All attacks consume notably less stamina
2H they received very little other change beyond the 2HR1 having less recovery. The 1st 2HR1 chains into the second one more quickly and so combos more consistently.
1H, the R1 got much, much faster. Like, a huge speedup. 1H is now the best way to use greathammers as you both attack faster and recover more quickly. Long reach, low-risk pokes that combo consistently for big damage.

All of your attacks move you forward more than they used to, so you'll cover a bit of ground you didn't before.

Running attacks (both 1H and 2H) got a massive boost to their speed and a huge reduction to their recovery. You can now effectively chase and punish backroll->estus. A whiffed running attack can go into an R1 almost immediately with very little gap and a successful running attack can go into an R1 rollcatch if you call-out their roll direction. The 1H running attack got more of a speed buff than the 2H but both are very good now.

I did early-ish Friede the other day on a playthrough to prep for the dlc and I'll tell you it's a huge pain.
+6 weapons do just enough damage to matter, though the fight gets strung out a lot because of it. I had to rely a lot on backstabs because single R1s just weren't making a big enough dent in her phase 3 HP bar.

The biggest issues are the lack of HP and stamina at a low level. Stray hits and small fuckups hurt because your pool is so small, and it can be genuinely difficult to dodge all her shit and counterattack successfully when you only have like 15 end. Plus, having only a small stock of estus made it even more difficult.

It took me about 6 tries at level 40 with a +6 weapon so I can't even imagine what it would be like for someone rushing to Friede ASAP

You can access AoA from Cathedral so getting to TRC through that is much faster than completing the entire game first.

I assume the actual connection will probably be something like "player has a vision and dreams of the end of the world" sort of thing. Clearly from the story setup, Gael has not timetraveled, and has actually spent the time from when you last see him in AoA, all the way to the end of time itself, searching for the ringed city.

The Giants we encounter in Drangleic are slaves that were taken back across the sea. The "Golems" in Drangleic Castle have hebrew runes on their faces and holes in their chests, while the older golems have holes around where their heads should be. The holes in the giants was either dug out to be a vessel for souls, to use them like golems, or was where their command runes were carved and dug out to free themselves when they rebelled.

Either way, there's no natural-born assholeface giant. The hole is a golem thing that's unique to the giants who were subjugated by Vendrick.

Why does the Dragonslayer spear even exist in DaS 2? +3 has like 100 lower AR than +7 Heide's spear, while the former can also be buffed, uses less stamina, and has lower str requirement. Literally the only thing Dragonslayer spear has going on for it is the r2 attack. Why wasn't it balanced at some point in patches, this is my favourite weapon.

Some of the assets in this patch seem a little rough.
I was fucking around with the Ringed straightsword and there was all kinds of little bugs where the WA particle effect would bug out in certain ambient lighting. At one point I got it to disalign from the sword completely, so there was just this floating fireblade particle orbiting my sword. It wouldn't go away, either.

The patch on monday will hopefully clean some of this up a little.

Yeah. Holding L2 spins it over your head, costing stamina for each rotation and dealing damage all around you, but not costing any FP
R1 does a quick horizontal slash ender, R2 does a spinning leap. Releasing it ends the stance and you can roll out of it at any point.

If you hold it for 3 rotations, it gets stronger, consuming more stamina and dealing more damage, while also significantly buffing the damage of the followup attacks.

I believe you can combo R1 into the first spin of the stance, though I don't know if you can also get a followup out of that

Exile GS is now a heavy 66/16 weapon instead of a sharp 26/40 weapon. Say goodbye to pairing it with whips and rapiers, and hello to 797 physical AR while twohanding it with blessed weapon active.

Monastery scimitar also has an infinite combo now. It's fast enough to proc the damage pontiff eye ring but not the healing one for some odd reason. Use DMB if you actually want to kill someone, otherwise you'll run out of stamina before doing as much damage as an Exile R1-R1 combo.

Greathammers are better than they were, heavy barbed SS with a heavy spiked mace is really cozy for invasions.

Infusions got tweaked, refined isn't the hands down best anymore, and rouge got nerfed enough that it doesn't make bleed infusion look as bad.

In my opinion it becomes clear that she is a very talented magic user, at least in comparison to type of mage we can play, if we look at how she uses magic. She doesnt even need to use any form of catalyst, I would hardly count her weapon. This is something we also see with Navlaan, Lothric, the winged knights, the old demon king and the demon priests and probably many more. She is also in so far similiar to the demons as her black flame seems to be an essential part of her metaphysical anatomy if you want to call it that like chaos is to demons. I would say that we have to think of enemy mages on an entire different level than player character mages since in comparison all the casters we can play as are braindead idiots. We need catalysts to cast and cant even create our own spells. Lothric among other examples also shows that all schools of magic share very close roots or might even be fundamentally the same, a concept also present in demons souls, but thats an entirely different topic.

I like Kiln and Roof for 1v1. Kiln has the problem of silvercat heal faggots dropping from the tower. Roof has the problem of just running circles around the middle. Dragon Peak Ruins is only good for 2v2 and 3v3 in my opinion.
