It could go both ways. Compared to any handheld system that Nintendo has produced in the past, switch is nowhere near as portable. But their philosophy (stated a bit before Iwata died iirc) was that they wanted to condense their products into one line.

I don't want to buy two nintendo consoles just to play games, but I won't deny that your typical 10 year old can't fit a switch into his pocket to take with him at all times. He needs a backpack, and he needs a charger too, and that's not trivial.

It has the potential. If their customers and 3rd party devs see Switch as a viable handheld device, then it might become the successor to the 3DS.

I thought Fast Racing RMX was going to be the game I played as a secondary to Zelda but Neo Turf Masters really is as good an arcade golf game as it is made out to be and I'm a bit hooked on that now. I got Dad playing on two-player mode via table-top and it was pretty sick.

Tempted to pick up some of the other NeoGeo ports as it's been over a decade since I played through the Metal Slugs on Xbox HUEG w/ FBA but we'll see.

My speakers are making static sounds when playing high pitched sounds when the volume is turned all the way up.

Most notably the high pitched jingle when opening up the map in BOTW.

I don't know how fast Switch wireless connectivity is between Switch's, but I can see this being a problem

The BotW 1.1.1 update really improves performance a ton, it's a shame it wasn't like this on release. It doesn't remove all the drops, but it's way better than it was.

hundreds of MB isn't a lot of data for wireless local area connections, especially in a time when 30 second loading screens are very common on consoles.

Loading a track in MK8 (I had digital) takes so long that the data could be loaded concurrently with no difference over download play. Although, I do have to assume that Switch cart loading is at least marginally faster than the download version or a Wii U disc.

when the switch goes into the dock, it detects that its docked and goes into overclock mode, boosting the power.

This also means higher heat, so the dock is necessary for the built in fans that it has.

Even when I turn off my switch and then put it into the dock to charge it will randomly flip my tv over to the hdmi channel the switch is on. And I don't just mean when I initially put it in the dock, I mean I will put it in the dock, switch to a hdmi connection the Switch isn't on then then randomly hours later it will go back to the Switch and sometimes repeatedly change to it when I try to change it back.

How the fuck do I stop this?
Seems like putting the switch in the dock turns it on and puts it in sleep mode instead of just charging while off.

The Switch only goes in OC mode (and not-underclocked) because the battery would die ridiculously fast if it was at that clock speed

I don't think the dock was designed for portability at all, even though it is unnecessariyl large. I think Nintendo just expect if you were to go to your friends house with your Switch, they would already have a dock or something, or just play in tabletop mode.

Emulated versions of the arcade versions, high-score modes (how high can you score on a single credit and how high can your score in five minutes) and a decent amount of options for the emulation (screen size, scanline filters, control remapping etc.)
Better than Nintendo's Virtual Console, worse than the Sega 3D Classics.
I'd say they're worth it if your interested in the games, especially if you know you'll have someone to play local multiplater/co-op with.

Metal Slug 3 appears to have more framerate issues than the original release so that's something you definitely need to be aware of.
Metal Slug might also have that as well but I haven't bought that one yet.
It's especially noticable in the first boss fight and any time there's lots of explosions on screen.

See, I thought it might be "arcade accurate" but I did some comparisons with footage of the game running on the arcade hardware but I'm noticing slowdown in the Switch that isn't there on the arcade version.
