I'm doing a kingos 1kat play myself, pretty fun.

Got my 160+10 finally last nigth, all my armor is like +9/+10, so will try to get that sorted out this weekend.

Stacking damage from behind / final blow damage. Unbuffed I usually do a 15k final blow (what ever it's called). My high attacks from behind are around 5-6k.

With carnage & the lower armor debuff on a boss I'm critting for 25-30k on final blows. It's pretty fun, but doesn't have the insane fury that some of the other move sets do.

If you use the bonfires to light your weapon, the bonfires will go out a few seconds afterwards and adds will be able to spawn from that part of the platform. It's better to leave them on and not light your weapon, really.

Use fire masks. They're called Hyottoko Masks, and they act like a flamethrower. They eat Omi Bozu alive even on NG+

Perfect ki pulses get rid of them, and there is a spirit later on that heals you every time you purify one.

Just swing once, watch the ki meter (or the particular effects), then press R1 to ki pulse and regain all your ki at once. Practice away from enemies if need be. You'll know you got it right when you hear the sound go off.

If you use living weapon on the new missions, you cannot get the crusher title. I've gibbed the Ninja Duo mission three times now and no Crusher title. Quick Conqueror, yes. Crusher (No damage) is what I'm not getting.

I didn't know you could forge these. Just dropped off some random enemy in the new Night Falls Again.

So what's the best way to get gold if I only have the first 3 regions unlocked in ng+? I reforged some gear with divine fragments without looking at the cost and now I'm stuck with some subpar weapon perks.

Fuck Honor, i put this on Way of the Samurai and got them done (and I still think 3 bosses at a time was utter bull), specially now that the game throws Sloth at you like crazy.

I'm gonna be on Coop for Way of the Strong all day.

Difficulty of the new stuff is not bad, I tried the one that throws tons of skeles and revenents at you first and got pretty far but stopped after 10 tries, then 1 try of the 3 spiders at once because fuck spiders. Then the 2 old guys fight which was a pushover, followed by the 6 boss guys in a row which was slightly harder in places. I got 5 texts from the 6 boss guys fight too, with almost no luck except on my helmet.

Really not looking forward to the 2 ninjas at once but everything should be fine.

I got through most of the game no problem but wheelmonks always either at least hit me or straight up kill me. What's the strategy for them? Seems almost impossible for me to get a smooth kill.

Get out of the way but don't be in line with their wheel. So don't be on their exact side because they can just casually roll into you for a fuckload of damage.

When in doubt, just face rush them. It's better to be caught in the flamethrower than to be ran over.

Because it doesn't. It's literally just moving to try and face you, but the wheel has a constant attack hit box whenever a Wheelmonk is moving.

It's dumb bullshit and is why they're the most bullshit enemy in the game, surpassing even the buff as fuck monk enemies.

God I love the dojo boss rush. Good amount of xp and loot and it's so quick to do.

Learning how to ki pulse consistently is essential
Learn Living Water skills, they turn your dodge into a ki pulse
Use whatever tools the game throws at you. Ranged weapons are considered cheese in a Souls games but Nioh isn't going to cut any slack just cause you want to do pure melee.

Bait the fire breath. Just stay right in front of their face, get a few hits and dodge backwards avoiding the breath. After breath dodge back in and rinse and repeat. They literally won't do anything else.

Attacking enemies from behind does extra damage. It's really useful against bosses.

When Oni are out of Ki they have zero poise, and breaking their horns instantly drains their ki once.

In Souls, you dodge out of a combo. In Nioh, you usually have to block. That said, Nioh also tends to reward aggression more. Ki Pulsing refills stamina which means you can attack nearly forever if you can keep your rhythm going and don't have to deal with enemy counters.

Stats don't matter hugely and it is almost to total benefit to splash a little bit of everything. 20 magic, 20 dex is handy for getting the missions for that, and spirit to get passives from your equipped spirit are dang nice.

Don't sleep on skills. A lot of incredibly useful, bread and butter-tier skills are in the various screens.

Loot comes and goes. Don't sweat any one piece unless it's incredible.

The first DLC will add a new enemy and new weapon type at the very least, as well as 'more difficult missions' but from what we've seen of how Koei Tecmo interprets 'more difficult' into shit that even a cheese build user like me is having trouble with, we might be in for some real horse shit.

