Base game, the Woods. The Night phase is my favorite, and Shadow of Yharnam is one of my favorite fights. DLC, probably the Hunter's Nightmare. As for dungeons, Loran.
>spend a hour trying to find the lever in the dungeon floor
>marking everywhere with coins
>already cold empty because I killed everything
>walking around in those empty corridors is creeping the fuck out of me
>strange noises sometimes when I pass corridors, like someone being summoned
>dungeon already full of coins
>almost giving it to madness
>finally find it
>it was in a room I passed a billion times

Cainhurst. I wish I could live in a huge castle on some frozen winter mountain. I just wonder where the heat would come from. I fucking hate Logarius though.

Lower Pthumeru's layer 2 lever guardian. From the lamp, drop down, run past the lantern-wielding Pthumerian into the tunnel (watch out for the goop on the ceiling and the rat), go up the ladder, across the bridge, and straight through the door. Lumpy is the Watcher at the lever.

Yeah, but good luck trying to talk about BB on /dsg/. It's easier that we're here, trust me.
>>171715065
Request?
>>171715171
Just wanted a cute oc of the doll. Understandable that the guy didn't do it. The one in the OP he drew must have taken a while.
>>171715147
That's fair. I was just looking for /dsg/ cuz I'm tryina get a coop party going in DS3
>>171715140
I don't remember where it is but I'm 100% sure you can make a run for it, just look up exactly where it is.
A tip I can give is if you hug left the fireball won't hit you.
>>171715278
What was it?
>>171715140
Beast Cutter is really easy to get to, assuming you know where it is already. Just make a run for it and roll wildly.
>>171715334
Oh I didn't have any source for him to draw from, I literally just said "draw a cute pic of the doll." Maybe that was the problem kek.
>>171715498
It just shows lack of interest. You don't really want it, you just wanted a picture anything is fine, so no matter how much effort went into it, you wouldn't appreciate it because you didn't want anything in the first place.
>>171716336
Damn...
No but seriously I think you hit the nail on the head. He asked for requests and that's the drawing I would want most, but I was mostly just humoring him.But come on, how could I not appreciate a cute doll drawing?
>>171716336
Not him, but could someone do an edit of this one? Maybe Gehrman pestering the Doll/Maria?
>>171715464
I'm a dumbass I meant the whirlig saw
>it's almost 10 pm
>i'm drunk as fuck
>and watching existential Garfield comic strip analyses
>>171716594
Drawing is not something easy, takes a lot of hours, effort, inspiration, not to mention the training and knowledge necessary to reach that point, days and days of practice with no guarantee that you'll ever get better. Hell, most people don't ever get better because of mental blocks, stress, work but mostly motivation, because drawing is an ungrateful work, it takes an unproportional amount of effort compared to its pay, and even if you spend hours and hours on a single drawing putting your blood on it, it can turn out a complete mess that no one will ever be able to appreciate and will just serve to shame you when you look back at it.
>>171716935
It's pretty much the same thing
Towards the end of the level you'll find a ladder with an Old Hunter and many crows near it.
Make sure you lure the Old Hunter far from the ladder before proceeding or else he'll shoot you down.
>>171717094
Also this doesn't apply just to drawing. It applies to most types of art that isn't abstract (garbage), like music.

>>171720770
I would imagine we bully her as much as some of the first hunters did.
>Endures taunts about sleeping with Gehrman
>Avoided due to her relation to Annalise
>Wakes up to find the Rakuyo replaced with wooden sticks
>Favorite target for pebble-throwing
>Constantly told how much she's copying Gehrman with Skill-based fighting
We could be here all night thinking of ways the old hunters bullied her.
Somebody posted this playlist last thread. Has anybody here managed to pull of this TOR skip?

I can jump the ledge and reach the area below in that top-down camera, but it's almost impossible to properly control afterwards.
>>171721156
Yes
>>171721417
Different skip. I'm talking about the one in the video
>>171721156
I'm surprised that no layer skips have been found for the main chalice dungeons.
>>171721560
I meant yes, i've done it, its very possible, it just takes some time getting used to the weird controls
>>171721417

This one is kinda pointless though, isn't it? You just end up outside the Advent Plaza.
This helmet looks pretty cool with the Executioner's Robe.

