I mean plugging in the values is certainly an improvement but that's not all that has been done on hellfire.. they have years of DB work to add missing abilties and fix taunt/stun/disarm immunities. Some of the C++ scripts have also been completely remade from stock HG. These are things you can't just copy from CC, it takes work.

I'd wager there are heaps of disarmable and tauntable trash mobs in HG kara that arent supposed to be that, this was the case on Hellfire at launch. HG hasn't really touched their early content (T6 focus) for years apart from some last minute panic prenerfing last month. It's just a recipe for disaster and I've seen so many bugs with my own eyes already that there's just no way I'm going back at this point.

THAT BEING SAID if your main focus is PvP I'd stick to HG, I think the core has a slight edge in pvp class mechanis and the double population will lead to a MUCH better arena/bg scene.

From what I've seen from the hg discord the vast majority of people don't want to level again and would rather wait for hellground, there are a few that say that they will try it out and level up as a backup in case hellground cucks us again and there appear to be some people that are done with tbc servers for now.

What does this tell us? It tells us that if hellground comes back, hellfire is doa as far as wpsg guilds go. But what if hellground never comes back? Will the people that wasted time waiting for hellground go to hellfire? So now that this is a thing, how many years do we have to give blizzard before the release of legacy servers?

Well, i've tried several tbc servers in the past (hellground and excalibur), and i've been really disappointed by them. Playing on gummy's.... well it's like comparing the earth and the sky, gummy is definitely in a different league : i do remember plenty of little details from retail's tbc (pre-nerf, some bosses spells, quests, etc etc...) and it's all here, really.
Is it perfect? Not quite, even retail wasn't perfect, and there are still some raids to fix. But what i can say is that gummy fixes things incredibly fast, and he's very accurate.
It's hard to compare corecraft to gummy's, really but i doubt it's worth it : corecraft is kinda dead, and gummy's is alive, and VERY good (in my opinion, his heroic dungeons are even better than corecraft's).
The best thing, again, is how fast gummy is fixing bugs : it's a great thing in the long term, and that's what you should be worried about.

I won't name any other private tbc server, because it' too easy to bash other projects, but yes, like bombo said, if you compare gummy's to them, it's very easy to make a choice : i tested corecraft in 2014-2016, and while it was very good in tbc, it wasn't quite the same in vanilla (they wanted to use their instant 58 eature) as they didn't take the time to polish the vanilla content (leveling) though they did take care of the raids, while gummy polished the leveling content but didn't take care of the vanilla raids yet (he intends to do it after the launch i believe).
As for the tbc content... i (i may be wrong) have the impression that the quests are even more accurate, and that the dungeons are even better than corecraft, difficulty-wise, and script-wise (although corecraft is still quite good, mind you.)
I don't think you should compare cc to Gummy's : both are excellent projects, but corecraft is out of the picture. What matters is that, while still in development, and when compared to ALL the other tbc servers, it's better by leaps and bounds.
