I think it's kinda wonderfully ironic that the Brotherhood in 4 can get wiped out due to the exact same flaw of thinking that can get the original brotherhood and the Mojave brotherhood getting their asses kicked.

Refusing to see anything but the most advanced tech as worth bothering about, either as an asset or a threat, time and time again they focus on the rarest, slickest technology both to use and as their target, while what ends up doing them in are always low tech things like a bunch of guys with rifles or primitive artillery.

How do you go about removing master files from a mod? There's this old overhaul mod for the Minutemen that I really love but it has a few master files that I don't like keeping around, namely kinda shitty weapon mods from the early months of FO4 modding, and I'd like to get rid of them if I can.

open the mod in fo4edit, then right click on the .esp entry and select 'Clean Masters'. as long as the Minuteman overhaul mod doesn't have any entries left over from those old weapon mods, it'll remove them as masters.

- enable the .esp that was generated
- rename your files properly
- make sure your files are in the right folder

Try following the guide to this: http://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/40453/?, it skips some steps and comes with its own songs and see if that works.

Yeah, I made Danse the elder, so I no longer have a problem with the brotherhood in my opinion.

Danse will keep the good things that Maxson did, the good things that Lyons did and instate his own reforms. At least that's my post ending fanfic that I have in my head.

I really do think Danse will make a great elder. Someone with all the best values of the Brotherhood but his own experience has shattered the blind fanaticism and more bigoted elements of the dogma so I think he'll strike the right balance between the old doctrines and common sense.

Does make me think though that the ultimate fate of the Brotherhood as an overall organization is to continue to fragment and splinter into these increasingly divergent and isolated offshoots that have long since ceased to be part of the same organization and could even end up going to war with each other.

Why are all the major factions so fucking wasteful?

I didn't even play fallout nv in 2010, I first played it in 2013. The joys of being a poorfag, I had a gamecube (played pokemon collosuem, rampage and some Mario game) from 2010-2013 and my mom sold it to put towards buying me a ps3 for my 16th birthday. Anyways, I was pretty sheltered tech wise as a kid due to being poor, I had a flip phone for all of middle school/half of highschool and didn't have wifi at home until I moved out into my own place. Purification and desalinization are completely different.
Purification removes impurities, desalinization removes salt, you could in theory do both by boiling the water to purify and desalinize it but for a population of 1kish that is a pretty hefty order and would take a lot of energy. Not to mention needing to filter out all the radiation as seen in setting, it absolutely permeates the water.

Is anyone else having issues with getting the latest WotC mod to work?

Like the game won't even register it. I remove it from my plugins list and get no notification it's uninstalled, likewise if I put it back in the widget that normally controls spawns doesn't show in my inventory.

The older version seemed to work fine.

I'm not too keen on playing without this mod either since I feel the gameworld is far too empty normally, given that I'm level 71 and usually the only thing that spawns in the wilds in the base game anymore are packs of feral dogs and molerats... hardly exciting or a challenge, even on Survival.

Any advise on how to get the mod working or perhaps if there's a mod that accomplishes something similar?

Because the MM is the only canon ending. Which is sad because they have their own problems, all wrought by Beth being lazy:

1. Despite Concord being a perfectly good place to reside in, Beth moved them to Sanctuary Hills for some reason.
2. MM only get two real quests: saving them in Concord and retaking the Castle. Remember, we have both Quincy (a former MM settlement) and the Forge (which Preston names by name as a problem when you go deal with that kid).
3. MM have "no opinion" on synth slavery, yet Preston gets butthurt if you become a real raider and enslave normal people. Not even a quest where you can duel him, Confederate-style.
4. MM only have one unique uniform, and one unique weapon modification. Even NCR troopers (with their shit-brown colored smocks) had more personality and variety (at least in the sense that you could tell who was infantry, who was heavy support, who was a mechanic, etc). I get that you're supposed to dress up settlers to fix this but some MM colored robco jumpsuits would go a long way here. Every other faction gets this.
5. No matter what the player does, the Massachusetts State House is completely locked off for the entirety of the game. This is bad because it's a natural headquarters for the MM.
6. On that note, none of the police stations can be taken over as MM offices. Yeah I get they're all supposed to be random dungeons for the infinite quests, but being able to turn each into a MM office would have gone a long way for worldbuilding.
7. No one-off MM quest involving a Ben Franklin like character discovering electricity using a kite.

Also, just to be clear: I'm fucking mad at Bethesda not because I want to be mad, but because they made the foundation of a great game but completely failed to execute it. Unfortunately, the MM are left being the "settlement" faction while every other faction gets cool stuff.