For real though yall, I fucking love the Gerhman fight. It is one of the most genuine skill based fights in the whole series in my opinion, and it makes my balls feel big that I beat him on my 3rd try on my first playthrough. I like it way better than Moon Presence.
>>171721836
That helmet, the Ardeo and the White Church hood are the only pieces of headwear that look good with the Executioner's garb

How can executioners even hope to compete?
>>171722041
Blus I love the opening cutscene, how he seems genuinely upset that you wont go to rest quietly, but at the same time he is excited to test his mettle again. Great fucking voice acting work there. I will never forget the time he had 1% hp, did his huge stinger attack, bursting through one of the destructible wooden crucifixes, and at the last second I parried him and got the Viceral for the finishing blow. I felt like a fucking god. It is honestly one of my top 5 bosses in the whole souls series.
>>171722271
They would, I've done it before. Fall damage is percentage based off of your max health so just make sure you're at full health before falling if you're worried.
>>171722419

She sent him all the way down to Pthumeru
Finally decided to get a PS4 since a local video game business thing is selling them with 2 free games of your choice for $280.
What other game should I get? I watched some nioh but it wasn't that interesting and I watched some horizon zero dawn and it looked kind of generic gameplay wise.
>>171722421
Gehrman's decision to put your own suffering to an end over his is what got me the most, especially after hearing him crying in his sleep, begging to be released.
It made killing him feel so good.
>>171722973
That depends on your taste
Personally I like Gravity Rush games, Yakuza, Siren, Odin Sphere Leifthrasir and Nier Automata
>>171722973
Jesus nice fuckin deal m8
I'd recommend Doom, maybe, it's really good fun but it takes up an absolute shitload of memory and there's no singleplayer DLC, just multiplayers stuff, but there's some good SnapMap community stuff if you wade through it. Or could get For Honor, which despite its faults, can be very fun. You could main Peacekeeper and be the bane of my fucking life. There's also DMC4 Special Edition, also people seem to really enjoy Nier: Automata, but I've been told you need to have played or seen a comprehensive LP of the first Nier beforehand.
>>171722973
>>171723243
I second Gravity Rush. There's also a good selection of fighting games like Guilty Gear if you're into those. There's also a PS4 general thread that you could look into for recommendations.
>>171723547

I FUCKING DID IT. I KILLED LUDWIG. FUCK THAT MOTHERFUCKER.
I did it /bbg/. I killed Ludwig solo. Only took about 25 tries and almost depleted my entire stash of QS bullets, but I did it.
Suck my balls you multi-same limbed freak. You and your moonlight GS you pile of garbage.
>>171729086
>>171729086
Congratulations, anon, you fucking did it. You are an inspiration, one day I'll do OoK solo without overleveling.
>>171730039
is level 80 considered overleveling? I'm a pure strength build. Did the entire fight with muh cannon and hunter's Axe. The amount of rally behind the Axe's hits is ridiculous. I'd take a single hit while closing the gap and get 3 strikes in while Ludwig was still combo-ing. My HP would be back at full.although I did use all 3 runes to increase how many blood vials I can carry so I had 29 on me
howdy. i hope everyones doing alright, im about to pull an all nighter for university and figured id post some question seeing as ill be by the computer all night to respond. similarly, i may take some chalice breaks to cool my mind off. anyways
>im doing first arcane build
i heard not to level past 98 for PvP reasons, thoughts?
>is 70 ARC enough?
as it is if i pump everything i have into ARC until 98 my ARC will be at 73, is this a waste?
>Best Arcane Weapon in your opinion (plz support opinion)
and lastly will someone explain to me how to transform a weapon? like make it scale off of something else with gems?
>what gems do i want, where do i get them? how do i know theyre the right ones?
>>171730213
80 is fine, don't worry, it's basically the level you finish the game.
Overlevel is if you do all chaliches and the Queen before the DLC which resulted in BL 150 for me, for example
>>171729086
Congrats, Ludwig was a bitch first time around, but everything else onward wasn't too badalthough Maria did kinda fuck me up a bit

>>171730450
Yeah 98 is mainly for PvP, but most of us cap around 98-117 with 120 being the limit for our FCs. 70 Arc is enough, scaling for Tools is actually better past that so some say don't bother unless you're going 99 Arc but that means going over 98 (unless your Vit is sub 20, don't do this) so 70 is fine since you can still manage to get at least 40 Vit.
There aren't really any "best" Arcane weapons since you just convert anything purely Physical if you have the stats and Parasite. Stuff like Wheel and HMS will require at least 25/12 Str/Skl to be usable on an Arc build. Gems can convert Pure Physical weapons to fire/bolt/arcane, so if it's split then you can't convert it. If you want effectiveness, I guess a Fire Saw Cleaver/Spear will be the best. 11 Skill opens up Saif which makes for a popular Bolt weapon. Check the OP for the Arc 101 guide and eventually gem setups once you hit FRC, you'll want to spend a lot of time in CD's as an Arc build.

im in the chalices plenty already. please share any more knowledge!

