This upcoming update seems like a very fundamental one. I'm hesitant to return to the game before it drops, since there might be some problems using an old world/fort in the new release. Or am I full of shit?
>>
>>172734516
Not much is going to change really to be honest.
>>
>>172734516
one fort isn't a big deal.

so the save becomes incompatible with the new version. who cares? just gen a new world and start up a new fort.

also, there's no way it comes out before late may, so you'll probably abandon several forts due to fps death before that.

I used to be well into Dorf Fort but these days I just can't play it. The fun part is setting up the embark party equipment (7 rat meat, 14 ales, 2 picks, an axe and a bag of seed. Maybe a dog), then I get into the game proper and I'm all like "Well, shit", and turn it off. The graphics are fine, controls are (more or less) fine, its just playing the game that gets me.

>>
>>172757837

>>
>>172757837
2GB of autism is the minimum system requirement for DF, but you'll want at least 8GB to fully utilize all it's features. If you plan to use minecarts, siege engines, or the ceramics industry you definitely won't be able to get away with the minimum. Someone here claimed to have made a fully functioning pump stack with only 2GB once, but I think was a troll.

>>172757837

>>172758676
They weren't lying, they just cut corners in other places that you couldn't normally get away with. IIRC they used a public dormitory, just plump helmets, invaders off so no military, and built the rest of the fort in the soil layer. More a stunt than anything else.

>>
From what I've seen from the vid on the new magic system, it seems like some members of races may get powers depending on bloodlines & affiliation to gods. Imagine having to deal with teleporting enemies
>>
>>172786064
That will flood need it going across a diagonal tile top down.
>>
>>172778465
>at peace with wildlife
>the croc smiles is anticipation of imminent bestiality
>>
>>172786209
The dev list for the magic features is rather long and in depth then there's the RNG to it so each world will have different gameplay from another one.
>>
>>172786290
Make the intake from the river in diagonal? Or what do you mean?
>>
>>172786901
If water moves diagonal across the same level it won't have pressure applied to it afterwards.
http://dwarffortresswiki.org/index.php/DF2014:Pressure
>>
>>172786064
Side view? It'll certainly keep your dwarves well hydrated, if that's your goal. You might have some issues with pathfinding and drowning, though.

The way water pressure works is that water tiles look through all connected water tiles for a tile that's at a lower elevation, and if there is one, the water instantly teleports there. In this case, all the water in the upper channel will spurt out the well and flood your fortress.
There's limitations to that, though. Firstly, water will only teleport to lower elevation, not equal elevation. In your case, it'd flood the level with the well, but NOT the level above it.
Secondly, it only checks orthogonal connections, not diagonal. Water still flows through diagonal holes, but it won't be pressurized.

So, that's the easy way to do a well like this. Make one of the pipes diagonal and it won't transfer pressure, and your dwarves can both drink and breathe.

The FUN way is to dig an overflow channel into the reservoir under the well. The water will flow up, but drain off the side instead of rising all the way up the well. Drain it away into the caverns. Your FPS will suffer from the constant water flow, but surely that must be worth having your own underground river? It's not.
>>
>>172784246
> magic doesn't seem like it would take as long as the next one
Das rite, he has like ~70% things coded in alredy as an inactive ingame code, side projects or other frameworks. There's a lot of adjusting/balancing/merging with the main game left to do tho, but we can already have high hopes. First stage will be fucking fun.
>>
>>172788465
>70%
Only problem would be magic land masses

>Magical landforms generalizing and/or replacing good-evil regions and the underworld
So instead of the whole good evil shit we just get magic areas (that may or not be friendly) and the underworld might be changed to one way portals get opened instead of digging into hell.
>>
>>172788831
Yes, that's the fun i was referring to. Not fancy effects but massive geometry changes throughout the game world. Damn can you imagine the possibilities, so cool.

My military dwarves aren't properly equipping themselves with the uniform I gave them. My stocks (which are at highest precision according to the bookkeeper settings) indicate there's enough. Nothing is forbidden.

