My point is that we can't expect this moderation team to seriously combat circlejerking when the circlejerking is being done by their buddies. The "ivory tower" is literally the circlejerk -- no one but namefags interested in chatting outside of the game go there, so of course it naturally filters out anons who just want to fucking case. This is one of those things that bothers me, but I can't do anything about. Mainfagging doest just make cases stale with the same 20-30 character pool,(i.e when every fucking pro bench had an adachi) it's condusive to names-esque shitposting and dragging attitudes from OOC into IC because how a certain person plays the character becomes almost like a default.

But what can you say when they're just playing the game in a way they enjoy and not forcing anything? Nothing, because it's an asshole thing to do.

As a witness, refusing to budge on any unintended contradictions, basically forcing the defense to find your one specific contradiction to move on and ruining the whole point of improv.

It's generally expected that a witness or similar will yield under an entertaining amount of pressure, with evidence, contradictions etc. all being a factor.

Some people will absolutely refuse to budge on even the smallest points. Severity varies, but we've seen some mean walls.

So, uh, after that wild ride of drama and bullshit I've cooked up some possible rule additions that I wanted to kind of throw out there and see if there were any opinions on them.

Formally titled the "Fuck off back to OOC" Act, it has the following provisions:

>"Namedropping" refers to the act of referring to a player as their out-of-character username or nickname, unrelated to their in-character name.

>Namedropping during a case which is in progress is strictly prohibited.
>Namedropping a player who has requested to not be namedropped beforehand is prohibited.
>Targeting a specific player for harassment (including but not limited to: namedropping, case crashing, and witch-hunting) over any period of time is strictly prohibited.

And then the only one I'm kinda meh on is

>Moderators and server staff namedropping players who are not moderators and other staff without a clear or necessary purpose is prohibited.

This rule is only necessary for the mods who think it's fun to constantly meme and namedrop people for no reason.

The general goal is to remove the parts of circlejerk culture which are objectively negative, rather than the ones I simply find annoying or pathetic. Also I attempted to make the rules as clear as possible. Alright, tear'em to pieces, please. Remember that they don't all have to be adopted, though.

What do you mean by this? There can only be negatives from, say, harassing people. So why not have a rule against it?

It is common courtesy to respect someone's request to not namedrop them, but there's no need for it to be a rule OOC-wise.

As for moderators not being able to namedrop, I'm more curious why you suggested it. Mods have always been (supposed to be) semi-anonymous on the server, making a specific rule for them just seems to go against that.

I mean... why not? Even if the punishment is very minor, a 30-second mute or something, I feel it would do wonders towards differentiating OOC and IC.

Which is why I agree it should be against rules to namedrop in cases.

IC only really count as in case (which again, I agree, needs to be differentiated from out of a case), while recess/building/idle is not in character.
