Attila hordes are just so genuinely dis-interesting in this game. Forces you to turtle because losing a horde loses irreplaceable infrastructure which takes ages to develop into a decent fighting force.

In Attila it made sense but there are things these armies care about in this setting.

There is a reason WoC is so terrible in campaign and while Beastmen are better but the land-locked factions are overwhelmingly more popular. They have more shit to do and can actually produce new armies that are effective and not gimped trash.

At least a lot of RoR have special abilities on top of being high quality.
I was thinking about trying the less strong variant of Valuable Veterans, maybe 1/2 or 1/4. Enough to make unit ranks more meaningful but not so much that they turn into elites

On a side note, I had an alternative idea for RoR where instead of them being essentially just mercs you hire, you have to instead get a standard unit up to a minimum rank then transform that unit into its RoR version - that would be intredasting and never happen because I don't think the TW modding tools allow that much changery.

VC are pretty much "Hammer and Anvil: The Faction". You have essentially unbreakable frontline which holds good no matter how cheap, so you can invest heavily on their many many monstrous/cavalry options.

If you're talking MP, you'll want a Lord, about 8 Skellies, 1 WK, 1-2 Mortis Engines, 1-2 Blood Knights and spend the rest on whatever monster you can field. Maybe spam bats for tying down shit while the Blood Keep maniacs go to town.

On SP, you can pretty much go nuts after a while, but if you want a core army before you start printing dosh, 2 Grave Guards, 2 Corpse Carts/Mortis, a Varghulf, a Terrorgheist, 4 skellies and a few Vargheists serve me pretty well, with the rest being filler.

If CA expands their RoR system in the expansion they should definitely take hints from Cataph's implementation of the Southern Realms RoR (Still mad he won't do it for most other factions because he "doesn't want to step on the toes" of the faggot-ass modder that does those broken retexture only RoR shit).

Unique units that the faction wouldn't normally mixed with unique (and I mean actually unique, like Leopard Company, not just recolored base units like the Sons of Sigmar).

The Manhide's Manflayers are a pretty cool example. Incredibly powerful Dark Elves, being at the same time Crossbow and Glaide Infantry and excelling at both, they get massive debuffs to speed and acceleration while in combat (they get lost in the thrill of fighting and the ones not killing stuff are busy skinning corpses) and just being around them gives your own troops a Leadership Debuff.

Also awesome is the Krieger's Cursed Company, who are undead who constantly regenerate and revive AS LONG as they're fighting something.

Things like the more "normal" units would be easy. The Sons of Sigmar could just get a few unique custom models in between to show the regiment fought for a long time and collected lots of loot, the Warriors of Dragonfire Pass could get dragon-themed ornaments, but what about the more high leveled ones?


I mean, what would one give to, let's say, The Tattersouls, or the Eight Peak Lunies to make them more distinct?
And if we were to add new RoRs in the style of the Manflayers and the like, what would they be? What's the lore on that?

Could we see an Empire RoR made of Orks who are so crazy they believe Gork and Mork and Sigmar are the same? Or maybe an elite unit of Human Soldiers on the Vampire Counts' payroll?

Restart until their underdog.
Get a NAP with them. It helps if Nordland is also underdog since those 2 like each other so if you get the NAP with one, you get it with the other. Then wait until you're maxed out from that treaty. Be sure you're killing gobbos and beastmen and not releasing them for money. Then throw an AVERAGE gift at them. Small gifts don't stack as far as I know. Then you should be able to get defensive alliance and military access, then you wait until there's a war they're in for a sure-fire confederation. Don't know why they like to confederate the moment war breaks out, but there ya go.
It'll take a while. But honestly if you're in it just for the land it's quicker to war them. They're on the way back from Marienburg... Then you can loop down to Pissenland to the south.

They WERE balanced. But playing low armor, low stamina, high attack factions requires you to not be a retard. Reddit is fully composed of retards, so they bitched and bitched until CA buffed the elves so they have too much health on top of their high attack power.

It's okay though because the inclusion of two more elf factions will balance things out by letting the elves fight for control of the world.

Combination of both. The tabletop game was, by definition, a wargame, so dealing damage was always a pretty important consideration. GWS forces everyone who uses their product to sign incredibly specific and punishing licenses on what they can and cant do, and you can be assured both GWS and CA had to spend a lot on lawyers just agreeing on the license

Any OC content that was or is going to be made would have been agreed upon literally years ago when development started and the license was made. Any new OC they would want to do would require them to redo the license which means dragging back in lawyers and restarting negotiations.

It's just a giant Warpstone comet that crashed into the Ogre Kingdom, wiped out two thirds of their population and rendered the steppes around it barren and inhospitable. The surviving Ogres became migratory and they already had huge appetites and they became cannibalistic, eating smaller weaker Ogres as well as people in order to survive. Lots of micro though, as well as knowing how to charge and pull through units properly without being stuck in mass.

Charging head on to a wall of pikes, or sideways down a line isnt going to be very effective, but hitting from behind or across a single unit can wipe them out pretty hard.

