Tharcia is not an easy game but it's a terrible strategy game by principle since you literally cannot fully beat the game without a guide and it encourages a massive amount of trial and error if you try to go blind. A shame since it has plenty of interesting ideas and mechanics.

And I wouldn't call it a terrible strategy game, more like mixed. Some of the chapters are horrible (mostly the Fog-of-War ones), but it also has some of the best maps in the whole series. I personally think chapter 17A is probably the best FE map of all time.

Am I playing Awakening wrong, /feg/? I'm at the level with the Chapter 16, I believe, and the entire strategy (as it has been for nearly 10 chapters now), has been defending my squishier units (read: not level 5 promoted) and hunkering down until the reinforcements stop their bullshit until I'm absolutely sure I can have Lucina take a step out into the open.

The Paralogue Maps for the children are obscenely hard for my current army's ability, at least Noire's, Cynthia's, and Morgan's are.

Should I just spend the next few days leveling via world map until my entire army is up to snuff or something? I don't have fun having MU and Best Girl curb stop entire maps.

If you do a chapter in any FE game and fail, change your strategy. Eventually finding a strategy that works isn't difficult, and it doesn't even require complete knowledge of the map, if something kills a unit, you start over, remember how and why the failure occured, and adapt.

Is adapting to situations really that foreign a concept to your average FE players? The only thing that should be out of the player's control is RNG for attack accuracy. There's no excuse for running into a map half cocked and forgetting the things that got you killed in your first 10 attempts, expecting it to not kill you the 11th time.

In Awakening I've always felt that if you were gonna want to use a unit you'd need to invest in them the moment you get them, you can't just give them one or two kills while being uncertain if you want to keep them, cause then they become dead weight pretty fast, for me at least.

Also Morgans map is pretty easy, I'm usually able to have her solo most of it but as a Wyvern Rider that would probably be a little harder.

Asvel didn't miss, he got a crit which normally would have killed any other boss in the franchise. But of course this is Thracia and instead of having Kempf just die like any other boss and then include a cutscene afterwards where he retreats for story purposes, the player is instead unable to kill him and of course isn't told this, meaning I had to restart this chapter 3 WHOLE TIMES because Kempf would just dodge everything and kill my units afterwards. It wasn't until my third attempt where this happened and I realized you couldn't actually kill him because every pro Fire Emblem player should just magically know these things ahead of time without looking up a guide. GREAT GAME HERE KAGA!
