I just finished KnS, and What a fucking sad note to end on. I was holding out a bit of hope for a happier resolution, given how Cartagra ended, but nope. At least they caught Yukiko's killer, I guess. .

I'm not sure whether I should jump right into KnS2 or wait seven years for the third to be finished and translated.

Comparing the two, I like the characters in KnS more, though I preferred Shugo as a protag. It was also nice to at least have things end on a fairly high note in Cartagra as opposed to the depressing cliffhanger that KnS left off on.

If you want to go for KnS be prepared for a really long and boring prologue, new characters that aren't as good as the ones from the first one, yet another really depressing cliffhanger ending, Yaginuma becoming best boy and tons of references to Shugo's investigation from Cartagra. Also Reiji is voiced by Archer which is music to my ears.

To be fair, KoiKuma all ages legitimately seems to be more on Smile than Sekai with how it was announced. But it does create an interesting test case, as if that with a patch works, pretty much everything could work with Steam + patch.

Not that it will affect their current titles, but another question for Sekai going forward is how Chrono Clock did on Nutaku vs Steam (along with how upcoming titles do). Da Capo III seems to have done a bit better on MG than Steam, while Chrono Clock had the vast majority of its Kickstarter backers opt to pay extra for the Nutaku, but it is an open question what the Nutaku vs Steam ratio looked like with non-backers.

So what's the ranking on DCIII girls? Himeno is our third generation Yume and I haven't liked either of her previous versions much, but I'm curious how the other four stack up.

The max extent of any such censorship already occurred, and it is likely CERO D guidelines were the deciding force. P-Qube will likely be the one to license it (provided it gets licensed, which the retailer leak suggests it already is), and they typically are fairly anti-censorship with their titles.

I'd love to see a comparison down the road of how it compares with the Saturn version. Judging by the Saturn voice patch for the fan translation the Saturn version maintained quite a lot of dialogue, but I wouldn't be surprised if the remake is somewhat more censored since it touches things CERO can be iffy about.

The worst part about the remake is how abundantly inferior some of the VA work is. The original YU-NO was immaculate in that regard. There are a few serious miscasts and bad performances in the Remake.

Also the artist, whether or not you prefer the new art to the old, is pretty generic and mediocre no matter how you swing it. There are numerous CG where the new art clearly misses the point of the scene and the tone is distinctly inferior. A good example is the Kouzou confrontation during the end of the prologue. In the original CG, you can see Kanna in the background, but she still blends in very well. In the new one the positioning and lighting is all strange, and she looks VERY conspicuous. There are numerous other instances of these kind of bad changes in the new art. And, when given the option to make positive changes, the Remake rarely does so. Take, for instance, the numerous amounts of dutch angles in the original. A lot of these are maintained in the Remake--almost down to the exact angle. BUT in the original those CG were only dutch angle'd that hard because the artist wanted to show off the extremely thick thighs and numerous panty shots--much of which is either covered up or toned down, not to mention that the thighs are twigs in comparison to the old art. And some of those dutch angles are just crazy bad. It's a shame that the Remake didn't opt to change them, it would've been one of the few positive things about the new art.

There are playthroughs of Yu-no already, it's pretty much the Saturn version with almost no changes, I think they made some silly ones like removing Eriko's smoking, but it's a pretty great remake, it also is selling like mad and was Twitter trending.
It's kind of crazy seeing this much love for an old game.
