It is a seal, though, because the equipment specifically refers to it as "a seal of fire".

Note that adding fire to it doesn't necessarily make it any weaker though. They sure seem to rely on the fire for their most powerful attacks. For all we know it's a seal preventing the weapons from spreading their Abyss taint, and not on their effectiveness.

It's not so much that he wastes it, as that he won't summon archers if you're close enough. He will inevitably summon them before you get to him, and they're delayed enough, and last long enough, that they will appear and shoot at you while you're close, but if you STAY close, once they go away, he won't summon archers again for the next wave, and will rely on close combat summons/physical blows, which are easily dealt with.

a general tip for Midir: when he does stand up fire don't run to the tail, just runaway so when he lands you get some some blows on the head. Same with most of his attack- it's better to be in front of him so you're not fighting the camera.

It's clear that the shell maintains Filianor's simultaneous existence in both places, but she has to remain asleep or else the spell breaks. The Pygmies inside know who Filianor is, and come running to her, calling her name, for help, when Gael appears, not realizing she is dead either. Her slumber, and the shell, distort how much time has actually passed, so when it crumbles, the truth comes out to everyone that everything has already wasted away.

I'd assume Gael got there however Shira got there, since she leaves the Ringed City too. It's not like the egg is a portal that sucks you in. Cracking it imposes the released world over the one you were just in, and throws everyone into it. Knigger probably already knew where to be, while you were spacing out.

Actually, someone should get footage for what happens when the Pygmy king successfully reach Filianore and see what happens. I don't think it actually releases the world but since you can go back to the church and she's just gone. Shira invades you across time but somehow can do it as a non-phantom, probably with a black eye orb or something. Gael's abit tricky, I'm inclined to believe that he took the long way to find them since there's 0 trace of his presence, unless you count the random red fabric in the shared graves.

It's a great fight to replay, really; it's not impossible, and you should get him to his awesome third stage most times.

It took me like 15 (going by Ember counts).

He was harder than NG+ Orphan for me, and it was only NG with Gael. I had pretty shit stamina, though, so I'd run out of roll juice quickly if I wanted to speed it up with getting more hits in.
