I need advice on what to do with Despot Cherouvim.

He had a dream of becoming emperor so he started attacking his neighbors in Sicily, overthrowing the catholic pope with mercenaries, and now he has went ahead and usurped the kingdom of Lombardy.

He is old though, and will die soon. Is there any chance he could still become emperor? I tried my hardest to lead him to success but I've fallen short on the ultimate goal. He had to break a truce to become king so if he attempts to form a faction to make himself emperor he'll end up with no allies besides his own vassals and I'm like 90% sure he'll have to fight off internal factions to stop council power laws. His only ally is a countess with 600 troops.

I've played many game where I had to break the roaches(namely Byzantium; Ragusa -> Croatia -> Balkan Empire; Venise). It's always the same shit. You have to break them at the reallybeginning or waituntil Russia turns into a monster.

Usually Ottomans will fight Poland or Russia at least once. It's your best chance to strike. Wait until they send their troups far away then rush to take constantinople and other fortresses. Then watch their exhaustion skyrocket.

Having strong allies is a plus..

Other solution when you play as a small country nearby:

How the fuck is an Austria start in Mayo y Tejas supposed to work? You start broke as shit without being Emperor, and even if you're able to become Emperor you can't really enforce any unity within the Empire because sieges take forever, so you have to slowly watch the Empire crumble around you. And even if you're miraculously able to become Emperor quickly, you have to deal with either France becoming a constant enemy if you want to enforce unity on the Burgundian provinces they control, or accept that you're never going to get them back and ally with them.

Is there some solution to how awful this shit is that I'm not seeing? You even start hostile with Hungary and with them protecting most of the neighbors you need to fuck up. You're not strong enough to handle anything on your own so obviously you need a strong ally, but there is none, at least none strong enough to fight France. For example the Feudal Society bonus in the Age of Discovery means I might actually create vassals instead of just eating territory. Or the one that requires you to unify provinces of your culture group rewards playing the game in a way that makes sense, e.g. blobbing into lands that should actually be yours. It makes you change up your playstyle from how it usually is.

Some of the goals are better than others though. One of them is "Join the Reformation: Convert to Protestant or Reformed" which is silly because everyone's doing that anyway since Catholic is shit. But I have to say they really improved it from how it originally was.

The bonuses seem cool too, I like the new modifiers like Free Force March.

You know how when you make a peace deal, it costs bird mana, and having the stuff you're taking be part of the wargoal means it costs less? Everything you're taking that ISN'T part of the wargoal is considered "unjustified demands". So if you have -10% Unjustified Demands then you're spending 10% less bird mana in each peace deal where you take extra shit that wasn't part of the goal.

However -10% isn't really a big deal. First of all bird mana isn't as useful as paper mana for example so it's not THAT in demand. Also, if you're taking provinces from a rival, you get -33% Unjustified Demands anyway, so another 10% isn't really that great as a government bonus when you can have stuff like National Tax Modifier, Discipline, or Morale of Armies instead.

Also there's a hard cap of 200 dip per peace item, so if for example you're making someone release a huge vassal and it'd normally cost over 200 dip, then Unjustified Demands is doing literally nothing for you because it will still cost 200 dip.

I went over infamy limit and I've fought multiple containment wars and won them all but the event about my ultimate victory doesn't show up. I've done this before and it's worked fine. I think the issue is that my mil score is significantly higher than some of the lesser GPs that they don't want to go to war with me

anyway the whole thing seems a bit unfair. the international pariah modifier is really fucking bad and I don't see how some of it can be justified, like the super low organization regain rate.