Should I just go in and custom set all the stuff? I'd rather not do that for 40-something dwarves.
>>
>>172808074
Did you set it on replace?
>>
>>172808418
don't know

where is that option?
>>
What matters more to you when selecting military: "relevant skills" or personal attributes (strength, toughness, quick to tire or not, willpower, etc.)
>>
>>172811987
For short term I go with relevant skills, for long term I go with attributes.
>Frontline squad all skill
>Forever training squad in reserves / last line of defense soldier-wise
I still use traps for the first line. Try to avoid risking dwarven lives.
>>
>>172810976
It's say wear over clothing if it's not set to replace.
>>
>>172812860
will setting it to replace solve my problem?

if so, what kind of clothing needs to be "replaced" and what can be worn "over clothing"

or is it just up to the whims of armok
>>
>Get a legendary +2 stone detailer in my second migrant wave
>My dorfs are beyond pleased

How do i get my visitors to leave? I have over a hundred- fifty of them and they won't leave, it's slowing my fort down
>>
>>172815369
Wanton violence or the application of magma.
>>
>>172815678
Won't that cause wars? I've not yet gotten to magma, as it's a relatively new fort, and a lot of the visitors are soldiers and the like, I don't want all my dwarves military to die to a clusterfuck of visitors
>>
>>172815840
Just use magma and limit the amount of vistor's in d_init
>>
>>172815840
It won't cause wars. Fort trained dwarves are almost always better trained and equipped than worldgen soldiers, so you don't have much to worry about on that front either. Unless you're bad.
Anyway, it's the only way to get rid of visitors if they don't choose to leave on their own.

They can. If you embark with an otherwise impassable mountain range between you and the rest of the world your own civ will still send wagons. If you use dfhack to embark entirely on a mountain they'll still come. They're seaworthy too, they can even reach on a remote island. The only thing you need for your own civ's wagons to reach you are 3 contiguous tiles of land on the same z-level anywhere on the surface and a path therefrom to your trade depot.

Do you have smoothing selected? If you're trying to chop trees or something, it obviously won't work.
Are the tiles reachable? Dwarves don't actually have to be able to path to the tiles to set the designation, but for walls, there needs to be room to stand next to it. Walls above bottomless voids can't be designated for smoothing until you build some scaffolding.
Do you have "designate all" selected? I don't think it should be possible for smoothing, but digging designations can fail if you forgot the selector on "mine ore/gems" or something.
Are these NATURAL rock walls you're trying to smooth? Constructed walls start out smooth, and can't be engraved.
Are these natural ROCK walls you're trying to smooth? Peat can't be smoothed.

Yeah, the fuck had 40 hammerdwarves, all of whom had 4 or 5 fighter and at least competency with armor, shields and hammers wailing on him almost simultaneously, and he just dragged his ass 50 tiles across the surface leaving a gigantic trail of severed dwarf parts before finally dying after four pages of combat reports.

But the guy who got his arm fat bruised is the one who turned and went on a fucking rampage inside my fort.

I had like eight survivors, said "fuck it" and made them attack the elf caravan that showed up after. Now I wait.

For some people, it's a legitimate achievement to have gotten enough exposure for their game to get it on a legitimate online marketplace. Steam has entry requirements, not necessarily in game quality, but in pre-existing hype. Having your game on Steam means you're a real indie dev.

That makes zero sense in the case of Dwarf Fortress, of course. Not only is it almost unmarketable, it already has all the exposure it needs. Basically the whole internet has heard of it. Most people aren't interested in actually playing it, but the ones that are can probably learn about it without seeing it in their Steam recommendations.

Also, Steam is widely regarded as a normie thing, so you can probably bait a response out of /dfg/ by mentioning it.

When starting out don't worry about aesthetics. I'm also not one for aesthetics anyway. My forts all have the same concept of one central stairwell with four hallways branching off from it on any floor that I feel like mining. I keep workshops separated by material, all wood related shops are in a room that is stocked with wood and all stone with stone, etc. Somewhere in the fort I will have a large main warehouse which I will re-purpose later in the fort's life. Later on I will specialize whole floors but, this is an early fort at only 20 residents and 6 of them are children. As for housing, I still can't break away from commie blocks and I usually build them in 2x3 "pods".

also, one thing that really pisses me off. why don't guests assist in fighting? surely after a certain point the guests should either try to flee / join the fight, but instead they simply don't engage with the goblins and the goblins don't engage with them. That seems kind of silly - I can't imagine the goblins coming to genocide the fortress and then leaving the taverns alone simply because they aren't technically part of the fortress population, and similarly I can't imagine humans / dwarves / elves just sitting in the tavern while the fortress is slaughtered all around them.

