Any calculus bros here? The new matchmaking seems to make things worse statistically.

With those facts you can calculate:
>7/15 games or 47% of all games will be -2 tier
>5/15 or 33% will be -1 tier
>3/15 or 20% will be +-0 (top) tier

Now if you also take the forced high tier round every ~6th round into account you get:

>27% -1
>34% +-0

While +-0 makes up for -2, -1 games are still a disadvantage so overall every player that doesn't play exclusively T10 will be 5% heavily disadvantaged and 32% moderately disadvantaged.

In summary, the new matchmaking will make the average active player (tier 6.5) be disadvantaged more often than being advantaged.
Also the preference for +-2 games will mean less same tier games and with that way more unbalanced game then we already have.


I left out calculation per tier and accounting for the different tiers per game, but I think the overall direction will be for players to be disadvantaged anywhere from 1/3 to 2/3s of the games. 2/3 if you don't at least play 6 games per session.

The big question is how much time the matchmaker will allocate before it makes a decision for a +-1 or +-0 game and it can't be tested properly on the somewhat empty test server.
If it works exactly like what the patch notes say though and the server usually being quite full, then the majority of the games will have the 2 tier gap, which translates into way more 15:0 games overall, regardless of what each player personally gets.

It is true that the major disadvantage from being -2 is relatively smaller in the new matchmaking compared to the current version.
When you think about it that, it's true that you will be disadvantaged most of the time, but effectively less than before, meaning you might be able to perform even better with personal skill since the amount of +2 tanks is now way lower.