Iron door key opens a door you find when you take the first left from when you first enter the arena.
>>171738508
Fight Club, we have fight clubs every Saturday. The meta for it is 80-120. 98s can invade 80-148, which is partly why it exists since it avoids Reddit 150s and still able to invade 80s which was an abandoned meta. Oh and only 117s can invade 98s, 120s can't but you can still invade 120s. There's a calculator in the OP you could use to find your level ranges, also a guide for Chalice Dungeons. Clear out every room in every dungeon you make and you won't ever be a material short as long as you pick up the ones in the main game as well. If you don't have enough mats for a new Chalice, you either have to create a different Chalice to get them or you missed some from an earlier dungeon.

Did the PVP or the game itself got revived thanks to that even earlier this month? I never got to try the PVP when I played the game back then
The bad thing is that I should make a brand new character since as far I know theres no way to respec your stats unlike DS3

>>171743073
25/50 for revving, 50/25 for Blunt smashing (or just 50/10).
>>171743137
Which gems are easiest to farm? Blunt or (I guess) nourishing?

>>171743053
could do some FRC's later on if you're around, send me a message on PS if you want to so i know for sure who it is
>>171743187
Blunts are from Watchers, relatively easy boss(es) but the drop rate is pretty low. Gargoyles/Rom for Radials, former being much easier. Then Amy for Triangles/Waning, can be hard if you don't jump cheese or spam Tools. 25/50 has the luxury of using a Fire Stake to 3-shot Amy with Oil Urns.
apart from things having more health etc, why dont people go into NG+ usually?
>>171743252
Do you have to have those chalices open and beaten on your character to join FRCs? Just came back from a long break and deleted all my characters starting fresh so havent done em yet.

Cruel Fate: 40/12/10/9/5/50. After that, either choose Pure Arc by pumping Arc to 70 or Str/Arc by pumping Str/Skl to 25/12. You'll have left over points you can put anywhere like Vit, End, or Str/Skl to meet requirements. For Pure Arc you can fit 11 Skill for Saif, or 12 Str for Toni. Former is funner imo.

>>171751071
I usually kill the one throwing fireballs first since he's annoying, doesn't really matter which order you kill them. Better to beat em one by one, the last one will dodge to the side over and over after getting hit so it's kinda cheesy.
>>171750713
True, although she has a bit of a fivehead.
Weird how Annalise's face appears in the artbook despite the fact that it's never shown in the game, whereas faces of other human characters like Micolash or Iosefka don't have concept art. The artist most likely left them to the programmers' discretion.
Nice https://twitter.com/kizdollark/status/843843647233646592
>>171751071
Going for the mage first will make your life easier. Killing the other two shadows while he throws fire at you is very annoying, and he's pretty weak when you get close so killing him while the other two are alive shouldn't be a problem.
I find the one with the regular sword (not fire) the most dangerous, so I always keep him last.