Even the goblin chariots are pretty great, you can steam roll a whole archer unit if you hit it from the side taking down 1/4 of its health.

I think the DLC front might be a bit different as by adding four factions they would run out of main factions for the third release.

It's also really hard to guess depending on how they handle the grand campaign, if they do tack the new world on to the old(assuming first expansion is the new world, but that's a pretty safe assumption).
Kangz and Ogres seem like obvious picks, but only if there is a united campaign. Otherwise they would be more old world DLC.

Original plan seemed to be chaos themed last expansion and that is still kinda the only thing that makes sense for that.

The minor factions really do deserve a little bit of fleshing out or reskinning. It's pretty ez money for them if they do it. Human models + a couple of specialty units.

I'm thinking we'll have Tomb Kangz and exptra map space as the first DLC major for the expansion. An Araby + Estalia minor double pack could work, rivalry there. and brettonia can have their crusades.

It makes sense to just lump in the Syrian stunties with the Chaos expansion + have to ogres as a major DLC for those guaranteed purchases. Flesh out the norscans with this expansion too.

What will really blindside us is if the release for the upcoming expansion isn't helves, delves, lizards and skaven. That'll mean they've changed up plans entirely.

This was my basic army composition as savage orcs in my legendary campaign, which I completed yesterday. Take note that savage orcs recover a lot faster than normal orcs, hence lack of black orcs in the front line of my army. Other than faster recovery savage orcs aren't necessarily better or worse than the normal ones, they just have different tactical roles, being better suited to charging in and doing big deeps, but being less tough in a prolonged battle - not only they lack armour, but their morale is also slightly lower than other orc units.
Also I preferred using them because their recruiting building only requires 3 levels and gives you boar boys without requiring a separate building.
Bloody Handz usually get absorbed by Greenskins because they start in a pretty shit position and towns within their core region are contested between several factions, all of them capable of sniping those towns from under your nose. There's no worse feeling than seeing your enemy confederate with Greenskins while you are sieging down his last town.
Also they don't have that sweet gold mine that Grimgor gets.

I found a lot to like about DoW 2 but the fact that you, at most, control 14 Marines and a Dreadnought in most missions is a significant problem for me. DoW 1 battles werent exactly titanic in size or anything but they still felt more fun to me than DoW 2s. Retribution fixed that somewhat, though.

Still, I'd take 2 any day over what I've seen of 3.

I cannot finish a Bret campaign, and after +700 hours in Warhams I'm really burnt out and I'm hoping the next installment adds a lot more features and rules to make it closer to TT in many regards.

Sadly not many. There are the Thanquol books for the Skaven, one of which has some sections told from the Lizards perspective. There is "The Great Maw" short story for Ogres but its, well, short. I also remember one book, Broken Honour, having bits from a Beastman leaders perspectpive. There are some Chaos and Vampire books but in general, the novels focus on Empire, Bretonnia Chaos, Elves and Dwarfs.

I have a friend i cooped with and it absolutely horrible.

He autoresolved everything.

One thing triggered me when he swarmed athel loren with 6 stacks autoresolving through everything. Didn''t even fight manualy, manual-battles in this game are really sweet.

Nothing brings that immersion and feel when you are severely outnumbered but you manage to stand and win.

Secured all of the badlands and every settlement has lvl 2-3 hoard, + those gem/gold mines

Most of the funds to build it came from sacking Border Prince and Mountain Nigger towns for 10-30k a pop (I think one town was 40ish). I almost always used a shaman with 20% build cost reduction for the expensive stuff

So, I was also wondering. The most important provinces are castles, of which there are WAY less - 4 total in all of Britain. Towns are super easy to develop and make buttfuck loads of money, but you need quite a few to start raking in the cash.

It ends up being a back and forth - capture castles to replenish your troops (or else pray there are mercenaries around), capture cities to pay for troops.

After the England campaign I just had, having even like 10 or so provinces in one cluster is enough to make decent money to start pushing out major armies, bc trade values are related to distance between cities.

Also, it makes the map way larger and way more actual field battles can get fought instead of going siege after siege after siege until you win.

Good idea. Poor implementation. As usual. The best way of doing it would have been to give you the option to promote a long-serving unit to a RoR once it reached Rank 9. You could then choose from some custom bonuses like extra abilities or stats.

Or alternatively keep the current system but remove the instant recruitment bullshit. Give them each a quest battle or a recruitment requirement rather than just a necessary rank to give them a bit more depth and flavour. After that they become recruitable like a normal unit.

I transfer all of the units from the eastern horde into the western one, and then book it west, trying to make enough money for the eventual settling/rebuilding you will have to do. The roster is sound, although no spears is a nightmare, and the recruitment is buggy/poorly implemented (your best units can only be recruited from the t5 castle building that requires the last civic tech). What province you settle in can also be important - In spain I typically settle in Cartagenesis, as the olives make it easy to spec it into a very rich economic province when stacking commerce bonuses. You might also try converting to a different religion upon settling if you don't like arian christianity (I converted to graeco roman paganism). Spain is really good once you get your econ up and running, and africa is also lucrative if you want to expand that way.
