You get decoy for free at level 20. Pavetta and Iorveth are both getting nerfed fairly significantly next patch, so it's a bit of a hard choice. Probably just pick the one belonging to the faction your prefer.

For what it's worth I enjoyed Gwent in TW3 but I would imagine it's quite different playing it against real people, and there are probably a lot of things they changed to make it a standalone game.

Round 1 is important but you should always have an strategy if you lose it or if it requires to much commitment to win it.

The rule of thumb is if you go first, you always want to be ahead in the score after your turn, otherwise your opponent can pass and if you want to take the win you will go 2 cards down to win a round. If you go second you also want to always keep ahead and if possible ahead enough so your opponent has to play 2 or more cards to beat you.

That is basically the core of how to gain Card Advantage in the game, you can also play spies or certain cards that generate Card advantage on the round you want to lose.

You should pass when you don't see a way for your opponent to beat you in a single card so you basically bait him to play 2 or more cards to take the win. The same goes for the rounds you want to lose, if somehow you are ahead after your opponent played a card, pass so you will at least get 1 more card out of him.

What cards are good will depend on your faction and playing style.

Also remember that you need to win 2 rounds out of 3, so if you win round 1 it doesn't matter for how much you lose round 2 you can still win.

A good tactic is to play round 2 (if you win round 1) and basically bleed out the opponent of cards, you must only keep playing until you can't beat your opponent with the rest of your hand, otherwise if your opponent pass and call out your bluff you gain nothing.

Download the game? No seriously there is a tutorial in the game, it will also give you some kegs, ore and scraps (basically packs of cards, currency to buy said pack of cards and crafting material) so you can start your collection and initial decks.

Do the tutorials, you will learn the basics and then the rest will come as you play on casual.

I just started playing today, around level 5.

What are some good budget decks I should be able to make and/or where can I find some good ones? Preferably Nilf or Northern.

Anyone else think Emhyr and Morvran's hero powers should be switched? I feel like it would be much better for newer players, since Emhyr needs a specific archetype to work properly, but Morvran is very basic and can work with simpler decks.

Nilfgaard is the only faction that suffers from this.

If you really want to play spies, get Letho. They might be good next patch. None of the others are worth spending scraps on.

If you do not have them yet, I would instead craft strong neutral legendaries like Roach, Ocvist and Myrgtabrakke. All three of those make it into NG decklists. If Rot Tosser is still strong next patch, I would consider Aeromancy as well.

I got Keira out of them which is nice but I have a question.
I have around 2k scraps ready, I was thinking of crafting a axemen wounding deck for which I'd only need a few more cards but Golden henselt looks really fun.
The problem is I deleted all my NR and Monster cards, that said I already have Margarita, the 3 bluestripes guys and 2 reaver scouts (plus Keira)
Think I can craft a decent Golden Henselt deck with 2k scraps? I've most of the key neutral legends.

Ves, Priscilla, Nenneke Margarita and Stennis (need 1 more). Those would be 680 scraps as I already have Marge.
Bronzes:
Blue stripes, Promote, Siege Towers, Medics and Ballistas? Thats 810 scraps.
Golds:
Shani, dont know what else so far. 200 scraps.

And Henselt, other 200 scraps.

Which adds up to 1890 scraps. I still need to one more silver, but I think i could add decoy/roach/kob and the 3 golds. Although I think one of those 3 golds will be Triss to get some removal.

Ves is trash. Just run whatever 2 neutral silvers you think you need. Can't go wrong with KoB.

For bronzes, Blue Stripes aren't really needed. Ves really isn't very good, so I'd just cut the whole temeria thing.

Get 2 promotes, 3 PFI's, 3 seige towers, 2 medics, 2 scouts. Fill in the last slots with specials to your choosing, probably a first light or two.

For Golds, NR doesn't really have any good ones other than Shani. Just slap in some neutral golds, and possibly Roche for some removal. Regular Yennefer is good.
