Trading is basically easymode for PoE already. I don't know why you guys end up bitching about a system that lets you trivialize a lot of the challenge for not being efficient enough. I've been trying to get into wander, following this guide https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/1822695/page/1

As I understand it, Pathfinder is best if you have the flasks (mainly dying sun) and if you don't Raider is better on a budget. I'm starting out Raider then respecing to Pathfinder as soon as I can afford a dying sun.

there's literally no big ticket expensive item that is necessary for the build, you can even do it life based which phil has proved is even shaper viable, although he's playing legacy softcore so there's different standards there.

Even the wand that you eventually want to craft with multimod can be replaced with a budget wand, I'm one shotting T8 bosses with the 1c wand I bought when I hit mercy dried lake while keeping an eye out for a good wand on poe.trade.

So do you actually get more DPS using 2 usable weapons for something like Blade Flurry (I.E. Two swords) or is it better to use just your mainhand weapon then get another weapon as a stat stick (I.E. Sword + Offhand mace or axe with high +% physical damage)?

I popped a bloodline pack using blade flurry with some kind of ground effect explosion and I guess one of the explosions stunned me long enough for the rest to kill. It was more than a 1-shot.

When does Ignite picks up?

I'm at A3M right now with Burning arrow and my damage is ridiculously high for that part of the game and yet my ignite feels a bit boring, even if I can have 2 of them with the jewel. I killed piety in 5 seconds (stopped 2 to check how her health fell) and it was barely noticeable.

Trash mobs melt to Herald of Ash but the actual ignite from the Arrow doesn't do shit even if my attack is 100% fire.

Can't post tree cause I'm in bed and can't be assed.

But I'm Ranger and mostly took the WED nodes. At the bottom right, then went up in the Shadow area for the Elemental nodes and the projectiles nodes in the Nullification cluster. I Know the WED clusters don't double dip but I figured I'd take them anyway because they get you elemental pen which does help.

The rest of the damage from the tree would be from crit investment, but maybe I should abandon crit and try to get elemental nodes in the Witch area or maybe the Proj cluster in the duelist area?

it costs less than 10 chaos to craft a chest with 500 ES:
1) get a vaal regalia
2) spam alts/augs until you get 130 or more flat ES
3) aug, regal, pray you don't get a low %ES roll
4) master craft %ES
the bare minimum that will get you is 573 ES. if you get a shitty % ES roll on the regal then you have to get a new regalia and start over (or scour it if this regalia is a 6L or something and you really want to keep it). If you get a % ES roll that looks kinda low but also have % stun/block recovery, then you have hit the jackpot because that's a hybrid roll and you can still master craft % ES on top of that % ES and achieve 600-800 ES.

the other slots you probably just want to alch high tier bases (hubris circlet, sorc boots, sorc gloves, titanium spirit shield) since they don't need to be perfect and you really want to roll the resists you probably don't have on your chest.

Strongboxes can stay, but I think that tormented spirits, essences, shrines and breaches could be condensed into a single mechanic, like "obelisks" shattering them will release a monster that drops a shard of the obelisk. each type of obelisk is associated with a concept, similar to essences. via vendorcrafting these shards could then be crafted into maps, essences, etc. The freed and slain enemy(s) then grant a buff effect

I'm 99% sure this will still be the case in 3.0 because GGG simply does not understand the problem.

They will probably do some minor nerfs to ES, and some minor buffs to life, and that's it, when in reality we need massive changes.

What we need :

VP needs to be moved on the left side, why is a keystone that has as a downside "no regen" in an area with almost no regen ?

VP needs a proper downside and should not work with Ghost Reaver.

We need a new tier of high level life flasks that works on a % based system

Life flasks should have their mods redesigned, many are very low power or outdated, and pale in comparison to what a utility flask offers.

Volatile needs redesigned/removed

Either buff life on the tree or buff life per level, we do not need more life nodes, life builds already spend a large percentage of their points on life or getting to life nodes. This is especially needed on the right side of the tree.

I'm heavily in favor of them buffing life per level for another reason, CI builds can use multiple uniques in their build with little downside, as a HC player, every time i use a unique with no life i'm fucked since i lose so much of my total healthpool. This limits build creation a lot.

The problem with ES imo was that originally you got a huge hp pool but it was traded by a lack of effective defences; Vaal Pact and Ghost Reaver and CI were on different parts of the tree and required heaps of pathing.

Now they're close together AND there are tons of supplemental defences (flasks, vaal displine etc) that buff it. So the original idea of life + secondary defence vs huge es pool is now life + defence vs huge es + leech + flasks

Well not really, I started years ago and got all the way through the first act to end up quitting because I had like 40 other games on my backlog I wanted to play and I just never got back into it.

People have just been telling me to have fun my first time and take it as a learning experience rather than looking up a build and following it. Is that a good idea? How long will it take me to level up the inevitable alt I make when my character is too weak to keep leveling past a certain point?

I think that it's a good idea to look at a build, at least one time, in order to get a general idea about which stats are to be prioritized. mainly defensive stats; we've all made glass-cannons as our first chars and it is absolutely dreadful once you reach late cruel
In general, you'll want to tailor your tree towards one main skill that you like and want to stick with, so the most important part when it comes to building is to decide on your defense mechanism(s) and damage source.

You can get 6 attacks regardless of attack speed so you can go heavy on ES and skill duration node. That lets you pretty much ignore all damage in the game. Realistic damage reduction would put you down to 15% elemental damage being the only thing that can touch you. With some spell block.

The closest you'll get to a melee/spellcaster hybrid while being able to clear most content would probably be a Cast on Crit or Mjöllnir build, both of which were gutted some patches ago because they were broken as fuck.

I might be missing some legit hybrid build that I didn't see yet, but investing 50% of your damage skillpoints into lets say spell damage and the other half into melee damage will thin it out too much.

The reason why cast on crit is sort of efficient in that way is that you can compliment both the spell and the attack portion with the generic crit -stats and neglect everything else about your attack while pimping out the spell damage. Or so I feel.