Incidentally, 20 dwarfs killing zombies now is a lot different from 20 dwarfs killing 40.24 era zombies, which is when this fort was started, and I played it off and on up through the 42.05 zombie nerf.

I tested once to see what happened if I pulled the Zombocalypse lever to free the zombies, in 40.24 everyone died, without exceeption, in 43.01 or so last time I tried there were several survivors without even setting up or training a militia.

These fuckers are invincible. I've thrown these brave 19 dwarves against around 4 seiges now, and just had them take down an undead horde of about 70 without a single one of them taking a hit.

Using mayday that came with LNP- why do my wood doors look like this?
>>

because wood doors are hard coded to use the vertical wall tile, and to make all colored parts black and all transparent parts the colour of the door.

only workaround is TWBT.

Who hooks up is something you have so little control over that unless you plan on making that your fort's only project you're not doing either. In any case, that's probably just your civ's normal dwarf "race", and most of your migrants will be red haired and green eyed too. Anyway, those and body size are the only traits known to be heritable anyway, so there isn't even very much on the eugenics front for you do unless you just want tall skinny dwarves or whatever.

The conventional wisdom is that worldgen goes for an even split of the 5 civilizing entities when placing civs. At 24 civs getting 4 and 5 goblin civs falls within that range. All you've shown is that worldgen probably won't use the same demon type for more than civ. You haven't shown that the number of demons influences how many goblin civs there will be, unless that number is less than 1/5th of the total number of civs.
If you want to prove your claim either reduce to total number of civs so that goblin civs can spawn at a greater rate than the others or remove the civ limit so that more than 5 can spawn.

Same situation, 24 civs, 15 goblin civ cap, 1 demon type: after multiple restarts I don't get any goblin civs placed.

Checked a few more times.

2 types: 1~2 dark forts in dozens of restarts
5 types: 2~3 dark forts in dozens of restarts
24 types: 4~5 dark forts in dozens of restarts
>>
>>172997862
So yeah, this isn't a matter of doubting what I'm saying anymore, there's a clear and easily seen relationship between the number of demon types and dark fortresses: >>172998624

This is influenced at the high end by total number of civs, entity settings, site caps, but the range below that is determined by demon types.

Hows this layout look?

I wanted everything on one floor to make it easier to manage. Fortress is essentially self-reliant and I'm using gem cutting as my economy since they seem to trade for high value.

Still to fully delve into military as well. I do have metalworking underway though, currently crafting everything my military needs out of copper.

Melt it all down and make crafts and traps out of it instead. Shit's basically worthless for weapons and armor and will just fuck your military up when you upgrade.

Remove [USE_EVIL_ANIMALS] from goblin entity, or remove [EVIL] from beak dogs, or [SLOW_LEARNER] from trolls, or any combination thereof.
>>
>>173001715
m > s > e

Set them to train every month. 6 or 7/10 of them need to be training. If you leave it at the default of 10/10 your inexperienced soldiers will get upset.

To have them train you need to assign them to a barracks/armory. Place an armor stand or weapon rack, q over it and assign the whole room. You can throw beds in it too and hit z to have them sleep there if you change a setting back in that first menu. From this point onwards they'll spend every month you scheduled them to train doing combat drills, practicing alone and leading/watching demonstrations by dwarves with skill in a subject. Their stats like strength and agility and observer will raise over time as well. Now just leave them alone, assign them equipment when you get something better than copper and they'll go grab it and wear it over their civilian clothes by default.

weapons > chest protection > helmets > leg protection > gauntlets > shields > boots

Axes are your safest general bet. Marksdwarves are great but they're a comparative pain in the ass to set up and maintain.

If you can, mass-produce leather cloaks, hoods and trousers. Not only do they fulfill every dwarf's clothing needs besides shoes, which can't be worn with boots, they also can get tossed over your metal armor if you properly set up the order they're supposed to equip things in.

And make the call on who'll lead the group. It should preferably be someone with good Teacher skill and some relevant combat skill on top of it. A good teacher skill can significantly speed up the rate other dwarves learn from them.
>>
>>172999727
You're misrepresenting that relationship, though. Worldgen attempts to place 1/(total number of entities)*(number of civs) goblin civs, just like every other entity. The only time increasing the number of demon types gets you more goblin civs is if you've already decreased it from the default amout, i.e. (demon types)<1/(total number of entities)*(number of civs). It's the same mechanic that's used to place other entities' civs, you're just pointing at a way to limit it.