What else can I do to lessen stuttering for my (heavily modded) NV? I have NVSR with bLightCriticalSections=off and bReplaceHeap=on. I did the Skyrim thing with nvse_config.ini but the different settings I tried turned out the same (in the stuttering department).

In my enblocal.ini settings the one config that made a difference was EnableUnsafeMemoryHacks=true which made my frames smooth as butter but my game would crash guaranteed after ~20 minutes and I enter an interior cell or fast travel, so I keep it set to false but then the massive stuttering comes back.

The Boston subway system extends south of Quincy to Braintree, but I guess you could invent anything as it does not have to match up with the real world. I suppose if there was a military facility nearby, that would give you an excuse to have an underground system, to 'harden' it from attacks. Such a military rail network would make a target for nukes, or potentially could house nuclear devices which are leaking radiation into the surrounding area.

Children of Atom would make sense to be in the area. Ghouls, obviously. You could make your own human faction, the hardest part will be setting up levelled lists. If there are bunkers around, scavvers might be looking to score old world tech. Think of details on how people would survive in that area and build out from there. Do they farm food? How? Big hydroponics labs, or are they growing algae in fishtanks and breeding guinea pigs for protein? Do they survive on mutant flora and whatever they can salvage from 200 year old ration stockpiles? Do they trade? How do they get clean water? Work out shit like this and your little world will take shape pretty quickly and give you additional ideas for quests and shit.

I thought people living in subway system could use some artificial greenhouses to grow stuff there. Otherwise their communities wouldn't be too huge since the area would be highly dangerous to live in, but something was still valuable enough for them to stay there. Some pre-war relics, Brotherhood could be present as well.

Yeah there would be lot of ghouls, maybe they would be weaker but in bigger parties. I would probably think of a way to get them clean water. Before you get power armor you would need to use gas mask or respirator in some areas so you don't suffocate.

Supermutants could be there as well, but then again I don't want to go full Bethesda do shoehorn every Fallout enemy in areas where it doesn't make sense. There could be raider ganks as well having toxic related gank names etc. Basically make the gameplay on surface dangerous but rewarding, players could explore ruins which are almost untouched in 200 years because almost no one had technology or bravery to go there.

I also roleplay not being familiar with power armor, not suddenly becoming a firearms expert after thawing, and being reasonably afraid of stuff that would be new and weird, such as rad scorpions and super greens etc etc.

Also anti-chem, so I have yet to use pyscho or jet or buffout or medex or mentats etc a single time and I'm level 60 or so. Only radaway and food for healing basically.

~100 total carry weight is pretty hard to manage but it's realistic

My most fun playthrough so far by far. Played basically a stealth archer last time through which was good but easy.

There was a real schedule for the establishment of Vault City you know. Based on decay projections and estimations of relative safety. Chernobyl was a lot more toxic than a few atomic bombs. We're talking about a giant reactor filled with giant incandescent fuel rods pumping out endless amounts of poison every second vs. a few split-second energetic reactions where the most hazardous products decay away in a few moments. The Red Forest was green after a few years. Hiroshima and Nagasaki are thriving rebuilt cities. You cannot exterminate plantlife to the extent of the capital wasteland with nuclear bombs. Even if you could almost wipe it out, that would just leave more room for surviving plants to expand and overtake. And if even that couldn't happen, the food chain would be so devastated that you wouldn't have to worry about mutant animals because all of them would have starved.

I think someone watched Mad Max 2 too many times and didn't know that the Australian Outback was always a desert, not just after the bombs. Drop a few bombs on Antarctica and it'll be sand and tumbleweeds with those Lovecraftian penguins from Mountains of Madness. That's an idea.

The answer to all of your question is YES. If you want to know more, go study botany and realize how resilient plant life is. We have seeds in museums that's a couple of hundred years old and yet when they planted a few, they fucking grew. I just want them to fix the combat mechanics so they properly emulate the AP and probability based system of turn-based tactical combat. All decisions should be under the player's control, and all outcomes under the control of points and dicerolls. Selecting targets, using extra AP for bodypart shots, using extra AP for burst fire, hitting multiple targets with burst fire, hitting incorrect targets with critical fails, losing ammo from critical fails, getting knocked out... etc.

...And of course, getting ridiculous fails on all sides with the Jinxed trait. Sneak attack, critical fail, player falls over and loses all AP, enemy misses shot, ricochet hits another enemy in the hand, misses a shot, accidentally shoots another enemy in a grenade in his hand, grenade explodes, critical hit kills every enemy, critical fail misses player entirely.

