Read the General problems FAQ before asking questions. If you still need help, post your specs (Speccy screenshot), operating system, emulator version number and details of what's wrong.

Please contribute to the wiki if you discover any inaccuracies or have relevant information to append.

READ THE WIKI BEFORE ASKING QUESTIONS LIKE:
>Where do I get games
OR
>What is the best emulator for...

Check out the wiki for the emulator you're using if you run into trouble, there may be a solution there too, often including recommendations for optimal game settings.

Remember to submit bug reports or shit won't get fixed.

How is emulation on the ps3? I want to do easy emulation, and retroarch on pc requires tons of troubleshooting to get perfect, and wii emulation is 480p. I am thinking of installing lakka on my thinkpad x61 and trying that, because I don't really want to get a rpi, and I already have the ThinkPad.
>>
>>172775482
I bet your butt does :)
>>
>>172776701
Not great. The system is all that powerful for emulating, and the only emulators available are a handful of libretro cores on an outdated retroarch build.
It can also only go done to 720x480, which some CRTs don't like and will crop off some of the picture.
>>
>>172777261
>The system is* all that powerful
*isn't
I've heard it's on par with a Pentium III clock-to-clock.

>>
>>172777594
>PS3 CPU being anywhere close to a theoretical P3 @ 3.2Ghz
It's barely scratching a willamette P4 that not even clocked as fast performance wise.
And those could barely match the 1.4Ghz P3-S even tat double the clockspeed.

cemu 1.7.4 is out boyss

>>
So I was thinking about re-playing the original Resident Evil, since I was 8 when it came out and didn't actually speak any english. But now I'm conflicted, should I get the pretty good lucking HD Remaster from steam, or should I go full hog and Emulate the PS1 version?
>>
1.7.4 cemu just went out for patrons. Someone get on cracking that
>>
>>172795774
The remake has different puzzles and changed the map layout a bit.
It's a better game overall, but you probably won't feel very nostalgic with that version.
>>
>>172796017
Like I said I was 8 and didn't speak the language at all. here's my full memory of the game.
>bits of the mansion
>not having enough ammo
>door opening loading screens
>shit being creepy
I'm not sure it'll be enough to make me feel really nostalgic for it desu.
But really my biggest reason for emulating right now is that the remakes cost 20 Eurobucks each.
btw, I heard some cutscene material was removed from the US/EU version, was that ever restored?
>>

>But really my biggest reason for emulating right now is that the remakes cost 20 Eurobucks each.

Cemu 1.7.4 is out. Where's the cracked version (or a version with a serial.bin)
>>
>>172797536
Meh, I live in germany and torrenting is pretty risky here. We have Lawyers doing nothing but scanning and sending fines if they catch you (and they often do), So the only option left is this one click hoster bullshit which splits games into 125 parts as 6hour downloads with 12 hour wait time in between. It's a pain.
>>
>>172797848
Jdownloader is enough to deal with file hosts, I rarely don't max out my connections using links from IGG.

It works because it's a legit version from patreon, with a serial included. It will stop working when they ban that serial server-side.
If you know what you're doing you can capture the authentication response and fake it locally to use it forever (thats what I do)
>>

it's complicated, you don't use just one program

>open patreon cemu and let it verify
>save the request/response
>start a local http server
>make it respond to the same request with the same response

What kind of retarded logic is this?
Good thing overclocking and the ability to raise the internal resolution was added earlier else it might have never been implemented with stupidity like this.
Hell with the removal of Bilinear filtering they might not be safe either.
>>
>>172827194
Mednafen is fully CPU dependant I can see why one would want to avoid putting even more shit on the CPU if there's another way, both filter look equally bad/good so it's not that important;
Should have left the option though since it was already implemented.
They removed bilinear because they changed how the texture filtering is done it'll come back.

God damn does the GBA rape its game audio

After the blunder known as Windows Vista and Windows 8 not doing too great either I'm not dumb enough to jump on the new MS bandwagon. My friends who fell for the "It's free!" shill have had nothing but issues with it. Games not working, Updates breaking their drivers, etc.