So I discovered something really interesting with the axe. Recently I switched from Kato to Atlas Bear to make use of the Intensity buff and I've been using Rage instead of Battle Focus. I was sad because Battle Focus is basically required for Mad Spinner II, and with Rage it doesn't really work. But I've found a way around it:

If you cast Rage first, then go into the menus and equip Battle Focus and cast it immediately after, the decreased stamina usage overwrites the increased stamina usage from Rage. So you end up with increased damage, decreased stamina used while attacking, and increased stamina used while dodging. 2 good buffs and only 1 bad buff.

So if you do this before entering a boss room you'll have the buffs up long enough to get 1 or 2 good spins off before you have to settle for just using Rage. It's really the best of both worlds, powerful spins and an optimal Intensity build. Going into the menus doesn't take very long either, since it remembers what tab you were on when you left. It's like 3-4 inputs.

I don't know why, but it doesn't save after I kill a boss, so when I quit and reload to kill the boss again, i don't get any new gear. It did before, or is it only some bosses?

I feel overall so much weaker in both attack and defense. My build was a very basic 1kat/spear setup with emphasis on damage from behind and killing strike damage. I used to slash at larger skeletons and yoki for 3-4k damage a hit with 1kat from behind and now I merely deal 1.9-2.8k per back attack.

Enemies in NG+, excluding the new content for argument's sake, whom casually strike me now take 1/5 or 1/4 of my health rather than around 1/6-1/7.

I wasn't using any gimmick builds or cheese anything if you discount Sword of Execution. This game is now back to making me honestly think twice before I continue a combo or run headlong into a few enemies because I can't be as into the groove as I was before this patch without paying severely. I wasn't anywhere near max level (250) but still...

I like the Furiwakegami for its inherent Close Combat Ki Reduction. 22% is very lovely. I can live without that 9% Close Combat Damage. Even if I were to try to fill in the hole the patch left for my character with that 9% boost I'd still be lacking entirely what I had since it was a flat, overall percent. The same feeling goes if you happen to lose 10m+ Amrita. Would you bother to kill one or two enemies before exiting the same stage you just lost everything on to make up for it? I certainly wouldn't, but that's just how my brain works.

Definitely. After messing around with Kara-jishi, I'll still be content in using him. I kick, Iai, Spearfall and Merciless Barrage incredibly often enough, and the attack boost from Skill is definitely what gives my chain-unzipping the extra hand it prefers.

Every passive should work with any weapon unless the description makes it really obvious it won't (ie more damage to yokai with axes passive).

Mystic Arts may or may not work on other weapons.
There's not real logic here, it's just specific to any given mystic art.
You'd expect the 2kat def buff/reduced ki usage effects to carry over other weapons but it doesn't.
Meanwhile the increased reach for spear piercing attacks does work on any stabbing move no matter what weapon you use

How do I unlock Dojo missions in ng+? I've gone through the first two regions and so far all I've got is the basic and applied controls missions. I also looked in Way of the Samurai and I can't find any of the update missions. I did restart Nioh as well as the ps4, am I missing something?

So if my secondary weapon has passive skills on it so to speak, they'd still be in effect if I used my main weapon?

That 5 masters boss fight is honestly pretty great for getting a level or two up and is good practice for joining the parry master race.

Blocking is important in general.
There are some attack you can't dodge in time after their tell, so you kinda have to block or take damage.
If you can tank it, you shouldn't NEED to, but it's very good to.

Parry is more of a playstyle thingie.
It IS very good and useful. So if you want/can, master it.
1kat has lots of parries and most of them are great. But if you don't like parrying, that's pretty useless.

Master the parries, iai and flux.
Flux alone will help you get better A LOT.
Being able to combo with almost infinite stamina, while maintaining your tempo and keeping the enemy stunlocked is very cool.

I had my skepticism about Nioh but after playing it for a while I like the system better than Dark Souls. You can replay missions as many times as you want and fight the bosses instead of having to ng+ it over and over again. The combat is faster but so are the enemies so it's more enjoyable in a way.

If you play the new mission at Azuchi online you fight with Yuki-Onna, Yasuke and Nobunaga at the same time as compared to fighting Yasuke and Nobunaga.
