Do some lab work, learn your movesets and which and when canceling techniques are appropriate to extend combos. Donguri990, Mike Kobayashi, and TopTierAction all have decent Automata combo videos on youtube. Watch them and study what they do.

You're exterior layers boiling would actually create a "protective" steam envelope insulating you from the molten metal to some degree slowing your rate of cooking ontop of your exterior layers carbonizing. You wouldn't just instantly pop like a balloon from steam build up like a cartoon you'd roast for a little bit in a controlled fashion though your brain death would happen from heat exposure in 10 seconds tops but you'd probably be awake for maybe 3 seconds of it.
The pyroclastic blast actually killed through concussive force from the compressed air.

I had a question about the end of route C.

Did the localization team screw up, and accidentally include the info about the bunker's back door too early in the document about machine cores, when N2 is actually supposed to reveal the truth to 9S later?

Cypress has a MUCH higher chance than Pipe and is overall better for it even if the pipe has a high damage roof.
Cypress crits also seem to have a bigger modifier, somewhere around x4+
Having both equipped DOES stack the chance so just roll with both and use the stick.
Its something like 20% when you got both and use cypress alone.
Crit chips are always better even if you can fit that extra 50% damage chip just because more proccing will always give a bigger net yield.
Crit modifier seems to depend solely on the weapon and I don't have strong numbers beyond the stick and pipe.

Route A was a slow burn, took a while to get into it. Route B was a nice change of pace.
Just started route C, did not expect a anything this dramatically different. Also:

Quick question about the death / save system in Automata.

If I, for example, die to a boss then quit out of the game, will my body and its chips disappear no matter what? Or is it about some amount of in-game time passing?

Another question. If I run in and grab my body, then quit out of the game without beating the boss, will that count as having retrieved it?

Basically my chips are in the boss arena but I kinda want to take a break.

So, how am I supposed to level up enough to fight Emil? Pretty much all the enemies around the world are low leveled, and just walking around and killing them would be boring even if they would've been higher level.

I wanted to play like a real NG+ with scaled enemies, but then I noticed that this only extended to the very first flight segment, but as soon as you lose the flight suit, the enemies are back to being < level 5.

How did you guys level up enough to be able to fight him, preferably without cheesing with hacks?

Shit like weapon switch if timed correctly won't even break your current combo so 3, switch, 3, switch, 3, etc. with 2 fists on 9S basically means you're ALWAYS swining 2 fists per attack.

His sword shit is broken to piss to. Unlike A2B sword attacks that are "per slash" 9S' shit is "per contact" so as long as the weapon model is in contact with an enemies model it "ticks" and hits per "tick" so you proc shit like crits or lvl.4 effects far more.

A 450% taunt cypress stick crit on 9S will actually crash the game sometimes as you can actually land 3 "ticks" per swing and if each "tick" is a crit the game can't handle that.

Seriously the more i look into it the more broken he and the only reason A2B stand a chance are their broken air juggles.

Do side quests, a lot of them feed into the main story in some way, the game does not end on Route A, also explore combos. the tutorial doesn't tell you much when it comes to movesets, It took me a full second playthrough to discover that you can do a counter move with your Pod along with a few other moves.
