How the fuck do I deal with these constant kamikaze planes and bombers? I feel like the only thing I can do is start out as AA and hang back for the first fuckers that spawn.

The armor was quickly improved with the M1IP, and the Abrams was made to be readily upgraded to the 120mm, it's just at the time 105mm KE penetrators like the M774 and M833 were still quite comparable if not outright superior to early 120mm sabots such as the DM13 and DM23. It's just that 105mm ammunition was reaching the peak of its growth potential while 120mm had more room to improve, by which point Abrams were already packing 120mms. Other than that though ,it's true that the base M1 Abrams was nothing special upon its introduction.
