We know there’s been questions swirling around the upcoming DLC:The Crimson Court, and today we wanted to give you all a little insight into the carnivorous chaos that will come to the Estate.

Crimson Court is a parallel campaign experienced alongside the main Darkest Dungeon content that will provide you with new challenges at every difficulty level. The narrative grounding sheds some light on the Ancestor’s early days, and will be presented in the same style of cutscenes you’ve seen elsewhere in the game.

As the Crimson Curse spreads unrelentingly over the estate, parties will battle new enemies in familiar regions, as well as setting foot in a completely new sprawling environment: the Courtyard. There, amidst unique curios, traps and obstacles, a complete faction of new blood-crazed foes lie in wait, overseen by three distinct boss encounters. These slavering enemies and epic encounters will introduce new combat mechanics, testing the limits of your favourite strategies.

PD is also platonic friends with Leper and non-platonic friends with Highwayman. You get trapezohedrons for killing the nest. I recommended running a dodge team regardless. I ran GR/Occultist/MaA/Hellion with dodge trinkets. MaA bolsters, or guards someone on/near DD. Hellion/GR knock down the nest, as does Occ if he's not healing.

I've also done a shrieker run where I was really underleveled but wanted the trinket (+4 speed tailfeather) so I spammed dodge pretty exclusively with success.

If you kill the shrieker, can another one show up or is it like Vvulf? What if it runs away?

I can't imagine it's a normal disease otherwise it would be too easy to cure and wouldn't have a very good trade off with the other diseases. I imagine it's something that you might have a chance to get from certain moves or after missions to The Courtyard. Or maybe it just spreads through the Hamlet as the game progresses regardless of what you can do, either passively or through new Town Events. I just hope it has a net positive effect since it causes the Fanatic to chase after the party.

I mean I'm pretty much always just above breaking even after a quest and I only bye minimum supplies (standard rations and torches, 1-2 shovels and usually a single key). And I never have enough excess cash to justify buying anything from the Nomad Wagon. And I'm thorough in my exploration too. At the very least the stack size increase'd be nice since it'd make long missions less worthless.

Even if the chances aren't directly affected by the region, the odds could still be skewed by the frequency of the other curios in the area, so it's possible that some areas might be better for Shoggoth hunting. Though I don't know the actual numbers, since even though I can count the area-specific curios and whether they appear in corridors, I still can't be sure if they each have different odds of appearing.

Not sure how will it work but The Hag and The Crew and The Necromancer (maybe The Prophet, too) will have a close fight for the last rank.

Strangely, I think The Pounder can win The Shambler, since the first round, Shambler alone can not kill The Matchman and new summoned Tentacle did not have a chance to attack.

take m@a, 100%. houndmaster is too good in this fight to make him waste every single turn with guarding. also, i'd rather use occultist in place of vestal, because he can mark stuff for the HM and arbalest. and if his heals ever fail you, you still have arbalest's heal and HM's self heal. also, be sure to take HM's stress heal, there are many opportunities to stall in this dungeon, and leaving every fight on full hp and 0 stress makes DD2, debatably the hardest dungeon in the game, a cakewalk. after the fight's done, just switch him to pos 3 and spam that cry havoc. good luck anon

I'm amazed how well this team did in the third Darkest Dungeon. I was worried about the rather weak healing, but these guys easily disposed of the Cysts. The strategy was to double stun from PD, Abom attacks the Cyst, and the other two would kill the White Cell Stalk or if it was already dead focus down the Cyst. Since the Cyst takes two turns he just kept getting out of stun for his first then summoning another Stalk for his second and by then his stun resist would wear off and Plague Doctor would stun again.
That double stun is just so strong it's crazy, thank you best girl Plague Doctor

Their goal was always for it to just be a mechanical swap of the Arbalest so that it would be less of a bummer to the players who didn't have the chance to get it, so I doubt they'd change that now. I've never actually seen one in person and I'm not a big history buff so from what I gathered on the wikipedia page they didn't seem to be particularly significant in that regard. From what I remember, it was supposed to be an affinity system that gave benefits to party members who adventure together all the time, with bigger punishments to heroes who go with them if the person/people they have high affinity with die.
