All weapon types are mostly there for choice.
Just keep using the few types you're best or most fun with.

There are many around videos that can help you out with the mechanics.

If you need monster info you can get PING'S DEX or quickly look up monster armor resistances instead at the smith.

Most armor skills are shit.

You usually want something like critical eye, attack up, hg earplugs, focus(gs/bow) sharpness+2, weakness exploit, etc depending on weapon or monster.

The hunter styles can save your life in different ways so you only need to worry about offensive armor skills.

The armor gives +40 raw and then a 10% raw boost on top of that and it has a nice amount of slots to work with, and the unique dragonblight doesn't disable dragon element. Valfalk weapons' infinite sharpness means you can go without razor sharp or readiness.

Miralis has very clear indication that he has some sort of molten material pumping through his whole body. It's easy for one to assume that this thing that looks like a living volcano should act like one too. The vents also replace his wings entirely

Then you have Valfalk who has this whole system running up through his functioning wings, which he can also use as a spear and cannons. It's also not entirely clear exactly what this bright red mystery fuel/energy is. one would probably assume dragon element but it's white and red instead of black and red.
He's slowly growing on me but I can wholly understand why someone would think he pushes the boundries a bit too much.

I was actually thinking earlier today about how some monsters might break the suspension of disbelief and I got to thinking about Rajang and how I never once questioned it. I wonder how he would be received if he was introduced now instead of in 2nd gen.
It's this giant horned monkey that spits lightning, goes super saiyan, and can somehow hold it self midair while spinning in a ball and propel itself rapidly down to the earth and then bounce back up.
The conclusion I came to is that it really comes down to the design of the monster feeling natural enough to keep you suspended.
Both the design and color scheme of valfalk could be better I think. Maybe he would have been recieved better if the engines were attached to his body instead of implemented into his wings

Just started playing Gen yesterday. Had it since launch, but was burned out from 4U at the time. Did they nerf armor skills in general due to the addition of styles and hunter arts? I swear, every set I look at has less skill points than I'm used to from 3U and 4U. Also, I'm assuming they just started straight up displaying true attack values instead of the usual inflated numbers, since I'm not seeing a single SA that hits 300 raw.

Fast Charge, Biology, and -Stam recovery versus Attack Up M, Tremor Res, Evasion +1, Torso Up, and Cold Surge. The difference is pretty striking, but probably justified.

It's mostly tedious to try and get it running because it keeps crashing while trying to load everything on O3DS, though. I expect myself to cave in and use the 3DS in a bit.

I do use pierce, of course its superior. But Normal 2 is a bit harder to use proficiently. You can't just aim at the weakspot even when its obscured by some other part. It also requires you to be closer to the monster, its p fun using normal.

Wait, are you saying you can't beat Kushala at all? Because having a go-to set for a monster is not a weird thing at all. It's very common to go to your box and switch your gear out when you see certain monsters on the board.

Further, it is well within the realm of possibility to poison Kushala four times or more with a Blademaster weapon. With a gun, it all depends on how much prep you did, but you could at least get three, he's very weak to it.

As others have said though, poison only deadens the wind. It isn't necessary to fight him, and there are way higher dps options.

If you have a CFW'd 3DS, it's as simple as grabbing InputRedirection and launching it alongside NTR CFW, then launching the game of choice. Works for both O3DS and N3DS, though O3DS can and will take several attempts.