Game play in Fallout 4 is good, that's the biggest improvement it had on the series.

First off, re-introduce the dialouge system from Fallout 3/NV, and make the Main Character a mute like before, with little to no backstory.
Fix the SPECIAL, you know the usually shit people complain about, and for good reason might I add.
For the love of Christ remove all the random loot, have it all pre-determined like every single previous game (except enemies, they can be random if you really fucking want them)
That's all for gameplay changes off the top of my head but for lore just un-fuck what Bethesda did.

Set the game somewhere on the East Coast, have the Minute Men winning and destroying the Brotherhood canon in Fallout 4, even though I adore the new Brotherhood, having them blatantly over powered is fucking idiotic to the point where they're mary sue's.

Show the Brotherhood doing what they do, genociding mutants, ferals and Raiders; also recruiting and getting food from the people within their borders. Have them more the same, possibly make them more religious over the loss of Maxson.

Explain that the T-60 power armor was designed by them POST WAR, say they got the Enclave machinery to create power armor, but they can't make any Enclave power armor, so they had to design their own.

Make the Minute Men semi-similar to NCR, but make them different in some way.

Introduce the Raiders of the Pitt, flesh them out as a faction and do NOT copy the Legion, try to be semi-original.

Than idk, make a good plot, throw some minor factions in there like the locals with a GOVERNMENT, show that people are banding together and slowly forming societys

New Vegas is pretty consistently good with its moral ambiguities but I'm having a hard time trying to justify siding with Daniel. It's spelled out absolutely clearly that there are Dead Horses and Sorrows, two tribes capable of sustaining themselves with zero bloodshed. Their opposition is the White Legs, literally incapable of peace because they are too primitive to produce anything, so they must resort to murder and theft.

If you agree with Graham and eradicate the White Legs, the two peaceful tribes can continue to prosper in Zion. If however you help Daniel evacuate the two tribes, the plunder-reliant White Legs will go extinct. It's exactly like starving a disease out of existence by denying it food.

For me this so-called binary choice of this DLC seems like a criticism of religion, because the only justification for the evacuation of Zion is an irrational adherence to an arbitrary rule against killing in self-defense, grounded in dogma. There is no choice. Whoever lives, the White Legs die.

/v/ is a bunch of edgelords ironically siding with them, but considering the theme of the game, their solution is realistic in the short term in a world of death and anarchy. They are not interested in the futile attempts to rebuild the old world in a wasteland that's incompatible with it, so they embrace what it is, and try to enforce what little peace there can be by any means necessary. Obey and be protected, or resist and die. It's no way to progress, but it's not regressive considering the circumstances. We will never know how the faction would be elaborated upon because of Bethesda cutting Arizona out of the final game, and I think that's a major contributing factor to why the legion is portrayed as such a bad faction.

Well, I did say it was no way to progress. The legion accepts the status quo, and one must decide for themselves whether tyranny is better than anarchy. The Arizona side of the river was originally supposed to have settlements that the Courier could visit, with efficient peace being enforced by legionnaires who demand obedience and tribute in exchange of stability. It's one step above raiders in the wild, but it's most likely the last stop at the end of the line.

Not that I think Caesar's endgame isn't flawed or that the Legion isn't despicable, there does have to be more behind the facade with the Legion. For them to sustain a faction for 30 years means it has to have more development than simply looting and enslaving, and the geographically large region they influence, requires some organization and stability.

I think in the long run, the Four Corners region was better off with the Legion, although I don't think it will politically last. It unified the tribes and settlements across the region in a way that sets the foundation for trade and cultural development that the disparate isolated tibals didn't have before, and probably wouldn't have gotten. Without the Legion, that area would just be picked apart piecemeal by larger factions from other areas; probably Mormons, California, and then any unifed Texas and Aztlan type of factions.

Need some advice anons. I've been doing a new playthrough of New Vegas. I'm going 100% BoS, bassically doing everything the brotherhood/Maxson would do, however, i'm not sure how to deal with the Boomers.

With their original mindset, they wouldn't be a problem. But with Maxson picking up the trend of recruiting outsiders (Which i'm assuming would massively influence the Western BoS considering people started to worship him over there) would the Mojave BoS Chapter ever need to wipe out the Boomers? I doubt they'd really prove a threat to the Brotherhood but i'm really not sure.

It's been 200 years anon, its safe to say 90% of it has been destroyed. In most places you'll find less than 10 items of food overall.
Even then this is rotting food and outside of game mechanics we can't be sure just how much of it is actually edible.