For my first run (don't care about pvp) through BB, how viable is a 25/25/25 skill/str/arcane build? I read the pastebin and it goes that's the softcap for all 3 with another one after. I'm assuming it's like 40/60 softcaps in souls?
>>171762461
The softcaps are 25/50. The build isn't too terrible, first characters tend to be unoptimized so you can try out all the weapons. If you go 50/25/25 you could have a pretty good HMLS build
>>171762461
It's fun to be so flexible with equipment, but you'll need to twink/gem your shit to get similar damage to dedicated builds.
t. playing a 30/30/30/15 build
>>171762461
No, softcaps are 25 and 50 for weapons. The build is okay for PvE, but the only thing that'll really get the most of it is Holy Moonlight Sword. You should either get Str or Arc to 50, it's common to go 25/25/50 or 50/25/25 for HMS and other stuff.
>>171762461
you don't really need that much arcane. thats not enough arcane for any of the non-gimmick hunter tools to do useful damage. I'd go with a str/skill quality build. also invest in endurance if you're not going to do PVP. people who do PVP usually don't level end past 15, having high end makes the PVE more enjoyable as you can dish out combos like nobodies business and not have to manage your stamina bar.
>>171763119
25 is enough to make Executioner's Gloves and Blacksky Eye decent
>>171762624
>>171762667
>>171762759
>>171763119
Thanks for the responses. Having looked at all the weapons and their movesets, there's only 3 that I definitely want to use which are the:
Saw Cleaver (C/D/C)
Holy Moonlight Sword (B/C/A)
Ludwig's Holy Blade (B/B/A)
I figured with scaling like that I'd be better off going 25/25/25 rather than my original idea of just getting to 50/50 for Str/Skl.
So I should go Str and Arcane then instead?
>>171763750
Those weapons are perfectly fine with a 50/25/25 build if you don't mind going that high of a level.
>>171763813
I'm looking to do all the story stuff and chalice dungeon stuff on my first build, so I wasn't thinking of a level cap per se, just what level I end up naturally through playing. For example, with Dark Souls 3 exploring everything got me around sl 80.
>Amygdalan Arm and Beast Claw count as Church weapons judging by the Storage menu
Interesting, I understand Amy Arm since amygdalas are venerated as gods/divine messangers by the Healing Church judging by all those statues and Patches' dialogue, but why Beast Claw? I thought Izzy was a heretic.
>>171763750
The thing about the Arcane scaling on Pure Phys weapons like SC and LHB is its not used until you slot a fire/arcane/bolt gem. So those weapons will only scale with 25/25 Str/Skl until you do so. Then when you do, it'll only scale with Arcane. HMS scales with all 3 since it's a split weapon that deals Phys and Arc dage at the same time. Str is better for the blade and let's you use Phys gems, Arc is better for the beams and will require Nourishings while there aren't many good ones till FRC. If you don't mind Chalice Dungeon farming and love the beams with fire/bolt/arcane weapons, go Arc. Str will be easier and you can still use Nourishings for the beams.
>>171764320
Ah that changes things slightly. I think I'll just get to 25 str in that case and then see from there. I'll most probably end up going 50/25/25.
>>171764301
They're not in the church section, they're in "other"
>>171764815

in the other category. I guess the game categorizes it as other since its also arianna's dress so they put it in other along with her shoes to keep them together, but you find the dress in cainhurst and the description says its a cainhurst dress. it just a minor detail but it triggers my autism.

I could have sworn it was only your Skill that determines visceral damage, but I feel like I'm wrong. I think weapon damage is taken into account, too, but I might be making that up.
Some else answer and tell me if I'm wrong pls
>>171770084
>>171771658
Skill increases visc damage, the damage type of them is Thrust. So Phys and Thrust gems increase the damage. Since Thrust gems go higher than normal Phys (27.2% vs 32.6%), it's usually better to slot Thrust gems. Tricked Cane also increases Skill scaling to both the weapon and your viscerals, so it's the best weapon to hold while doing it. Heavies also give them Strength scaling.

