Equal number options wasn't the issue, at least for me. The problem was unequal they were treated. The gays get 8 minutes in total and fully clothed to fade to black while straights got at least 30 minutes and full nudity. Bioware loved to say they included gay relationships in the game but they're extremely lackluster. At the very least I hope the stuff with Gil outside of the romance path which I doubt, Bioware has never really done anything outside of the main subplot except in ME2 where you could cuddle with your partner