Also, this stuff isn't just lying around. Nearly every location either has mutated animals, ghoulsm super mutants or raiders occupying the place.

If there was such an abundace of resources why would people even farm in the first place? Why would they starve if you take some of their crop?

I think this has become less and less of a problem. For example New Vegas is very much based on the real world configuration of topography and infrastructure. Hills are exaggerated to gate the player. In the earlier games such barriers were limited to specific entry points to locations that otherwise would have allowed alternative approaches, for example the secret passage to Navarro. There's no reason why one couldn't just approach the base perimeter, but the story dictated that you must take the secret route.

The thing I've always missed in the BoS of the 3d Fallouts is what Tactics added. The Midwestern paladins had a cloth banner hanging from one of the pauldrons. I think it fits the zealous nature of the organization. I wouldn't be opposed to power armors having fancy capes either.

I use Arbitration, No More Teleporting Creatures, REST, and loads of weapons mods. if I let an enemy with a good gun get clear shots on me, I'll die in seconds, but I also only need a few (or even just 1, depending) well-placed shots to drop them. This makes even huge enemies (minus Mirelurk Queens) really fucking flimsy, unfortunately.

I like the walls. And I decided to keep the scruffy floor in the office and workshop areas. They fit the workshop, and contrast nicely with all the new stuff in the other areas.
I'll probably use a piece, or two, of vintage furniture in the living area for the same reason.
The walls also serve as a reminder that you are in an old baseball stadium.

I haven't noticed any sponge issues unless I'm shooting at something in heavy armor at low levels. Mirelurks, robots and raiders in full kit, especially if you're running mods, can be 'spongey' due to their damage resistance. Most of the time I'm blowing shit away with one shotgun blast, or a couple of bursts from a pipeshit auto. Even heavy armored raiders drop from one shot in stealth. The only reason I'm talking about shotguns and pipeshit is because the 10mm you get (and upgrade) at the start of the game rips through everything if you make it auto and I always run out of rounds for it.

The only time I had sponge issues in early game was plinking away at a raider boss (the one in the flooded quarry) at extreme range. That was probably more due to the damage drop off at range, the fact he was heavily armored and the fact I was using a random pipe rifle with a scope. There was also a Behemoth near Sunshine tidings I tried to plink at. I went through more than 200 .38 rounds and had to run away. I came back after a few levels, put some perks in commando and blew it away with a full drum from spray and pray. The only human enemies that gave me any trouble from that point on were named enemies, or gunners in PA.

I got curious, deactivated my all related mods, and tried it.

You can group select paintings off a wall. But you can not place paintings on paintings. So, make a collage on the wall, and then use your favorite group selector to move it where you want.

some anon posted a video of their Abernathy meat packing plant a while back. he built a gigantic barn. the floor was all conveyor belts that fed into those manufacturing extended auto-butchers. cages started at floor 6. lower floors were filled with rocket turrets. only things that survived the drop were the occasional deathclaw, scorpion or yao guai.

external defense is a big deal. filled cages attract creatures of the same type to your settlement. it's not an official attack, I think, they just tend to spawn in as you enter the settlement.

Welp.

After some 3ds tweaks and combining of shapes into a "minigun-like" fashion, I kinda like how my multi-scatter barrel for this weapon looks.

I was worried the most about this one looking bad on all the different receiever types I made, but it actually fits them nicely. Its not finished yet of course, but I like how its looking so far.

This will fire around 20 or 30 projectiles per shot, but it'll also be fairly inaccurate, basically a plasma minigun.

Also I don't particularly care for the old Plasma caster design, they've done an excellent job recreating it, sure, it just looked dated in 2010 and it still looks dated now. The whole point of mine was to put a more modern twist to it.

Thanks. I'm still trying to decide how the advanced flamer barrel should look like. I actually never really made any concept art of how I want it to look. you don't need to build a massive killbox that auto-harvests resources and puts them in your workshop. you can, but you don't need to. just put up a couple of raider traps to start, as jet is easier to come by than 500 caps per cage for gunners. elevate the cages, put a switch on them. put a few turrets around your settlement to draw fire in case of an attack, arm your settlers with weapons and armor you loot from victims, sell or break down the rest. it doesn't really matter. you really only make gunner farms to farm for legendary weapons. you're better off saving time and effort and just consoling in what you want, but maybe you want to avoid 'cheating' in a single player game.

use the money and resources to build your killbox over time. logic gates that turn traps on when the cages open, or just have your traps running off another switch. I'm fond of the radiation emitters. have all the cages open into an elevator shaft type pit with a pressure plate at the bottom. at a lower level, flamethrower traps are good, as are baseball throwers which you rig to launch molotovs and frag grenades you loot. mixing up raiders and gunners means they will fight each other if they are trapped in a box.

putting your cage inside a building or enclosed space is usually a good idea. I only made a gunner farm once before the novelty wore off. I do use cages to hunt dogs though. You mostly attract wild dogs, but you'll get guard dogs occasionally. Same deal with brahmin.

if you want to maximize your legendary farming, put a gallery in your killbox so you can fire at whoever your release. use the syringer ammo that spawns bloatflies on the raiders/gunners you release.