Resident Evil 2 N64 runs on GLideN64 now. Some hacks are needed because it's a fucking batty N64 game that doesn't behave like a normal N64 game for example, on a real N64, part of the framebuffer wraps around from right to left, which shouldn't happen. It's hidden by overscan.

It looks pretty good. The fix to render all 2D stuff at native resolution makes it look way better than Glide64, and high resolution mode works perfectly as far as I can tell.

SOTC will still be bugged from how the speedhack cores work. So is similar games.

There will still be games with stuttering from the default frame limiter being bad at its job

Audio sync is still bugged

As much as I wish them good luck, you can't really build a solid house if the foundation is shaky, and its very shake shake.

You're implying I changed the settings specifically for that demonstration which I didn't outside of timestretch obviously

I showed what issue I was having with timestretch
I figured out that latency being so low was causing the issue when >>172954895 was posted so I explained why I set it that way end of story.

So pretty much timestretch needs latency too high to be any good so I might as well set latency as low as possible without affecting performance and use async mix and get a A/V delay that isn't affecting my gameplay experience noticeably without having the audio crap out on me, so that's exactly what I'm doing and you're being a nitpicky faggot about details and trying to make it seem like I'm doing things when I'm not because I criticized your favorite emulator or some shit

I have the game updated to 1.1.1
CEMU is 1.7.4b

I downloaded the shadercache and dropped it into the correct folder and renamed it properly
I changed that gpufence setting in the games settings ini
I enabled the gpufence hack in the options (which doesn't seem to make a difference for me by the way)

And I'm getting 15-20fps
I'm running a 6600k and an RX 480 and 16GB of RAM. Yes I'm getting the grass issue because AMD but right now I just want to figure out performance.

My CPU, GPU, and RAM are all only at about 60% load so I don't understand why it is only running at 20fps. Any ideas? I've looked around a lot and I've done everything I can find.

Tried using NTSC shaders in Mednafen and it's WAY too dark.

I take it NTSC shader adds a bit of darkening to it right? I think mednafen already takes ntsc darkening into account. Thus it double darkens it.

Using shaders, there's really no way to properly simulate the effect of a CRT, at least not without an 8K resolution monitor.

If I had to make a suggestion, I'd say to use CRT shader with less NTSC blur and more halation. It won't look perfect, but it should help add a bit of brightness.

Proof doesn't matter.
In the eyes of Twinaphex, all closed source emulators and programs were illegal all along.

CEMU's dev was just lucky his emulator didn't come after a GPL Wii U emulator so that they claim he stole their code.
If CEMU is the first emulator, that means there's only one party left possible to steal code from... Nintendo. Which code? Go figure.
Not that it keeps some people from trying to prove CEMU stole code from Dolphin, but these are too crazy to listen to, even by these OSS tards standards.

>>
>>172985954
>NES colors are a hardware limitation.
But not NES hardware.
The NES doesn't have a defined color palette. The colors displayed are dependent on the television's NTSC decoder, which varied between make and model.

Most Sony consumer sets would put out a similar color to what's shown in those drawings, while a direct capture would show purple skies and dull brown bricks.
>>
>>172982837

Consumer is based on a real ntsc decoder, and most of the tvs of the time are within that range. It's the "most" correct of the palettes used. Yes, there's variation, but it's tends to be a range around what consumer outputs. Sometimes a little more saturated, sometimes a little less. But it tends to be red castlevania bricks, some blue super mario skies.

For the hundredth time, Sony CXA2025AS was not all that common and only existed in select Sony TVs. Most TVs didn't use that decoder IC (including broadcast monitors like Sony PVMs), so that is hardly definitive. It's not any more correct than the FCC standard decoding matrix (if anything it is LESS correct because it deviates from the NTSC standard).

The point is that MOST tvs look generally like it. I've yet to come across a screen like YUV palette or Firebrand X even though those are supposedly the "most accurate" palettes.

what is the point of this?

>>
>>173032197
Yeah its free.

