That certainly happens, but if you need another class for literally any other reason you can switch to it. This is actually really smart on Bungie's part. Players were naturally gonna be upset none of their gear will carry over, so they made an actual in universe reason for it. This way Bungie can channel the anger away from themselves and towards the Cabal. Not only does D2's premise serve as damage control, but it creates emotional investment for players.

Also, the "Cabal sack Last City" plot serves to create an excellent excuse to remodel The Tower. Wouldn't want to be visiting the same tiny plaza for 10 years now would we?

Well, there is one Titan subclass that creates a bubble shield for the group, but that's really the only "tank" ability they have.
One Hunter subclass has a tether and invisibility grenades which are good for group support.
Those are the only classes that are similar to a traditional rpg.
I'm hoping they make the classes more unique in D2. Maybe a healer subclass for warlocks.

I get that the news is fresh and people are excited to play on PC, but it would be a real shame if this general devolved into a PC master race vs console war. Please do not turn into constant gameplay tests showing fps and talk of how much more competitive pvp is on pc. I feel that this general would really lose what has made it so successful. There's one theory that the Cabal are actually in exile fleeing the Darkness/Hive, and I think it does have support in the Grimoire. But that wouldn't make sense considering they're supposed to be "allies of the Darkness" like the other enemy factions, though they seem at least to me to be the most disconnected from the Darkness of any of the factions. Even the fucking Awoken appear to make more use of it than they do.

Honestly I just wanted to reveal you guys but I gotta say congratulations on being second in the entire world

alright time to break down WHY the cayde in the trailer was terrible, hint: its the writing inconsistency
Cayde's defining traits, as observed through grimoire, cutscenes, and ilde and mission chatter, is that of competence, devious, and good natured, often throwing out witty or uncommitted and often unrelated dialogue ("take me with you," "somebody took my sparrow"). he often lets other people perform the work in his stead and often has things done "off the record" if it can be completed to his liking in the event of Vanguard disputes.
This trailer portrays him as incompetent to lead, which is not a defining trait of the Vanguard position, willing to threaten others if they displease him, when normally he would likely find another solution, and otherwise dull in the head. he does have dialogue in the trailer that underlay his nature, which is actually written fairly well considering (opening (minus the dirty misfits), everything is gone, and "worst case scenario), but it is overshadowed by the rest of the horrid speech (Gary, If i dont see you out there, there will be loot). This also comes several days after the teaser trailer which portrays Cayde as he is meant to be seen when he recounts his stories: mood is set, getting into the story, taking advantage of a serious situation to inject a little personality. Also, Fillion's acting wasnt very good in the trailer either, though that can be put on poor writing and directing as it sounds like he was getting into the mood of the role.
I am a bit miffed that this trailer wasnt up to snuff and managed to get created as it is. I take a fair amount of interest in character writing and development so this shit irritates me a fair amount.
