you can see bloodborne got some of it inspiration from movies like brotherhood of the wolf and the 2004 van helsing. they focus on the 1800's horror elements.

Because 99% of DS3's soundtrack was cacophonous orchestra and wailing chorus, no discernible or particular difference between various themes. They were going for the 'epic battle' feeling and got it to the detriment of sounding like those weird generic epic music channels on YouTube. There were a few okay pieces here and there, High Lord Wolnir's theme in particular stands out to me because of its atmosphere and reliance on the deep, male vocals and sweeping, lurching orchestration befitting a colossal magic skeleton. It sounded spooky and it sounded BIG, like Wolnir himself. Compare it to stuff like Pinwheel's theme from DS1 which was a creepy soundscape of whispers and minimal orchestration, or Ornstein and Smough's theme, which has a clear, discernible tune.

Bloodborne's soundtrack, on the other hand, contains variations and specific tunes to each boss. For the most part, they have a distinct piece of music, written to reflect the theme and design of the boss very clearly. Gascoigne's theme is a thundering, relentless track which befits a hunter on the bloody hunt, Bloodstarved Beast's theme is manic befitting the chaotic nature of the boss' appearance and movements, Mergo's Wet Nurse simply plays a lullaby to calm the child it protects, Ludwig's themes change from a slightly manic, melancholic string-dominated piece til halfway through it becomes a grand, operatic swell for when Ludwig regains his mind and nobility, and finally, the Living Failure's theme builds from the beginning into a glorious climax at the cosmic meteor reveal and continues on through the fight. Then there's stuff like 'Hail the Nightmare', an incredibly unsettling and religiously-overtoned chanting (great example of diagetic music if you're ever looking for one) and 'Soothing Hymn' for the Orphanage in Upper Cathedral Ward.

I'm in two minds about a port. On the one hand, I feel like after people on PC play it, they wouldn't constantly be making half-baked insults about it and could actually join it alongside us. The datamining groups might also find items of great interest. On the other hand, the case of them picking it apart and some certain people wanting a port simply to furiously masturbate over having access to it on PC wouldn't be good in the slightest. By the same token, some people here (guess who I'm referring to) would probably have a nervous breakdown if the port saw the light of day.

Miyazaki has said he hates sequels, so a BB sequel could go through the same hell that DaS 2 did. I'm hoping that they do another spiritual successor instead of follow-ups.
However, if a BB 2 did happen, I would actually want it as a prequel, specifically the hunt seen in Loran. We know there was a hunt there, between the presence of Vitus, an Old Hunter with early equipment, and numerous amounts of medical equipment (according to the Chalice descriptions), there would be little to no lore disruption, they could expand on the early hunt, we could find out how exactly a city the size of Yharnam or even larger got swept away by the sands, you get the idea.

I've yet to play DS1 or 2, not sure if this is how it is or if they actually do get harder in subsequent playthroughs. BB seemed to progress well difficulty wise.

More specifically, it depends on what you want out of your weapons. If you want to primarily use the tricked Wheel, you rock 25/50. If you want to smash stuff with blunt gems, 50/25. Similarly, if you want to use moonbeams and tools, you run 25/50, but know that if you do the blade of the Holy Moonlight Sword won't do stellar damage. Or you can use 50/25 HMS and smack stuff with hugely powerful untricked R2s and hilarious rollcatching power in its R1s, but the moonbeams will be lackluster to say the least.

I don't have enough experience with the Boomhammer to say what that wants, but it strikes me as something you'd use on a strength build rather than an arc build.

Well, I guess it's over.

I liked all the games, but it was a bit sad watching Demon's Souls develop from a much-needed breath of fresh air in a stagnant industry, to becoming just another franchise. Lacking entirely in the novelty and magic it once had, repeating the same motions over and over. That's probably a better way to put it. Some of the more interesting enemies were too rare, and to this very day there are still some things many players like myself haven't even seen once, like those bizarre tunnel worms.
I also kind of wish it were easier to make your own fresh dungeons. Going into NG+ is a small price to pay, but some of the materials are still a bit too rare and eventually the cost of dungeons outstrips the gains of venturing.

I think Sony just gives Miyazaki the free reign he requires to produce great games. There's a boss in the area with two pigs relatively close to each other, there's a ramp leading downwards and into a large clearing where the boss is.

Forbidden woods also has a hidden section, if you keep to the left from the start, you'll come across an area with houses and dog cages. If you go behind the dog cages, you can find an entrance to a cave which will eventually lead back to Central Yharnam.

Is a no-Hunter's Dream run possible? Start on NG+, never go to HD just run through the game without dying and only going back to Hunter's Dream when you're ready to beat Gehrman?

The areas that branched off just for you to fight more enemies didn't even have good rewards. The DS2 DLCs were content originally meant for the base game(the same thing with DS1, 3 and probably Bloodborne as well). If they had actually done that, Dark Souls 2 would've felt like a MUCH more coherent and well-made game imo.

The DLCs of Dark Souls 2 were made by the same team that made DS2 in general.

Now the "Old Ones" of DS2 are just literally whos who have no real bearing to the game's story while the DLC end bosses/characters, the shards of Manus, are actually relevant to DS2's plot.

The Dark Souls 2 DLCs have actually relatively interesting narratives within them, the Ivory Kang being probably the cream of the lore crop as far as Dark Souls 2 is concerned, and has the hypest fucking bossfight buildup of the entire game.

I started with Souls and not Bloodborne and I think that DaS 2 is "more Souls" which is a good thing but DaS 2's combat is really fucking sluggish and it just feels really off-brand. The atmosphere is very lacking a lot of the time, the game feels like it became much less 'dark' and took a leap into WoW / Skyrim stylistically. The environments are inconsistent in visual design and the level design is shit.

The movement and combat feels like it's underwater for lack of a better descriptor. The combat doesn't feel satisfying, it feels really slow, unresponsive and dull. It's much more tactical in my opinion that Spamrollsouls 3, but the feeling of unresponsiveness and the lack of satisfying audiovisual feedback makes it a chore. Overall I think that if you can get Softs cheap it's worth a try because the DLCs have decent boss fights, but if that money can buy you any other Soulsborne game, go for that instead.

I could rant about the PvP endlessly how they made really shit choices in regards to that but the PvP is long dead in DS2 and I was never much of a pvp guy anyway.

Ranked with rest of Soulsborne DS2 is a 7/10 if you consider Softs , a 5 /10 if we're talking vanilla game with no DLCs.

But compared to non-Soulsborne, non-Nioh games DaS 2 is decent when you consider it's a PS3 generation title.

I, personally, like having 20 endurance. It feels like the perfect amount, I experimented with 15 and it just didn't sit, I couldn't hold the L2 on the whirling as long as I wanted and couldn't combo some R2 as much as I'd like. But I'm aware that's an exaggerated amount, specially with tier 3 runes.

Sorry for the skepticism, but why Skill? From the 3, it feels like the one I'll benefit less.

- Blt also is tempting because of the church cannon and all other guns that become usable at that point, that now are nothing but parry tools.
- As for Skl. It opens Stake Driver for use? Ludwig's HB?

My reasoning is that all skill weapons become viable to you. Because of the heavy abyssal buff you can use skill weapons with very little loss of AR on a Str leaning quality build.

As for the endurance, you don't really do big fat combos in pvp. If you do it, your enemy will capitalize bigtime because you will be stuck in your animations.
