Plus it's a slayer so it's good for bossing in general and can run lab in like 5 mins or so, probably quicker if you put on more movespeed items but I'm too lazy to get the colours on a devotos and shit

With the exception of builds that need to stack armour for a good reason (Aegis max block builds), Iron Reflexes is a noob trap and armor/evasion hybrids can be extremely strong, so that's not a good explanation of why the belt blows dicks, which is more a numbers issue than a design flaw. Still, it's very salvageable as a Champion or Raider, so I wouldn't go as far to call it shit, there are far worse uniques and the belt slot isn't typically one where you get your build's power, just enough life and res, making the opportunity cost relatively low.

If you pick up 20k armour over 10k armour and 10k evasion, you're a noob. Evasion protects you against crits, and provides much higher damage avoidance than what 10k additional armour would. For big hits that are actually dangerous, flat PDR comes into play and having 20k armour instead of 10k won't change a damn thing. IR is a noob trap for anything but Aegis block builds.

Celestial Judgement is bad, don't get it.
Sanctify and Pious Path are used but probably not in this build.
Get the power charge and at least 1 endurance charge, I would get 2.
Get the 2 point jewel sockets when you have good jewels (have to remove points somewhere but you don't need to plan this right now).
Don't get Cloth and Chain, not worth it.
Versatility is a good node that you probably want.
If this is Ice Crash you would get Amplify. (if it's not ice crash I don't know what this is)

Glacial Hammer should work with Swords and Axes. The skill literally turns your weapon into a big ice hammer anyway so it doesn't matter what it is as long as it's long. If it works with staves that arne't shapped like hammers at all, it should work with swords and axes.

Most efficient way to do that is gonna be 2 Red Nightmares, Templar and Marauder outer, Points for Diamond Skin and that Fire Res node (if you don't use it to path out to rest of tree through the cold/lightning), Points for Elementalist and Faith and Steel, and 4 Rare jewels with double Staff Block Prefix (there are 2 1% Staff Block Prefixes.)

GGG made a game design mistake with shaper orbs, making it possible to have very efficient mapping against what are the weakest types of monsters in the game, which is a very important concept of arpgs and well done in PoE

Newbie here. Getting one shot by a no-warning blast wave by Izaro on the last leg of the Lord's Labyrinth isn't fun.

My very first character/build is a Ranger built around chilling and freezing, primarily. Currently level 53.

Main Skill: Ice Shot, supported by Curse on Hit Support + Frostbite, Hypothermia, Pierce Support, and Greater Multiple Projectiles.

Support Skills:
*Herald of Ice (Are there supports that would be useful in enhancing this?)
*Ice Golem (had a free slot, but having a dog following me around and chilling shit has been alright)
*Projectile Weakness supported by Blasphemy (might reconsider this given my current lack of capability for two curses simultaneously)
*Siege Ballista supported by Lesser Multiple Projectiles and Faster Attacks
*Blink Arrow supported by Physical Projectile Attack Damage
*Puncture supported by Physical Projectile Attack Damage
*Frost Wall (swapped it out in place of Vortex recently. Been surprisingly helpful. Wondering if I can build on that somehow.)

Currently I've just reached Sarn in Cruel difficulty, but I never got around to finishing the Lord's Labyrinth in Normal.

Really I've just been winging it so far, but I don't think I've been doing too too badly. Though I do feel like I'm probably gonna get shit for some of my choices. I've checked out the wiki to get a couple ideas here and there. Looking at my passive tree I've probably made a mistake or two but I don't think it's too terrible so far, but I've definitely gotta start working out the finer details starting now.

Also I've found avoidance to be coming to me more easily as I got into the build. Chilling enemies means they'll move around less, turn slower, attack in longer intervals. The frost wall will block certain attacks and control adds or impede an enemy that will move in for melee. Blink Arrow can make hopping around much simpler, provides an alternative target, and covers a decent distance. Plus I've got a couple Quicksilver flasks.

At this point the only thing holding me back is flickers in the connection strength causing lag and stops rarely.

I'm spamming it everywhere, all the time. It makes it more likely that Herald of Ice will detonate on mooks due to its increased freezing chance, thereby clearing crowds faster, and basically everything will have a significantly reduced cold resistance forever. Maybe if the curse area of effect was larger I might consider it on its own but it's got frankly pitiful range and having just a single skill to utilize instead of having to alternate constantly feels way better. All my other skills are either passive or situational.

does decay from essence of delirium scale with skill effect duration?

I suspect not....but it might be considered a skill because it has interaction with support gems....

Oh, I suppose I should make it clear what I mean by main skill in this context.

Ice Shot is what I spam everywhere all the time.

However, PUNCTURE is what I use for priority targets given that it can do pretty hefty damage. That Herald of Ice gives it a not insignificant cold damage boost, it also benefits from the Frostbite I get from spamming my massive wave of Ice Shots (though the bleed less so).

I'll probably be enhancing Puncture further when I get the slots to do so.

I have hypothermia on though. I have frostbite on top of that, which means my chance to freeze is fuckhuge and hypothermia's extra damage to chilled enemies is applying alongside frostbite's reduced cold resistance. And again, I get extra damage from popping frozen enemies due to herald of ice.

I have a priority target high damage skill already, why should I adjust my easy use control skill to add yet another button to press when it's already enough of a pain just focusing on the ones I've got?

In the end it gives me a lot more leeway to spend more time attacking and moving, and less time casting.

It does oneshot most packs, until we start getting into the crews that come with rares or uniques or the bulkier mooks like bears or rocks but even they only take 2-3 shots at most. This is why I feel having CoH frostbite is useful, because Herald of Ice causing frozen enemies to explode is a part of making those oneshots, plus it gives me a greater chance of locking down rares before I even know they're there.

Like, maybe at best I'd consider swapping out for Elemental Proliferation, but my damage'd take a decent hit. As it stands my mana regen is juuuuuust enough to make it so I can spam all the abilities I want with little to no repercussion, giving me lots of room for utility flasks, and I feel like faster attacks might jeopardize that somewhat.

Oh, I suppose I could look into Ice Bite Support as an alternative to CoH frostbite. I actually hadn't realized that gem existed. Hm.

As for the blasphemy projectile weakness, as it turns out a surprising number of enemies like to hide out just behind corners or in pockets in the fog of war, plus there's a few like the snake fuckers in act 2 that like to close the distance really fast.

So I've updated the build, thanks to Tabula Rasa being extremely friendly for this sort of experimentation.

Ice Shot has swapped out Curse on Hit Support + Frostbite for Ice Bite Support (+15% chance to freeze and 53% chance for frenzy charge on killing a frozen enemy) and Cold Penetrate Support (penetrates 21% cold resistance). Still has Pierce Support, Greater Multiple Projectiles Support, and Hypothermia as before.

I've attached Curse on Hit and Frostbite to Ice Wall for the time being. I don't think that's optimal but I'll see how it works out. Otherwise I've got Projectile Weakness with Increased Area of Effect Support. I may just drop Projectile Weakness entirely and have a casted Frostbite.

Did you take any of the bleed damage nodes or do I skip those? I really wanted to do some silly shit by getting high bleed chance on attacks and then using knockback to make bosses take the increased damage. I also have no clue what skill to use. Sunder or Cleave came to mind since they're 100% physical damage and can be used with most weapons.
