I think I solved what that spell icon of the Silver Knight with Ledo's hammer is -

when you first enter the Ringed City and the giant summons all the archers, he can also summon a dragon head, as well as a Silver Knight with Ledo's Hammer. It does the WA and disappears.
We can assume that they made it a miracle and allowed the giant to cast it, but the fact it actually had an icon meant it was probably going to be a player spell at one point

Midir is really tough. You can only attack his head for decent damage and you almost never get an opening to do it, on top of that nearly every one of his attacks is horrifically damaging.

Though maybe all of this is because I'm on NG+5.

There is a Delay before the archers appear and the giant makes a lot of noise when he Summons them.
Thats your cue to get behind the stone walls.
Once they despawn you run to the next Cover and wait. Rinse and repear until you are at the giant.
Now you must be quick and attack him before he finished summoning the next Wave. If you hit him his summoning is disrupted but if he is too far into it he'll summon them and you die.

my problem is not even the actual duration of it, sure, it could be a bit longer, but i had a lot of fun pretty much the entire way, the dragonslayer armor re-match duel and the dual-GS ringed knight brawl was some of the most fun, but when you think it's going to be so much more and then it just suddenly ends, it's hard not to feel let down. fuck, all they needed to have done was to place the dragon fight in the middle of the ringed city trek and it would have felt way better.