This doesn't really refute the fact that Mensis was part of the Healing Church. I mean, absolutely literally everyone but us ends up dead or a beast, it doesn't really matter. >Prove me wrong
Blood-powered swords are a lame, stale trope, their signature katana is one of the least original weapons in the game, it's only saving grace is that bloodtinge weapons are limited as fuck.
Annalise is a pretty bland character, hides her (probably ugly) face and for some reason is wearing a nightgown instead of some majestic pompous dress that I'm sure Cainhurst wardrobes are full of.
She also factually friendzones you, and you might or might not be collecting some corrupted sperm for her to gurgle on, depending on your interpretation of the blood dregs icon.
Their connection to Hemwick is weird/too vague and doesn't have a coherent explanation. The chariot to Cainhurst could appear almost anywhere in the game aside from nightmare areas and it'd still work pretty much the same.
>meanwhile, the church weenies
Are using possessed breaking wheels, a weapon you've hardly ever seen in any kind of medium save for maybe that one executioner guy following Mozgus in Berserk. Their other weapons include transformer swords, werewolf mittens and mi-go hands.
Wear pajamas with a gilded traffic cone.
Their members are one of the most vicious bosses in the game, while vilebloods are limited to one NPC and a couple of mobs of which only bloodlickers pose an actual threat.
Play a major part in the game by being both allies and (for the most part) foes while vilebloods are irrelevant literally whos from a single optional area.
>>171781419
Their own thing was, like the Choir, the continuation of Byrgenwerth's ideals of experimentation into human ascension only the Church was blood-based while Willem quietly Insighted himself into a mushroom. Everyone's goal was Byrgenwerth's goal - ascend humanity, and the Church with its many bodies of organization, was looking into it in all the worst ways possible. Mensis' memery with melting people down into whatever One Reborn was supposed to be and beckoning MP with Mergo was their deal. Choir had Ebby and Celestial Emissaries to communicate through. The main church body doled blood out to people as medicine and experimentation.
And the church brought about its own demise. Its memebers would go feral and become Cleric Beasts. Nights of the Hunt consisted of rounding up militias of villagers to kill beasts. The church didn't really have a good plan for a anything it did. Let's keep doling out the beast blood to continue our problem and kill our own test subjects. It was absolutely doomed from the start the way they handled their operation, Mensis was off in its own nonsense, they didn't plan the downfall of the Church.
I never said Mensis was ran by one guy, but by the end, Micolash is literally all that's left. Everyone else is a mummy.
Mensis absolutely did, but we know Mensis and the Choir were rivals. This was also their endgame, this is the end of the ritual in a city falling apart, they took what wanted because hey, ascension is near. I just don't believe that was regular activity, but neither of us has a way to prove that. I personally feel like it would be a bad idea in a Yharnam that wasn't falling apart because you don't want the main body of the Church to think you're a threat and have the Asscone Brigade come knocking like they did another threat.
>>171782568
People who injected blood only turn into beasts when the moon is close. Mensis members inherited all the knowledge of Willem so they knew that but they still decided to beckon the moon despite the fact that it would have killed everyone in Yharnam and disrupted the church.
>by the end, Micolash is literally all that's left
They still have hunters and pthumerians. I'm also not sure if the other scholars are actually dead because of the chanting you can hear in the advent plaza before the ritual is uncovered. They could very well be ghosts like the gatekeeper in the forbidden woods.
The fact that Mensis and the Choir were rivals also proves that Mensis betrayed the church.
>every boss so far has been a first/second/third try cakewalk aside from Amelia (I died around 14 times) and my first encounter with hotdog (10 deaths)
>mfw abhorrent beasts
>mfw he reads my inputs and punishes them before I even finish the recovery animation
This is gonna be painful but he's otherwise pretty fun.
>>171783126
>People who injected blood only turn into beasts when the moon is close
People turn regardless. A few people every few months. Nothing spectacular. The Church Pick talks about 'old beast hunting tales' which implies that this is in the folklore, and would also account for such relaxed talk out of everyone about beasts this and night of the hunt that. Pretty sure Dweller even says this time it's different. When the moon is close, it goes to apocalypse levels, this happened once before in Old Yharnam (the note by the Charred Hunter set proves this). Mensis and the Choir are both Byrgenwerth 2.0, they're like the Church's active research wings while the rest of the Church is just that, a Church. You've also got to remember the Healing Church is buttfuck stupid because they continue to experiment with blood at all due to Laurence's belief that it was good for humanity. So, no, they're not betraying the Church (there's also no evidence not to say Mensis and Choir don't actually run the whole damn thing) precisely because this beckoning of the moon happened before. Only this time they want to be successful.
Well, Mensis as Pthumerians they dredged up for use, like the rest of the Church does. Kidnappers, Church Officials (cane guys, don't know their proper name) and Giants are all Pthumerian, they're labour. They have hunters, yes, that's true, but they're also just human kidnappers. I imagine it's more militia gathering since they're in rags and shit.
The chanting is pretty weird, I feel that's probably actual people, but they probably vanish. Or they could be some time/space weirdness, honestly don't know.
But Choir and Mensis being rivals doesn't necessarily mean betrayal, considering they might run it, I mean, there's plenty of inter-organization conflict in the real world and that's not grounds for breaking off from the body.

