If there's anything good that FNAF has done it's making animatronics a legit horror trope and really bringing into light what makes them so eerie and worthy of becoming a variety of monster.

I'm sure animatronics have been the topic of some horror films or games in the past but FNAF has definitely perfected it and made it more of a thing.

Nah, that was just people's interpretation due to Coffee's secret plot-twist endgame of saving the fetus at the expense of everyone else around him. To me, the whole game was about finding purpose "hope" in an otherwise hopeless "desolate" situation. We saw that with the way the derelicts coped after being abandoned, but in the end, it was really about Coffee finding something worth living for, and the lengths he would go to to ensure his self imposed purpose was fulfilled.

The Puppet is conceptually a good idea on paper ( a creepy sockpuppet) but the way it turns out is obnoxious, and is a clusterfuck.

Golden Freddy was creepy and mysterious at one point but now is an absolute clusterfuck because it had to appear again and again, and there had to be more "leepest dore" to appease underage Minecrafters. Afton is more of a symptom than a cause; if he wasn't there something worse would come up and take his place.

That's Freddy's minigame, anon. Unless you're playing on mobile, in which case shit nigger what the fuck are you doing? The main version of the minigame is based on your ability to process sound without a clear indicator of where you are on the danger scale. Compare this to the binary system of 4, where it's either breathing at your door or not.

It's the only way to be intimidated by a literal titty monster. Crawling on the floor and being unable to see the top of the figure in front of you is better at conveying vulnerability. Incidentally, the lack of a concrete visual appearance is a recurring trait in horror, and Ballora uses it better than the other robots do. You should watch Halloween or The Thing, they both use lighting to brilliant effect. Pic related is another great example of how lighting can affect a scene, and it's also part of why the first game is still the creepiest. It holds more weight as a piece of quality horror through it's employment of horror traditions without being derivative.

Purely subjective on this part. For the character though, subdued and "sultry" (Scott asked for this part) fits Ballora better than the wacky screaming of Freddy or the quaintness of Bon-Bon. Really depends on what you're looking for in a horror character.

I think Scott feels pressured to include Freddy in whatever he's working on. Most of the fanbase are autists who won't buy (or like) anything that deviates from the "jump scare + deepest lore" formula. I suspect that Silver Eyes and 4 was better received than World in part because of this, as opposed to it being objectively worse.

Scott also uses reddit and steam for his feedback, so that's where he's coming from.

Hey everyone!

I wanted to comment on the final fate of FNaF World. There won’t be an update 3, and there won’t be mobile ports. This game had a good run, and it garnered a surprisingly large following here on GameJolt with almost 4 million downloads. Unfortunately, as mentioned in my Steam post, I made some mistakes very early in this game’s development that are going to make further changes very difficult, and I think that that time and effort would be better spent on new projects.

There has been a huge outpouring of support and love for this game recently, and it’s been really heartwarming. There’s a big hatebase too, no doubt, and maybe rightfully so, but that doesn’t diminish the amount of love that a lot of people have for this game. Requests for Update 3 and mobile ports have been coming in on an almost daily basis, and that’s a real silver lining to what has been a dark cloud for me.

FNaF World will continue to have a home here on GameJolt. It was a project of love for me and something that I enjoyed working on. Thank you to everyone for their support and encouragement. Posting this game here really opened my eyes to what an awesome community GameJolt actually has. :)

Freddy has a Foghorn Leghorn accent and dialect, his voice can go from sounding comforting and friendly to bloodthirsty and borderline evil. Funtime Freddy has his canon voice because it's amazing.

Freddy has a generic pirate voice. Mangle sounds like a soft-spoken southern belle, the "i do declare!" kind of voice and Funtime Foxy sounds like a generic ring leader saying "hurry! hurry! hurry!" and "you won't believe your eyes!"and yes, I think Funtime Foxy is male.

Chica has the voice she had in the hotdiggedydemon parody video. Toy Chica is a diamond-inducing party girl voice.

Bonnie's is the voice David Near gives him.

David Near's voice for the Puppet is also my headcanon voice for him. I always imagined Pupper having that "sinister storyteller" type of voice.

Springtrap has the text-to-speech voice from Fuckboy's because it's hilarious and I like to think he lost his human voice and now uses a robotic one in order to speak but rarely does because he sounds ridiculous.

Purple Guy/William Afton sounds like Chucky from the Child's Play series, same laugh and everything. I'd go as far to say he looks like Brad Dourif too. If William was to appear in a movie or tv show, I'd get Brad or Tobin Bell to play him. He's got that "sinister old man" look to him.

I imagine that the Skinman had a southern accent before his life went to shit that sounds either like Ace or Gibby Haynes from The Butthole Surfers, but after his transformation it became raspy and scratchy, like what I imagine somebody would sound like if they had their vocal chords ripped out and put back in. That was an idea for FNAF 2 back in the /v/ threads, before people knew Scott's limits.

It'd be a free roam, task based game where each night has new papers on the bulletin board and you do tasks each night with your buddy who turns out to be the killer, rehired. The bad ending has his eyes peering at you from the darkness along with Freddy and friends' when he leaves you to go encounter them alone, or if you stick with him you can arrange for his death instead of stuffing.
