try and keep the Guardians alive with Projected Heal, and since the War Banner WA is an AOE they also get more damage in phase 2. Good shit all around.

So I heard Crucifix has good Fai scaling and meh Str scaling despite the letters. I want to make a SL97, 60 FAI Dark Blade build, so I need to cut as much as I can. How important is STR to the damage of the weapon? If I could cut it to 19 without worry then I will.

Heavy infusion isn't necessarily nerfed. It's saying that the scaling is worse when your weapon is at low upgrades. So a weapon infused with Heavy at +10 is unaffected. You're fine.

1) you should kill first one before a spear spawns. Good case if you kill or hurt spear before second one even spawns.
2) Line up boss and guardian and then, you know, just swing, if spear is melee he won't probably roll into your swings.
Soulmasses do joke damage, row of spears if easy to dodge, unless it comes from some werid angle.
It gets slightly harder against something like ledo's or lamo2ugs because you have to manage your stamina carefully.