>>171787314
I believe that people only become beasts when the moon is close, and therefore the night of the hunt begins. Those who transform never go back to normal, and as we've seen in Old Yharnam some beasts survive the hunt. The chapel dweller says it's different because the moon has never been so close before, which is why everyone in the city goes mad and dies.
The Choir never betrayed the church, but I still believe that Mensis did because they kidnapped church members for their ritual. Their plan to ascend also didn't include the rest of the church, just Mensis.
You're right about Yahar'gul hunters and pthumerian, I wouldn't say that they really count as members of the school of Mensis.
All the scholars are dead in the waking world, Micolash included, but they might still exist in the nightmare in some form.
>>171788537
Like >>171789070 said, it was Laurence and his associates, back then they were Byrgenwerth. Honestly, Old Yharnam is probably fairly important to the split between Laurence and Willem.

Here, let's post comics
>>171790182I really don't know how to feel about Edgar grinning like that. What's his backstory, why is he in Mensis?
>>171790283
The official guidebook says he's a spy from the Choir.
The Rosmarinus he's wielding also implies that.
The names written in the official guide could also be EpicNameBro's headcanon though.
Is it even possible to get to the area in Mergo's Loft with the weird Frenzy causing things above the giant brain? I grabbed to Blood Rock and the Choir Bell but I'm stumped by the thing even after running back and forth Mergo's Lost for 3 hours on two separate characters and not finding a way there. Also, what's the deal with the lift to the darkness in the area where there are a lot of those annoying child-looking creatures?
>>171789648
But the moon only comes close when someone beckons it in a ritual, this has happened canonically twice and has resulted, first time in an entire section of a city being burned and abandoned and the second time, another section being completely annihilated. Blood causes people to turn, but the moon makes it worse because of whatever link the moon/moon presence has with it all. I mean, for it to make it into the folklore and seem to be a fairly normal occurrence that people just lock up party, then the moon might be out, but there's no ritual.
Keep in mind you can send Adella to the fake Iosefka, a Choir member making Celestial Emissaries out of people. The higher echelons of the Church are really not above using their underlings or rival for experiments, or the general populace for that matter. They are, after all, a blood-worshiping theocracy built on alien knowledge. As for only Mensis ascending? I dunno about that. The plan was to beckon the moon with Mergo, what they'd actually do after that? Did they know? Did Micolash, who seems to be the only non-monster in the entire Nightmare of Mensis (except for that fuck Edgar on the bridge) know what to do? He wanted eyes, but so did Byrgenwerth, and they're supposed to be carrying it all on. Maybe it was only for Mensis, but honestly we can't really say. They are sort of the villains of the story, so I'll give you that for sure.

I'm forever saddened that he didn't ever do the Old Hunters on camera. And now that Nioh is out, he's been increasingly been throwing Soulsborne in the crapper to the point where he doesn't even want to play the ds3 dlc anymore. Right after you go up the longer, curved staircase from the Middle lamp, turn left, to where the shortcut elevator to the Wet Nurse is. There should be a cage elevator with a switch there. The elevator's door is warped, curved outward, and will not close when activating it. Facing forward, you should pass a large window on your way down. Roll into there. However, you'll want to roll in on your way up the elevator, it'll make your life much easier.

> Church Servents and Giants are Pthumerian
I don't think they are, none of them are seen in Chalice Dungeons and they lack the elemental weaknesses shared by Pthumerians. The gigantism found in church people is just effects of Blood ministration, same with Hunter's Minion's (brick trolls).

Collecting Echoes in Central Yharnam has a very low yield and instead you should go to Hemwick with a bunch of BHMs, warp to Witch's Abode, kill the 3 axe trolls and the brick troll and BHM back, repeat 7 times ,warp back to the Dream , buy BHMs and you should have a shitton of Echoes left too.

Church Servants, maybe, but Giants are for sure Pthumerian in origin. I mean, they're Undead Giants, even sewn together and all. The nasty boys down in the Labyrinths have tumors and old attached weaponry, they're just down there, originals, the Church ones are likely custom made, or modified.
>>171800693
>none of them are seen in Chalice Dungeons
Because they were equipped with church induments and weapons. It wouldn't make sense for them to roam around in the dungeons wearing the holy shawl of the church.
Church Giants are also weak to elemental damage.
The brick guys are clearly undergoing the beast transformation, as they have fangs, bandages and patches of fur.

The children of the Great Ones are "destined" to die, whatever that means. So either Arianna's child is going to die soon after it's born regardless because it's a horrid hybrid abomination, or you will always kill it because "destiny."
The reason why Orphan and Mergo are still around is because their consciousness' got trapped in their respective nightmares after they were presumably stillborn.

