Anyone who's been exposed to more technical, more dynamic fighting games will quickly pass on tekken. Other top fighters, namely Street Fighter, KoF and MK have advanced impressively in their latest installments; but the relic that is tekken just can't seem to evolve, furthermore many combos can be done simply by hitting 1-button, and the nearly "instant-kill" rage art moves are just laughably broken. Instead of a supplying a proper fighting engine, matches in T7 seem to rely heavily on "who can get their rage move off first". So many elements of the gameplay don't even require any sort of skill. In my book, slow motion over and over again also gets old very quickly. And in the end, it's more of a novelty or gimmick rather than an actual, thought-out fighting game mechanic. But hey, the casual crowd will be pleased!

If you want something a little more "button-masher-friendly," tekken might be your cup of tea.... Key word, might.

I said I've been playing off and on since sign and I regularly attend locals tournaments and offline events. It's not a matter of me recognizing patterns and using stuff like IB and FD, it's the fact this game has so many options and at every step of the way the opponent is three steps ahead of me no matter who I play against. I haven't had this issue in any other fighting game I've played; again I just don't think GG is for me even though I really enjoy playing it.

SFV was my first fighting game I took seriously.

After being on and off with it I recently decided to get back into it and am now a Silver.

Just had placed 3 FT3's in Battle Lounge, beat the guy 3-0 (with what I found to be his secondary), then he beat me 3-0 then in the third set he led 2-0 then I came back 3-2.

I think I'm finally learning to love fighting games but here's the thing: I play Urien.

Am I a fraud 16er who should never play SF again?

Adding to what other people said, for Mika punch command grab sideswitches and throws them away so it's bad if you have them cornered, but it also does the most damage and range on average. Kick command grab does less damage and has less range, but if you dash after doing it you are close to them at advantage (+2) so you get oki and it also doesn't sideswitch so if they are close to the corner they stay there.