T-51 has really good look in Fallout 4 as well but for some reason I never liked this armor since first Fallout games, the helmet and entire power armor look like something miners would use during excavations.

Plasma beam. Basically flamer on steroids

It will do like 10 damage, RoF will be 125, super accurate and constantly doing damage when focused. Turbo receiver ups the RoF to 250. Overclocked ups RoF to 500. With heavy gunner, you will be doing 20 damage at 500 Rof at pin-point accuracy. Very, very little can survive that, but the plasma ammo consumed will be enormous. Something like 50 shots / sec. I might also include energy perks to increase the damage of this weapon.

Oh and this barrel is unique and can only be acquired after defeating Plas-Man, so you don't build it immediately and start slappin' shit. I thought about giving it to Plas-man himself but he'd probably immediately melt you with it. I am going to give Plas-man the nerd rage perk so once you get him to 19% health he might kick your ass.

I altered his backstory slightly too. He's ex-Institute, banished to the surface for being too batshit even for them and incredibly butthurt at Father for kicking him out and stopping the plasma weapon research. Father deems research into plasma weapons as too wasteful, and would open them up to retaliation if they just started melting everyone on the surface, and they don't have the necessary amount of nuclear materials to keep a constant supply of ammo for them, so they cancel the whole thing. Plas-man's got a terminal where he refers to Father as a "Little bitch" and "Gigantic dumbass" and he's going to take over the institute as soon as he builds his own teleporter to storm them and take the Institute for himself. The Institute is aware of him, realize they dun fucked up by letting him loose on the Commonwealth, but Plas-man built himself a jury rigged remote control device that he can aim at synths and control them, and now he's got an entire synth army all over Posiedon energy, where he made his roost. Him taking over the institute is pretty much bad news for the entire Commonwealth, so its best he be killed.

I think they tried too hard to justify the existence of the T-60 and the X-01, for the T-60 they should've just said that the Brotherhood made it and left it at that. And the X-01 they should've just made it an Institute power armor, they could literally just have said they stole some Enclave scientist or stole enclave plans to make it, instead of coming with some convoluted nuka cola bullshit to justify it's existence.

So if they make new power armors in the next game, and personally i wouldn't mind if they do, they shouldn't try hard to justify their existence.

I fucking hate this kid in the fridge thing.
Not because its silly.
Not because it rewrites previous games lore in MAJOR way.

I hate it because its all done for a cheap 5 minute quest.. Its not even some major, omg moment in game, some epic battle, reveal, complicated quest that takes you through the entire game map in some epic journey or some shit like that.
Its a fucking 5 minute misc quest with pitiful reward, zero effort required on part of the player and its just fucking terrible..

They thrown out major emotional points of previous games and make into a what amounts to a cheap punchline .

That is what makes my blood boil over kid in the fridge.

Oh and they didn't even had the nerve or consistency to make it a in game feature.

Fusion cores are also probably gameplay element, without cores you would have permanent PA in early game right in Concord... idk their decision was weird but gameplay wise it was great to jump into PA and just be unstoppable for a while.

FC are retarded attempt to mitigate giving a high end gear in the first 10 minutes of the game.
Like weapon durability in F3.
I simply use Power Core drain mod set on 1%.

I maxed that nuclear perk and I use Jetpack 24/7 and still didn't see my fusion cores drop below 99

I also maxed that ammo finding perk and since fusion cores can be used in gatling lazer, it's considered an ammo

Orks are basically built like Heavy weapons guy with huge heads

I'd love rigging Orks but rigging their mouths might be a little out of my expertise, I don't think that can be rigged without following that furry race guide...and I'd also need a model. Oh well, I'm sure someone else will do it anyway.

Funny, since the Elder Scrolls games do that. Since their XP is based on skill usage, and higher difficulties have more dangerous enemies, so you have to use more attack skills to defeat them, and the increased damage they do ends up leveling your defense skills faster.
