My friends say he is shit mostly because he is frail and short range. His only saving grace is tower warding.

2. Bane
I like bane because if strong single target disable. But my friends say he is crap because"stunning yourself to stun someone else is retarded". Also linkens can fuck him over. Or anti mages scepter.

3. Ancient apparition
I like him but you have to get Midas because you can't farm and getting Midas is rough when you are a support. Also, he is slow and frail and very easy to jump. Invis heroes are his nemesis.

Shadow shaman is good as shit now with the buff to his base attack damage, he literally ends the offlaner if they misplay for one moment and your carry isn't retard. We also get that spicy meme of near 100% disable time at level 25, but hopefully your game hasn't run that long.
His point with bane is completely invalidated because you have 3 other single target spells that will break linken's before you fiend grip, this means you probably won't get them with a gank, but you still have the gross team fight ability with being able to flat out remove their carry from the fight.
The stuff about ancient apparition is true, but that's because its just the weaknesses of the hero, on the other hand he is a counterpick god with being able to completely ruin those that work off health regen or just sit in the middle of a teamfight. So great, you can't first pick spam a hero every game just like 99% of the cast, who would have thought.
Anyway tell your friend that he just needs to get good with the heroes because all of the things that he is talking about as "wow this hero sucks" is just him trying to justify his bad play.

I am losing more games now to a 4 core lineup.

This fucking game just doesn't have enough methods to end a game early to punish this shit. They nerfed push meta and now every game runs 35-60 mins. Coincidentally, 35 mins is about what it takes for a carry to turn on.

The game also has become about how many bodies can a team throw at a base too. Games non-stop get to a point where one team is stuck in base, waiting to kill all players on the pushing team and then run to their base and finish the ancient.

Shit is weird right now. I personally feel that cores have become too strong. Not because their items are too strong but because they can get said items easier.

Am I correct? Is dota 2 really just about cores?