Dry forts are basically the only way to squeeze a bit of challenge out of the game as it is now, and it's the only time you'll ever even see an unhappy dwarf (though you'll still never see an unhappy dwarf go on a tantrum, since it takes so much stress to go from "stressed" to "tantrum" that you'll probably not manage it even if you try to do it").

I wonder how all thse "mythical cities" will be handled in the game.

Will they get their own unique look?

Will the buildings there have sphere-based architecture, like the temples currently do?

Will they be guarded by angels, or by the RNG'd "ancient races"? Will you be able to mingle in them, or will it just be ultra hard "vault raiding 2.0"?

Also, I assume that the ruined mythical cities will be like prehistoric ruins? Will the implementation of these anticipate the archaeologist player role?

The best way is to offer them wood and violate tree cutting agreements. The latter is the most effective way. Even that will usually take years to degrade your civ's relationship with them unless your civ was already on shaky ground with them.

The least autistic is to not give them rooms at all and just put clusters of beds wherever you have free space. They're pathable so you can just jam them in hallways between your stockpiles if you want. Nothing bothers dwarves very much anymore, so you won't even notice any effect on their moods.

>nothing bothers dwarves very much anymore

i've noticed. i don't like it. there's no in game incentive to push for comfy fortresses anymore. I get that dwarf is a game of self-imposed handicaps and projects (all you really need for an immortal fortress is a kitchen, a still, farm plots with plump helmets, tree farms, and a well, then just wall everything else off and let migrants go to hell) but i liked how at least nobles demanded that you create SOME wealth, made you pay SOME attention to what dwarves do and don't like, etc etc

needs gave fortress mode a similar sense of purpose

hopefully toady's planning on rebalancing the stress system once this whole raid stuff gets implemented so it's a little more engaging to satisfy dwarves

Well, nobles do still make mandates and demands, and dwarves do still get negative thoughts from certain things even when they're drunk, but the dwarf happiness minigame has gotten a lot easier with the stress system. I mean, you could always negate the majority of bad shit that happened with a legendary dining room and engraved bedrooms, but now you don't even need that.

What is the point of farm plots?
Plenty vegetation grows on the surface, and when caverns are exposed, the entire fortress floods with even more.
>>
>>173058540
>nobles still make mandates and demands
yeah but they barely care anymore, the consequences for ignoring them are borderline negligible (aside from say the manager needing an office depriving you of a whole interface)

and like i said to make a legendary dining room and some engraved bedrooms is at least SOMETHING. at this point it's probably a viable strategy to attempt to lead a completely bland fortress where all the dwarves are uninspired clods and no wealth is generated ever to avoid attracting gobbie or beast attention, whereas before you at least had to generate enough wealth to prevent tantrums such that the wealth also attracted trouble, which gave the game its forward momentum

although i may be remembering this with rose tinted glasses

actually that's probably a pretty good suggestion for toady: in order to keep your dwarves happy, you must also attract attention to yourself via wealth creation. it should be almost a zero sum game.

minimum wealth created to prevent tantrums= minimum wealth created to attract trouble
>>
>>173058630
I never engrave a new fortress. I always wait until I've built an elite cadre of legendary stone detailers, and even then I only engrave aesthetically appropriate portions of the fort. Having low quality engravings of cucumbers and sparrowmen and hives all over the place seems tacky to me.
>>
>>173059395
more consistent, easier to protect, can be incorporated into fortress hauling routes more easily

and of course its possible your fortress grows too large for the local vegetation to support

but yes early game ever since plant picking became a viable occupation for dwarves, farming is less useful

still useful if you're in a more barren climate tho, which is an interesting comment on natural resource's effect on civilization development

