I don't think he understands Sonic as well as he lets on. I love Trackmania as much as the next guy, but last time I checked, Sonic was a platformer. I think his control scheme needs to reflect that.

It's a fine sentiment, and I've always believed that it's the true source of 3D Sonic's problems, above all else. However, in his recent "how I think 3D Sonic should work" video, he proposes (and I'm heavily paraphrasing here) giving Sonic a literal acceleration button instead of using the control stick to move him forward. (So like Lost World but even worse.) On top of that, he suggests a game that's more arcade like that essentially heavily relies on memorization and the spectacle of pulling off tricks like Sonic Rush in a very linear race car-like track.

I mean, if the goal is to make Sonic "feel" fast, I guess it could accomplish that. But like the boost formula, it certainly leaves a lot to be desired in the depth department.

You have yet to explain why this is a bad idea other than "it's a platformer so that's wrong". As he also explains, Hulk: Ultimate Destruction is sortof a platformer too, and it plays great.

You have to admit that if you're going to be pushing Sonic forward for an extended period of time (which EVERY Sonic game does, even fucking Utopia) it makes far more sense to give him a gas pedal. I don't agree that it should be the default control scheme, but then he doesn't either.

In fact I'd say that 1 would be the worst option, because at least with 3 somebody could mod the level design into Generations. And IMO option 3 describes Unleashed perfectly.

Okay, finished all playthrough of Shadow's game. Is it me or was sega high? The writing is horrible, the dialogue even more, the cutscenes are all over the place with no rhyme or reason and so many things don't make sense reguarding the emeralds that I don't even know where to start. Prime example being Shadow stealing the emerald powering the space ship tails built to take him to the arc. Like, for what purpose did that scene exist? Without that power source shadow and sonic's group should of plummeted back to earth and died in the process. It felt like watching some really bad fanfiction come to life. Even the final story is riddled with holes. How did Shadow get the emeralds and not make an enemy of Sonic friends, how would shadow be that close to giving doom the gems and not already know what he has planned when he explained that shit already? Did the comics handle this better?

The guys running it are way, waaaaaay too invested in what they want to see from it. The lead writer is also too invested in "muh lore, muh plan, muh resolution" to be effective.

The second "issue" showed a lot of promise, because several skilled amateur artists poured their hearts into their work. The writers, while generally not that good, were surprisingly receptive to feedback too. But then the guys in charge decided they weren't gonna bother with any more "noncanon" stuff, and that should have been your first red flag.

You've got a committee of fans who are invested in their vision for the continuity working with a bunch of artists who are also working on it because they loved tge old stuff with no outside party to reel them in. This is the same situation that KILLED Spider-Man and Superman in the 90's, except here everyone involved is an amateur, the artists aren't even getting paid, and the release schedule is abysmal. It's not going to work. It's going to flounder the exact same way actual mainstream comics did under these conditions. They're locking down on just goofing off and pitching what-ifs; you gotta see how that's gonna hurt a community driven project.

If you really want to write this stuff, either make it yourself or buddy up with a passionate artist. You don't need these doofuses to make a fun fancomic and you're GOING to get burned if you stick with them. Don't wait four years to MAYBE get your story: Tell it now! It's better for everyone that way.

The thing is, she does (Codependency to an unhealthy degree, impulsiveness, running away from any problems that can't be solved with her fists, putting her emotions ahead of logic), but she never gets enough focus or stories about her that bother to show these off. A lot of Bunnie's personality traits are things that aren't explicitly shown off. People think that because she shows up a lot, that she gets a lot of focus, but that's not the case. In fact, out of all the FFs, outside of maybe Rotor, she has the least amount of stories ABOUT her, as compared to stories that simply involve her, and even less that don't involve Antoine. In fact, on that end, I can think of only 3 stories that fit that: 1 from the really early comics, Thicker than Water (Which is debateable at best), and the 281 backup, which was just that, a backup. Hidden Costs is more about Cassia and Clove than Bunnie.

Now of course, there have been attempts to remedy this, as both pre-reboot and now, there was an attempt by Ian to give her a unique character arc, but it gets cut short due to reasons outside of Ian's control (The reboot and the hiatus/cancellation respectively)

That is true....as long as Antoine or Sally is around. Take them out of the equation and she falls apart on some level (Antoine getting replaced by Patch without her knowing did cause her some level of grief as seen in 144, and do I really need to mention how she fell apart after Antoine "died" and Sally got robotocized) And again, while your second point is valid, that's more because she never gets enough focus to show OFF these flaws of hers. Let's take someone like Sally for example. She got a shitton of focus in the comics, especially pre-reboot, so you got to see all of her flaws, both obvious and subtle. This isn't the case with Bunnie, who more often than not is there for the sake of just....being there.

And they were going to do that, with Beau, and it's perfect for her character because it puts her in a nigh unwinnable situation, and one she can't run from or take the easy way out of forever.

The problem is that Bunnie does have what it takes to be just as nuanced and interesting as some of the most developed characters, but nobody ever bothers to take advantage of that. This even extends to the fanbase, where you'll rarely, if ever see her in fanfics unless it's just as "Sally's friend". I can count the amount of fics I've seen about her on one fucking hand, and those that don't involve Antoine on none. Don't get me wrong, I love Antoine, and I love their relationship, but I hate that there's people that believe that her character is just "Antoine's wife" and refuse to pay attention to any other part of her

Being a Bunniefag is an abstract kind of suffering. Like she's used, she's not dead or completely thrown to the void, but at the same time she never gets used to her fullest