Ludwig's scales identically in STR and SKL, I'd do SKL first because it also boosts your visceral attacks. STR doesn't. Leveling either past 50 is basically useless.
20 END is enough, don't level it anymore unless you don't care about stopping at a certain level. 50 VIT is the softcap, and where most people aim to stop.

I'm bl43 and as far as I'm concerned; just about everywhere. The woods, cainhurst and frontier are good since a lot of people are naturally there to progress at that bl but with the amount of twink builds about you almost get a more consistent flow of invades in Nightmare of Mensis over the Frontier of late.
Just try all over the shop, I still get a few out front of the Grand Cathedral as well as Hemwick.
It's more or less unanimous thatHMPHis one of the worst, if not the worst, boss in the dungeons. So what's the runner-up? What boss is as irritating, something on equal footing?
My vote would probably be for dual scythe Undead Giant, especially the ball-and-chain variants.

Man I love the little details that go into armor sets, low how the tentacle seems to pulse or breathe, and how it hangs behind the wearer in the same way the holy shawl used to on church hunter gear. I like that implication that it shows that the madmens' "god" was replaced when they discovered the truth of things. Alongside that, the noose around their neck implies that they had tired to hang themselves or were hung by other members of the church at some point. Really it's great stuff.

Micolash also shares his VA with Willem in the flashback sequence. What Willem says in that scene is definitely one of the most iconic quotes in the game.

Go past the church and you'll find the lower part of the town. There you'll find a shortcut and a boss that drops an essential item.
As for the cleaver, if you like it keep upgrading it, if you'd rather try something else look for hunter badges and buy new weapons in the Hunter's Dream shop. All the weapons are viable.

>Micolash also shares his VA with Willem in the flashback sequence
Oh shit I never knew this, I can kind of hear it now. And I'm guessing the two different VAs might be for the cutscene and in-game.
Can someone help me with Laurence on NG? I realized my arcane-fire build is terrible for this and the points that I have in a physical stat aren't nearly enough to properly combat this guy.

>>171869961

>>171869469
Yeah I discovered how much of a limited moveset she has if you hug her butt on my own the first time I've faced her, but I can never pinpoint reliably at what angle she's going to land. Honestly baiting out the stomps felt easier until she just does her regular flailing attack but with a little turn.
>>171870408
The best way to do it is to stay aligned with the end of Amy's tail. If you do it right and get into position, you'll be able to throw out a fully charged R2 on Amy's head as soon it lands.
Another anon a couple of days ago pointed out that you can attack Amy's glowing arm in the first phase. Might take a bit longer, but it's another safe method. Especially useful with other people as well, because Amy leaping around during co-op is an easy way to get killed if you mistime the dodge or have no clue who has the aggro. It turns into a mess pretty quickly.