Mandate violation still results in justice action. Jail/beating/execution.
Anyway, I've seen some convincing arguments here that wealth creation has no effect (and never has) on whether or not you're attacked, or by what size of a force so long as you've met the minimum requirement to trigger the attacker in question. I can't find any research to refute that, and I see people here posting about their huge attacks against hole-in-the-dirt forts all the time. And it's not as though those sorts of attacks have ever been a real threat anyway. Werebeasts, undead and demons don't give a shit about your wealth or pop, and those are more serious threats than nearly anything with a triggering condition.
>>
>>173060891
>jail/beating/execution
i realize this is going to sound callous and edgy, but again, that isn't terribly affecting to a fort anymore. Getting beaten / grieving at death barely affects dwarves because they're so easily satisfied, AND most dwarves barely care about each other at all. A "wrongful" execution imo should borderline lead to rioting in the streets (aka tantrum spiral)

most fortresses only have populations of about ~200-300 dwarves (if that). using this, i think it's fair to use a narrative model like say winesburg ohio (i.e., stories about small town justice) where any significant criminal incident would be the talk of the town for weeks and probably have significant effects on everybody's thoughts for the next 10 years or so

that's not at all how it is now, most dwarves barely interact with each other / don't form social connections without socializing with the formal Socialize task, which, if you're running your fortress well, occurs relatively rarely. i think (and i don't know the underlying mechanics behind this, but try to bear with me i promise im not shitposting) if a dwarf gets 100 social exp points from the formal Socialize task, and that's how dwarves make friends, he SHOULD be getting 1 social exp point every time he passes by a dwarf (that includes putting a point into these two dwarves' relationship) in order to make fortresses more personally connected, leading to more sensible reactions to the deaths of their fellow citizens. (actually, does a dwarf's relationship with the recently dead citizen even affect how significantly it stresses them?)

this all might threaten to end up leading to fps death even earlier though

anyways this is all getting a little too long and i think i might go write up my formal thoughts on this somewhere else and do a little research into how socializing works now before i go about making a complete criticism of it

>>173062247
I don't disagree with your criticisms, so far as they go, just pointing at the mechanics as they exist. I would even add to your suggestions that dwarves who work together should be developing social links as well. I have dwarves who've trained together in the same squad for nearly two decades, fought beside one another, bled together, and even treated one anothers' wounds who aren't even passing acquaintances. Similarly, teams of miners and stone detailers who've excavated and smoothed tens of thousands of stones worth of projects and haven't bothered to learn each others' names. The social aspects of dwarves' lives are relatively opaque compared to many other mechanics, but when you scrutinize them it boggles the mind.
>>
>>173062757
not for any well established fort though. a temporary reduction in exports / wealth production is typically remedied with ease by labor assignments (you might not be getting masterpieces for a few years, but you'll probably be okay). unless your nobles' mandates are causing death camps it's just so much tedium.

anyway, my point is the game's too damn easy for how complicated it is. i realize balance is one of toady's lesser concerns - df is a story generator above all - but cmon

>A bronze weapon and a cast iron weapon have about the same utility in terms of strength and holding an edge.

>However, you can make cast iron weapons from one substance - iron. To make bronze, you need copper and tin. These two metals are rarely found in the same place, which means you either have to control territory with sources for both, or you have to trade for them. If you have to trade for them you may find that you can't make war at will or you'll be cut off from your suppliers. This need to trade stabilized the ancient world and made total domination of one culture by another fairly uncommon. It implies a huge weakness though - if you can sever an army's source of either copper or tin, you can cripple it.

>Iron work can be evolved to steel work. Steel is a superior metal, but figuring out how to make steel is really hard when you don't have modern chemistry or microscopes. It's a process of trial and error and it's mostly error. Steel was not a major factor in armaments until after the Roman period.

>The very ancient world was a bronze economy. Trade was critically important. This is one reason the ancient Greeks became so successful; they lived by the sea, mastered sailing early, and expanded their influence anywhere they could sail a boat and find a harbor. All the great civilizations of the ancient world were bronze based - China, India, Mesopotamia, Egypt, Greece, Minoan, etc.

>When people figured out how to make cast iron (which requires higher temperatures to get the ore out of the rock and to work the metal effectively) there was a huge upheaval. New conquering peoples arose and kicked the asses of the bronze-age civilizations. Greek culture was battered so badly it lost literacy. But this upheaval was based on economics, not superior metallurgy - iron armies are easier to supply as long as you control a source of iron ore. Bronze armies have supply lines that can be cut.

I think the game makes a distinction between refuse and corpses. It's pretty loosey goosey though, sometimes corpses will go in a refuse pile and sometimes refuse will go in a corpse pile. There's also body parts as a classification of item, along with remains.

