There are metrics to gauge if a card has potential to become more useful.

Though basically it's just asking if there's currently cards just more useful than it or is it unique.

Several legendaries got this treatment already with enhance golds including Erasmus. Secrets of Erasmus gives you a standard removal card with the option to just play Erasmus and is far less of a dead card. Pluto is also a safe vial due to the existence of Pact.

Another example is Skullfane who is now pretty much a 100% safe vial due to Eidolon obsoleting him.

Fairy Princess however doesn't have any direct replacements. While Forest has a lot of fairy gen, she still does it best and also has the benefit of filling your hand 100%. Forest played well though doesn't need so much fairies and prefers mana-cheated fairies over plain ones. Fairy Princess could potentially become far better if more cards making use of fairies like Rose Queen are implemented, but who knows what expansion that will be.

Atomy is one of the most unique cards in the game. He's basically an 8/8 that can be mana cheated with the downside of costing your board. As more ways to mitigate that downside came about, he became better and better. Bone Chimera and Voices of Resentment gave him a slight nudge. Elta, Mammoth, and Catacomb made him riskless to play.

Basically, just look at a card and judge how unique or powerful its use is and what prevents it from being played now. Fafnir and Zirnitra are cards that were outright powercreeped due to having plain uses and are pretty much safe vials at this point. Cards like Minthe and Anomaly however are just begging for combo potential down the line if proper support is given.

From here it depends If you reliably went 3 wins 2 losses in arena, you'll want to turn your gold into arena tickets to get +50-100% more of your value Keep updating a deck for each leader as you unpack cards and do every daily Turn that gold into more tickets Log in daily for the login reward You should be getting 10-20 packs a weeks Buy some DE and a few Baha packs at some point If you want, save up some gold for the Bahamut ticket arena reward event at some point to rake in and clear out the cards you need from that set If you can't reliably 3-2, do NOT buy tickets You'll just piss away your dosh and time. It's fine. You'll always be able to make a tier 1/2 deck first week due to ~50k vials of free packs at start and the early game shit. And you'll always generate enough rupees and vials every 3 months to make a meta deck from the next expansion. If you want to go wide, you're going to need to master and grind ~10 4-1/5-0 arena runs a day each day on top of dailies to smooth over your tilts.

Grind arena. It's slow at first but you'll fill up your standard pack card library getting many viable cards in the process. Then it's just gushing vials to craft whatever you want.

I've tried a bunch of options. I don't even run Selwyns, Elf Queens, Aerins, Jungle Wardens, or Lilys.

Don't bother with Dragon, you wouldn't be able to craft it if you dust every single card there. Shadow is also off the table without a Cerb. Blood is too memey and unstable, don't fall for the memes and wait for results. 6 legendaries is too steep a cost for a deck that turn out shit. I recommend Haven, really. It's always been the cheapest control deck requireing only 1 legendary, in this case Aegis. You only need 2 copies, the rest are the core Haven cards from standard and DE.