>>171874743

>>171875215

>>171876171
Assassins?
>>171876171
You mean the witches? She aint slitting your throatshe's trying to cut out your eyes. Take a closer look at the pebbles she drops.
>>171876262
I mean those weird little fags who are in Yahar'gul if you get kidnapped there but aren't if you go there normally. There's another one of those guys near Ludwig's bossroom which I found out because I put my controller down to take a sippy of drink and I got killed.
>>171876554
>cut
Look again, she's scooping them out
>>171876719
Those are old hags who collect eyes.
Anyway Yahar'gul is always very scary in the first playthrough if you end up here by accident.
Back then the kidnappers with the sack seemed like incredibly powerful and scary enemies. I actually miss the time when they were threatening, once you learn how to play they become extremely easy even in cursed dungeons.
>>171876554
So the pebbles are actually eyes?
>>171877649
Huh. I guess they're collecting the eyes so Micolash can put them all over his apartment?
>>171878269
The eyes are for the Mensis ritual, all the bell maidens and other pthumerians are collecting body parts to make the one reborn and other abominations
>>171878371
I see.
Did the school of Mensis also beckon the moon?
>>171879014
Yes, they're behind all the shit that happened during the current hunt
>>171878269
>So the pebbles are actually eyes?
Calcified or something, but they're eyes, yeah. Notice that crows also drop them, and the first thing a crow goes for on a corpse? The eyes.
>>171879082
Did anyone care about Micolash before he put on the cage?
But in the lecture hall we see a note that says "the nameless moon presence beckoned by Laurence and his associates" . So Laurence and Healing Church were involved too. Or was this a prior hunt?
>>171879419
>Did anyone care about Micolash before he put on the cage?
Yes, Mensis was one of the most important divisions of the Church.
>Or was this a prior hunt?
It was the hunt that destroyed Old Yharnam. Laurence died before the Church became authority in Yharnam.
>>171879419
Lecture Hall is Burgertown's, all the stuff in there is ancient.
In Old Yharnam, near the Charred Hunter set, there's a note that says 'the red moon hangs low'. Larry and his buddies called it down before and it wiped out Old Yharnam. Now the lunatics over in Mensis are gonna do it again because hurr we have cages and muh spirit of Byrgenwerth lives on.
>>171879520
>>171879581
So I take it that Old Hunters was about the hunt that destroyed Old Yharnam, or something that went on between that hunt and the base game?
>>171880462
The Old Hunters isn't based in the waking world, but it features all the characters that partook in the Fishing Hamlet massacre and the hunt of Old Yharnam, like Ludwig and Laurence.
They all ended up in the nightmare as punishment for what they did in the Hamlet.
>>171880462
Old Hunters is about the Fishing Hamlet massacre that Byrgenwerth perpetrated. The Old Yharnam incident when Laurence and co. called down the moon, it's very hard to place when in the timeline that happened. Spans of time in Bloodborne are really weird.
>>171880796
>Spans of time in Bloodborne are really weird
>Pthumerians acquired forbidden knowledge, made the first child of blood
>Pthumeru fell
>Yharnam rised from the ashes of Pthumeru
>Byrgenwerth studied their catacombs and found blood and insight
>Fishing Hamlet happened
>Laurence, Willem and Gehrman used the umbilical cord of Kos to beckon the moon
>Laurence left Byrgenwerth and founded the Healing Church
>the blood spread by the Church let to the burning of Old Yharnam
>>171880754
>>171880796
Fucking imagine an anime of Bloodborne that would go deeper in the politics behind the shit that's happening... Man oh man.

>>171881297
Pass?
>>171881332
bbg my bad
>>171881247
I mean the spans of time between those events. Also, Old Yharnam was caused by Larry and his friends beckoning the moon, no?
Why is the nightmare of mensis still there after killing micolash?
>>171882186
>Old Yharnam was caused by Larry and his friends beckoning the moon, no?
Yes, there is one part that I got wrong.
>Laurence left Byrgenwerth and founded the Healing Church
>the blood spread by the Church let to the burning of Old Yharnam
It actually makes more sense to assume that the Church was founded before Old Yharnam was burned.
As for the spans of time it's never explicitly clarified, but judging by how old Willem and Gehrman are and by how huge and prominent the structures of the Church are I'd say it's around 90 years.
>>171882476
The host only shapes the Nightmare at its conception, he doesn't keep it together all the time.
The same is true for Gehrman, killing him doesn't disrupt the Hunter's Dream.
Thanks Segalt would you like to playthrough the fishing hamlet with me? If so I'm ringing
>>171881247
So are the messengers the children of pthumerians and ayylmaos?
>>171883325
I believe messengers are emissaries of the Moon Presence sent to guide hunters and let them interact with each other.
In this official artwork you can see them embracing the MP in its unused form.
>>171883325
Also in this artwork: >>171883638 you can see a veil behind the MP, and the messengers are all around it.
The Creation of Adam analogy would be even clearer if MP's design wasn't altered ingame.

I want to do some pvp now, can i make a STR build out of this? I heard most people stay at SL 98, so i'm unsure where to put my next points into
>>171882476
The nightmare can exist without micolash, he isn't the host in the sense that without him the nightmare would cease to exist
In japanese his name translates more into "master" of the nightmare, rather than host
al teast this is what epicnamebro said
>>171885820
Yeah you can make a 98 Strength build out of it. You've got points wasted in End and Blt though, but you should still be able to get at least 40 Vit. 40/23/50/13/9/10 puts you at 95, 13 Skill is for Wheel and Cannon.
>>171886729
than you very much anon
Can i use the wheel as a pure STR weapon? Since it also scales with arcane and does arcane damage when transformed
>>171887214
Yeah you can, either full Blunts for untricked mode or Flat Arc for tricked mode. You can't really fuck up a Wheel build as long as you have even just the base stats to wield it. Also 12 Skill let's you use Whirly which is pretty great.
>>171887214
>Can i use the wheel as a pure STR weapon?
The wheel is a pure str weapon in untricked mode and str/arc in tricked mode
