Didn't draw a Roach yet and still had two Beetle Warrior left in the deck. With 26 cards I had about a 20%~ chance to "topdeck" the win.

It's not like I intentionally slow played or even took time from making actions to emote, I had to wait on the stack getting played regardless.

Gawain doesn't save sword. It's the better legendary of the two in the expansion but not by much.
ToG didn't give sword anything close to the power of Albert. This is the difference between the early RoB and early ToG complaints about the class.

What sword REALLY needed was two things:

None of the gold or legendary cards are useful. Only Luminious Mage and Vagabond Frog actually add something to the class. Everything else is just "turn x do nothing" or interact with a board you won't have in Removalverse.

I pretty much said on the first day of ToG that Sword was going to be bad this time because of Dragon being good and it's looking that way so far. They can't counter their ramp and powerful cards unless they play aggro. Even then aggro can get fucked up Rahab, Sybil, and Salamander Breath. If they have 15 HP and 8 PP you basically have no chance of winning.

Yeah I think I'm going to give up on Gawain after only a couple hours with the deck and trying multiple things. I'm very disappointed with how Roland turned out as well.
You either die to aggro or don't have the tools you need to clear the board later on.
Swords lack of proper board clear and healing doesn't fare well in this meta and dragon is more or less a hard counter.

The only way I can see sword being played is with the frog meme or going back to aggro and hoping for the best.

For 40 packs that's a great roll. Almost double average in terms of quantity, and getting a Cerberus out of the way is ideal because Standard legendaries are a bitch to pull. Golds are below average in quantity but not by too much, and trying to actually pull golds you want is a bitch anyway. They're usually really good early crafting targets because in all sets prior to ToG they're individually almost as rare as legendaries but you can craft 4 of them for less dust than one legend (and your deck benefits much more from doing so).

Overall I'd say it's a great keep for focusing Shadowcraft.

Reminder that sword needed a fucking 6pp legendary.

the only thing that change is that more heals for dragon and more ramping (and also card drawing if you are actually using the egg because they usually run out of shit back then when they hit overflow )
