No it's not pop in, it's just that sometimes when I join a joint operation in the demo an oni I'm attacking at the start vanishes and then a big group of the target oni spawns, vanishes a few moments later and then they start spawning in lower numbers.

I did notice that when a quest asks you to defeat something those Oni take a few minutes to spawn though.

When they have a red glowing aura, using the demon hand will prioritize pulling them down above anything else.

And done the survey. Though the way this KS has been handled I'm not so sure if they have realized that NA and EU are different regions in PSN so they have to release it on both. I'll be probably waiting even more with my EU Vita region.

So, could someone possibly tell me why I would be better off getting a Vita over a PS4 or PStv? I have a few reasons of my own, which I will list:
-No room for a PS4.
-PS4 games are pretty damn expensive.
-Vita seems to have a RPG paradise going for it.

Cons of getting a Vita:
-PStv is incredibly cheaper, even with a memory card and games included. Not sure how much a PS4 controller is however.
-A PS4 has most of the Vita games apparently, as well as "AAA" titles.
-$270-300 for a Vita and the essentials is rather high for a five year old console.
-A PS4 is about fifty dollars more than a standard Vita.

Any input would be greatly appreciated! Might be ordering mine tomorrow, with any luck and I just want to make sure my choice is solid before I buy or do not buy a Vita. Many thanks in advance.

God damn Rifles with PLN/CON/SUP Mitamas are so much fun.

I'm not entirely convinced if they can do that. Especially for younger kids. Though I don't know amuch about Japanese kids market, not having some of the bigger games I think kids do play there does hurt that objective. Well, if they like challenge this is a big one of those.

Do you live with anybody else?

I found myself MUCH more able to enjoy games like Atelier when I don't have to worry about other people seeing/hearing me playing them. Not even that they're bad games, but it's hard to focus on actually enjoying games if they have shit you'd be embarrassed showing to your family.

As a result of this, the more weeaboo games are often vita-only.

Aside from that, it's true that many vita games are on PS4, but the inverse is that many PS4 games are on vita. And vita can also play PS1, PSP, and even a bunch of arcade and PC Engine games, all before emulation. PS4 still, mysteriously, cannot play PS1.

Not to mention that overall, I think the library is better than PS4.

Why get one over a PS TV? It's cooler and you'll like it more.

I have yet to play an Atelier game. I was going to start with the Arland games (which caught my eye long before I even had a Vita), but $80 is a lot for a newcomer to the series. I'm starting to think maybe I should start with Sophie instead, and go bak and do Arland and Dusk later if find the newer ones enjoyable. Will it be hard to go back and play the older games if I do that?

Honestly, I recommend starting with Arland for a bunch of reasons. $80 for 3 games is a lot, but the Arland games are also definitely enjoyed best as a trilogy.

Even putting off which games are the most technically advanced, or which has the best story, or which has the best gameplay, I still think Arland is the best entrypoint for the modern Atelier games, as IMO it's the trilogy that really captures the essence of what makes the Atelier series what it is.

The three games are all about crafting, the calendar system, and interactions between you, the characters, and the world.

The later games are good, too, don't get me wrong. But while they improve on the combat and make features more accessible, they definitely lost a good bit of the spirit of what makes the series so unique.

I'd say even if you have to choose a single game, Arland is still the best starting point, especially if you plan on checking other ones out later. Ayesha is nice, but the followups in the Dusk series I believe are rather lackluster. Sophie is just a different beast entirely.

I don't think it's unfair for 3 games, it's just that $80 is a lot for me, period.

Another factor I've been considering is that if I were to start with Sophie and Firis, I'd have at least some small chance of being caught up with everyone else by the time the sequel comes along (I'm assuming the Mysterious arc is planned for a trilogy as well). I kind of hate being eight games behind. That might be an even bigger factor than the money, actually.

Oh, definitely. I always try to do at least one blind playthrough of every game I buy. If I get totally stuck I may look on GameFAQs or a wiki, or ask somewhere like here, but I try to avoid that, even. Following guides makes me feel almost like I'm letting someone else play the game for me. I didn't used to mind "official" strategy guides (do those even exist anymore?), but step-by-step walkthroughs take all of the fun out of it.

I definitely want to play the Arland games at some point. I've been interested in the series since I saw the Rorona and Totori LE boxes for the PS3 version at GameStop, years ago. Then I found out about the Plus versions on Vita, so I passed on them until I got a Vita, and for some reason I still haven't gotten to them even though I've had a Vita for over a year.