Probably the Cemu hook person wanted to hide the code from Exzap and people. A good idea. I dunno what the H264 decoder is based on.

I was pondering doing the same to cemu cracks, but then cemuhook would break as it relies on memory patching the Cemu memory space, and protections like VMProtect/Denuvo have in memory CRC checks.
>>
>>173038318

I'm trying to tell you that what you are looking for doesn't exist

you want something that literally just can't exist because the only way for it to exist is if the sprites were literally just redrawn at a higher resolution
thats the only way they can stay sharp but just look better

I really don't even know what you mean by "preserves the picture quality" but what I do know is that if you don't want nearest neighbor everything else is going to be blurry to some extent
Its not like bilinear is even the most blurry you can possibly make an image its already somewhere in the middle and most CRT shaders you will find are already less blurry than it is
so basically you should just embrace blurriness or give up
I'm just trying to help you stop wasting your time

I wonder if 1.7.4d also fixes performance for AMD as a result of fixing all the fucked artifacting.
>>
>>173038783
Nah, what's actually going on is cemuhook is from the main devs and is being released through a proxy. A lot of people have been ragging on the devs saying that Cemu is a HLE hacky emulator akin to early N64 emulators. They wanted to add the decoder, but to do it like it is (just MPV tacked on, speeds up parts of games too much, and causes some texture garbage) would be used against them as proof of how hacky Cemu is. But they wanted BotW to be more playable to bring in that dosh, so they released it, as an 'unofficial third-party plugin.'

>>
>>172770601

>>173049782
what performance? there's a performance problem in the first place?
>>
>>173051147
All I know is on my 480 and 6600k I can't get over 20fps in the overworld and applying the gpufence hack doesn't make a difference, and playing at 1080 or 720p doesn't make a difference, and using a 19k shader cache doesn't make a difference. It's like there's a lock on my game or something. 20fps no matter what.
>>
>>173051470
Did you remove the fps limit in the config file?
>>
>>173051470
not really sure why you're saying this is an amd specific problem but it isn't, no one has achieved constant fullspeed in botw yet and everyone is struggling to even go above 20fps, intel amd or nvidia
also, taking into account the next update (1.7.4d that is already out for patreons), you can run it better than most people as most of them have an nvidia card and the shader cache bug taking over 20GB of ram still exist effectively tanking performance massively when using big shader caches

but when you say 20fps no matter what, do you mean a straight constant 20.00fps? Or does it fluctuate slightly but never go much higher?
If it's at a straight 20fps then you've failed at removing the internal vsync. Try the following if you haven't already:
Add
[Graphics]
disableGPUFence = true
to your game.ini
download cemuhook dll and put it in cemu folder
set gpu buffer cache accuracy to low

That usually does the job but it might not
>>
>>173049873
Source on this? I don't think the patreon crowd care about hacks.

If that protected dll is just MPV then I can see them doing something like that as a GPL license dodge. It being released as an 'unofficial third-party plugin' would mean they cant be touched themselves.

When I'm on the surface it says 20.00 with occasional dips to 18-19. But when I go into a shrine it's 30 so that's weird. I did disableGPuFence= true, but maybe I put it in the wrong place. All the inis were just random numbers for file names so I opened them all until I found one that said Breath of The Wild (USA) and added it to that one.
>>
>>173053169
The botw inis start by 00050000101c9x00, with X being either 3, 4 5 depending on game region. Put it in all 3 in case of doubt

>But when I go into a shrine it's 30 so that's weird.
That's because in the case your game fails to reach a constant 30fps, the vsync will stick to a specific number to avoid the fps fluctuating constantly. It can be 20, 15, 12 etc. You also need to add the [Graphics] above disableGPUFence in case you didn't

I read online that everyone says as soon as they check that gpufence hack in the options that cemuhook adds, they immediately gain like 10-15 FPS. For me it stays exactly the same, 20 fps with or without

DS3 is the best for emulation if you are used to Dualshock layout because its the only controller that has pressure sensitive inputs for PS2 games.