Also, typically once someone has a task at hand, they finish it before they do something else. I think only alerts will force your dwarves to immediately drop everything and leg it to the burrows.

Most of the time, when people talk about "good code", they are speaking hypothetically. Outside a few speciality fields, it's just not economically viable. Any team of two-bit engineers or do-it-for-free hobbyists can churn out code that's just barely good enough, but actually ensuring that the program is free of errors requires a genius talent who's emotionally invested in the work. If you weren't a legendary programmer before you wrote the good code, you will be afterwards.

Basically like strange moods.

The only places where you might actually find good code - the places where the potential property damage caused by a glitch is greater than the cost of eliminating all of them - would be stuff like spacecraft guidance computers and nuclear power plant monitoring equipment.

turkeys are bloody overkill at this point. Unless you're doing some evil glacier challenge or something they're going to do nothing but flood your food stockpiles and clog up your FPS when they end up with a million goslings constantly fighting each other in their pens.

Just a few mods nothing that really adds any new creatures. Tried Mostly Mythical Monsters Modular Mod but the syndrome in that are broken gameplay wise. Gorgons seemed cool but dwarfs become statues for a year.

Would like a mod that added flavor to the caverns.

People just avoid masterwork because of all the bullshit bloat.

FPS death will never ever not be a thing. As long as worlds slowly become more cluttered and use up more memory over time, then it will always be the case that the memory usage will overcome the processing capacity of your computer. Multithreading isn't a fantastical golden goose that will magic that problem away, it'll only stave it off. The only hope is that computers will eventually progress to a point where DF will never be able to bring them to their knees.
>>
>>173107597
Fair enough. You are right, but it should not be as big an issue as it currently is..
>>
>>173107104
It'll be even better once we can finally lift and drag NPCs.
>>
>>173107150
It's a hugely negative thought that stacks and takes more work to balance out than just making more booze.

You can either smooth and engrave your entire fort, and give everyone amazing bedrooms, or you can take ten minutes to set up a constant alcohol-producing order and not have to.
>>
>>173107704
>it should not be as big an issue as it currently is
Maybe if we were talking about a game with an actual dev team, that charged you to play it maybe. But what we're actually talking about is the passion project of one guy and his bumbling brother, who let you play it completely for free. They owe you nothing.
>>
>>173107776
I will never stop lifting, dragging, and throwing. I will beat elves with other elves. Having a live weapon also helps ward boogeymen away.
>>
>>173108015
Not even the anon you are talking to, and while I get what you are saying, the fact of the matter is eventually he is going to have to improve the games performance. FPS death is only going to get worse and worse the more he adds to the game.
>>
>>173109186
That's true. I just meant that multithreading itself isn't a quick fix. Hell I didn't even go into the fact that he'd have to re-code the game from scratch to achieve multithreading, or that he doesn't exactly have a whole lot of experience optimizing multithreaded code.

What's the fastest way to get rid of all the stone lying around the floor (for beginner player)? Some DFHack commands maybe? I want to focus on other things for now and can't properly place stockpiles since there's little soil and everything leaves some of that garbage.
>>
>>173130305
And yes, I've read the wiki, the methods listed there are quite time consuming.
>>
>>173130384
There's a dfhack command IIRC, but I never use it so I can't help you with that. I'm sure you find it with google. There's also the dfhack documentation. Personally, I have one or several temporary mason's workshop(s) very close to the stone I want to remove and have him churn out blocks or whatever 24/7. Output stockpile right next to it and enough fuckers that do nothing but haul.
>>
>>173130587
Oh and the output stockpile obviously should accept bins and you should have enough of them.
>>
>>173130587
>>173130662

I see. I'll give it a try, I'll get shitloads of bins and make him do some craft and blocks then. Thanks, anon.
>>
>>173130720
It's really more of a mid-game strategy, when you have enough workforce to spare. But after your first or second migrant wave, that is definitely the case.
Be dynamic with your setup (putting up a workshop doesn't take the dwarves long, and switching jobs/creating stockpiles is instantaneous) and read about stockpiles, hauling, and so on. Identify bottlenecks and find ways to improve it.
>>
>>173130305
don't.

having the stone lie around is useful in case you need to seal some passage quickly.

instead, you mass hide them from the stockpile screen. that way you won't have to look at them. you need a full time bookkeeper for this, by the way.
