The -30% affinity ruins Massacre Diablos weapons and makes them barely better than Atlal Ka weapons in terms of raw while lacking slots or natural sharpness. They do really absurd damage once you add Hatred Critical, but it's impossible to make a set with Hatred Crit, Sharpness+2 and other good damage skills and you'd actually get more damage out of the cookie cutter memeset with an Atlal Ka weapon.

Press B while stationary and you evade upwards. Do it while moving and you evade in that direction. Hold B while stationary and you swim upwards. Hold B while stationary and press down on the stick and you swim downwards.
The only thing you should be attempting to evade with is an evade, not a swim command. You can swim just as effectively with the camera and that doesn't put you in a long animation.
In short, get good and stop your whining.

The code's not the problem, the problem is the density of actions and the completely different control scheme vs playing on land.

If you use a weapon that plays well underwater, like Lance, Gunlance or Bowgun, it's not nearly as big an issue.

Also, tips for Gobul specifically: he's not the most agile monster. When you're underwater, stay at his sides/toward his tail, and if possible, underneath him. It really limits what he can do to you.

well i feel that the code is shit since it wont let me use 2 dodges in a row since it get turned into an upwards swim and when you want to do an upwards swim you get a dodge.
if it made it easy as it is on land to exicute what you actualy want it would be much better.

gobuls charge takes 2 dodges or 1 upsim to get out of range if your in its face, so you either get a didge into upward swim with the 2 dodges or get a dodge into upwarsd swim for the other.
i jsut couldnt get an upwards swim by its self if i wanted or 2 consecutive dodges close together.

No joke, I think a cool spin on deviants/subspecies would be "veteran" monsters, those which have survived multiple hunts and have learned to adapt in some way.

They would look scarred damaged somehow (but still have breakable parts) and have a different moveset that sort of compensates for their weaknesses or act in ways that goes against the typical way of beating them.

Like some of them could fake telegraphs or try to bait a roll out of you. Or go to 'eat' much earlier than usual but is actually setting up an ambush in the next area- you could counter it by entering via a different route would enable you to get the jump on them

A veteran Nibelsnarf could have some missing teeth but has learned to actually spit bombs it swallows back out at you

Obvoiusly this could be really annoying but it could make for a refreshing spin on some monsters.

Relic gear is COMPLETELY optional. Monsters died hilariously fast in 4U with regular gear. Of course the 10 million raw nat purple sharpness sleep GS needs to be rare as fuck, because it is so absurdly good. Freehunting in the woods for GQs was fun, the actual 140s were a real challenge even if you ran it with 4 dudes providing attractive rewards, relic skins were cool. God, 4U was truly the golden age. Fuck everybody who cried about the game being too hard.

Leveling GQs and being limited to 10 at a time can go fuck itself though, that was tedious af.

GQs, even with the suggestions by many GQ supporters, end up overshadowing the monster based weapons on the simple scale of their maximum values alone.
Why would I make a Chammy GS when I could grind for a Poison relic with nearly the same, if not better, status? Why would I make a Chammy GS when I could give up ~30 points of Poison to gain much better base power and sharpness?

Why would I grind for a Poison Relic, when I could just hunt Chammy and make his GS? Why would I grind for a Raw relic when I can just make Akantor/Ukanlos/(other) weapons?

Everyone praises Relics as a great End Game option. But if they're simply better than forgeables, why ever try to build a forgeable once you have something "that works"? You can just use that "just works" weapon on the GQs until you get the Relic you've been wanting! Because that's how we've been playing this game up to that point. Starter gear only and never building stuff based off the monsters we kill.
And if there are Forgeables that are better than Relics, that means Relics are mediocre, and by definition not optimal (which tends to be what end game play is about, making the best and most powerful sets).
If Relics are straight up worse than Forgeables, then their place as an "End Game grind" is moot.

So Relics that are better than Forgeables break the gameflow from the entire game leading up to the End Game Relic Hunt. And relics that are worse than Forgeables aren't worth the time to hunt them in the End Game.

Finding a relic that surpassed the best attack honed option of the weapon path is no easy feat and takes a long time. Forging said weapon gives you the fastest hunts, making your grinding for relics more efficient.

Relics were (rightly) banned from TA, ensuring crafted weapons saw play at the highest skilllevel.

Steve weapons had unique self-sharpening which you could never find on relics (more of these unique properties please).

You need to use something to carry you up to that point. There could be anywhere between 1 to hundreds of runs before you find the "ideal" one that outdoes your crafted weapon.
