I don't have a problem with it being on the Switch.
I've bought a console exclusively for MH before and the price tag honestly isnt that much higher than 3DS was at its own shaky launch.

I'd also like to play NMH 3 and the new SMT project. Obviously, if they were developing the game for PS4, they would have no choice but to vastly increase their gramfix budget, and that would be nice. It would also have internet play that doesn't drop every third hunt. But Switch is pretty obviously right up MH's alley. They were already trying to do the console/handheld hybrid experience with 3U.

Each of the third gen games were pretty much the best online. Which is why the definitive third gen game should lead. Also P3rd is the most lightweight difficulty MH to be released, so 3U at least makes that aspect tolerable. That leaves the other good things about P3rd, like its unsullied graphics and nice platform(s). Which should not be quite enough to trump the best overall gameplay.

I've got full seltas gear and a level 3 seregios gunlance. My gear is fine for what I'm fighting, I'm just absolutely terrible at getting solid hits in during gaps in monster attacks. It's MUCH worse against things that like to dash through/past me, since I keep forgetting to use brave stance, which is the only realistic way of keeping up with them.

MHX translation had like 10 patches, I'd rather not download 2gb each time they update.

So the best thing to do is to use NTRselector until MHXX gets an update, because then the translation could be injected into a way smaller .cia (translation is less than 20mb for now)

Also setting up NTR if you already have CFW is easy as shit.

I have luma with emunand and I just:

1. use FBI QR to install NTRselector
2. Launch NTR selector from the menu so it creates folders, use default dir, it will give you an error because there is no plugins installed.
3. Launch FBI again and install the patcher using QR again
4. Launch the patcher from the menu so it downloads the files
5. From now on you can just launch cfw/emunand, launch NTRselector app, launch the game.

I bring a fight cat and a heal cat and I like that, but I haven't tried a beast cat instead of fight cat.

I make sure the heal cat has the antidote horn because that's way more useful than you'd think, and my cat is really quick to use it. Really nice for those times like when a random iodrome or remobra hits you. One also has poison pitfall which is handy. Those are the two skills I notice the most.
