Honestly though, I didn't make it to 4U G yet, but everything else I played of that was extremely easy. I'm still using base defence Tetsu S and beat 10* Caravan Crimson Fatalis w/ melee with no carts which says a lot about the difficulty.

Can I get some help comparing IGs? This situation comes up very often where there are two IGs and one has slightly lower raw but higher element compared to a higher raw and lower element glaive.

Assuming I can get both glaives to 100% crit + crit boost, which glaive would be better? Also keep in mind that since the lower raw weapon has affinity, it can replace what would be CE on one set for another skill, like elemental crit or element atk +1. I'll post the links and give an example if that wasn't clear

You would pick the demonlord correct? Even though the raw is lower by 20, it has a higher sharpness (I would consider it blue since the white is a barely a sliver) than the mauler. That allows the gap to be bridged, in addition to the demonlord having the higher element, for whatever its worth

so they're fairly equal in the raw damage department. so it comes down to element, halberd's 38 vs teuza's 24. so halberd is stronger.

When X was released I believe people played it and then after Gen was produced people transferred from X to Gen, in the same way that people are going from Gen to X to XX now. If Gen 2 comes out then the reverse will probably be possible, although there may be a few items that may get messed up, like DLC.

I don't think you can compare weapons like that; you have to consider the whole set. In the first post both sets were having 100% affinity, so the one with higher raw wins the raw battle assuming they have the same sharpness. And like >>172393852 said, the white is so small that you can assume they are both blue. The only way to say that the halberd is better is to say that the element bonus (either through ele crit or ele atk +1) outweighs the 30 raw. I've played DBs a lot so I like to make sets for the various elements but I was unsure how much ele was worth on IG

and

it took a while, but I hope this sums it up. i'm using your set numbers along with the triple up bonus, and a red extract idle X attack vs. chameleos' back leg. i'm not sure how MH handles rounding, so inevitably, there's something wrong with this. IG does many hits, so that has to be taken into account. teuza is better if you want a slot, i guess.

Until the Zenith update was released, aerial tonfas did a retarded amount of damage with the proper set of skills, combined with the usually lower stagger limits and higher hitzones that monster backs and wings usually have.
It's not the best damage however, but it's probably the easiest to achieve in comparison to others like DBs where a single misstep means death and time loss.

Daora's very close to the best.
Diablos is a surprisingly mediocre HBG this time around. It's good for siege Pierce, but I think that Gravios usually beats it.
The closest competition Kushala has is actually the Barioth HBG, and I think the Barioth HBG is often better. It's a question of the superior raw and clip sizes of Barioth vs a superior siege fire (Pierce 1 on Daora vs Pierce 2 on Barioth).

Hard to compete against pierce1 now that it got buff'd to 9x3, now pierce 2 is only 1MV more, and only if you got the 4 hits. Top balancing.

And Diablos HBG has a true raw of 342, and sieges pierce 1 and 2. I'd take Gravios HBG over Diablos if I needed that extra slot for my set.

Daora, Akantor, Mizu are the top HBGs. Shiggy is rip since they actually balanced it's raw instead of matching it to an Akantor weapon. Blos is only good for climbing the ranks and is basically the best pre-HR13 HBG if you solo the final boss

So I just went & bought a New 3DS XL today primarily for MH. I'm planning to hack it, after looking up the serial It seems its preloaded with 11.0.0-33U firmware.

looks like this version is o.k to hack with the soundhax exploit to launch homebrew.

Question is, If I turn it on stock standard to test it out, at what point would it automatically try to update to 11.3? (im guessing as soon as you enable an internet connection?) I assume I should be able to test it out with the wifi disabled no problem? The last thing I want is it to update to 1.3 & screw my chances of hacking this thing. So Ive just started playing monster hunter again after a long time away.

I started with the PS2 original years ago then moved to MHFU which is definitely the one ive sunk the most hours into. A few years after playing that I decided to get back in to it, started MHportable 3rd (before i get going with the 3ds MH's).

So far pretty similar to what i remember from MHFU, but slightly different weapons. Forcing myself early game to learn GS (in MHFU i mained HBG) since i'm shit with it.

What are the best weapons to learn that will be transferrable to the newer games? I understand every weapon can be good if you know how to use it well, but I could never work out shit like the hunting horn, bow or gunlance.

Also Switch axe is new to me, i remember it being a meme weapon, why?, because its OP, shit or both?

What's G Nakarkos like? is any of its gear worth making or is it complete shit?

Today i played MH4U and got to G2.
I'm taking a break and letting my 3DS charge, later today or tomorrow i'll have to farm Ioprey for a bit, and then i'll have to start farming Seregios roughly 5 billion times until i have it's full set + weapon so i have something decent as a starting platform to get into rougher G rank quests.
